My fiance had previously used All Knight moving (based on Yelp reviews) and had a great experience, so I decided that I would use them too. Too bad history could not repeat itself.
I tried to make my moving appointment 4 weeks in advance for a Sunday. I filled out the quote request on their webpage and did not get any response so I ended up having to call to make the appointment instead. No big deal, still 3 weeks left until the moving date. I received a confirmation email a few days later that listed the details discussed when I made my appointment. 3 hour min, $30 diesel charge, 2 guys and a 16 ft bobtail truck. The problem? They listed the incorrect moving date. I quickly emailed and they sent out a corrected confirmation.
The confirmation email stated that I would received a phone call for verbal confirmation of my appointment 2 -3 days prior. That never happened, but I did not follow up because I figured the email I had was proof of my appointment and I should not have to worry.
The day of the move I am up early since I was quoted a move time between 7:15 - 8:45 am. Great! First appointment of the day! This should run smoothly right? Wrong! Once 8:30 rolled around, and I had not received a call letting me know the movers were on the way, I was on the phone again. I explained my situation and he said he would figure out what was going on and call me back. 20 minutes later I get a call saying that "There was a problem with the truck this morning, but it is all fixed now and the guys should be calling you around 9:30" This felt like a lie. If the problem with the truck was fixed, why would I have to wait another hour to get a call from the movers telling me they are 30 minutes away? Shouldn't they be on their way now since the truck is fixed?!
9:45 rolls around and I get a call from the mover. Guess what? He did not have my address. What kind of company sends movers out without giving them the address where they are going?!
10:30 rolls around and the movers finally show up. They were the only reason I gave more than one star on this review. (They deserve 5 stars on their own). Both guys were very polite, apologized for the delay, and were quick to start right away. They even provided me with portable wardrobes for all my clothes. They got my approval to take things they were not sure about, offered to wrap many things I did not even think about and handled everything with care. I was very pleased with them.
2 hours later, everything is moved into the new place. Based on my confirmation email, I had already estimated the cost of the move. However, I still asked them to provide me with the final cost. The main mover said he had to call his boss to get a confirmation on the price. After about 10 minutes, he comes back to me with a price that is higher than I had estimated. I asked how it was calculated. He said "A 4 hour minimum..." I stopped him right there, whipped out my computer and showed him my confirmation which listed the 3 hour minimum, not 4. He got on the phone with his boss again, 10 minutes later they dropped the extra hour, but upped the diesel charge by $5. By that time, I did not want to argue anymore.
I wanted to pay with a credit card, since the confirmation email clearly stated that credit/debit/cash were the only forms of payment accepted. However, my mover told me he could not take credit cards. Annoyed with another lie from the confirmation email I just paid the cash and tipped the guys accordingly for the job they did. I did not blame them at all for the troubles, it was the "boss" and the company overall that did not have their stuff together.
Overall, the movers themselves were great, the company not so much, but that was not enough to keep me as a customer. I will never use All Knight Movers again. read more
