This is a review of Lisa who is a long-time salesperson in the shoe department and a review of the…read moreshoe department. Lisa and the shoe department most definitely deserve three stars. Entering the store Lisa greeted me nicely and as I was looking at the shoes, she asked if I knew what I was looking for. I was disappointed at the selection. I usually have better luck. I asked Lisa if we could look at shoes on her computer as I saw more what I was looking for online, but I really need to try on shoes. Lisa struck me as not too bright and didn't seem to understand why I wanted to look at shoes on her computer. After a minute or two, I told her I would go home and look at shoes on my computer and call her. I called her and she gave me about five minutes on the phone and told me three of the five shoe I picked out were not available anymore. I wanted her to have the shoes sent to San Rafael Macy's for me to try on. After I got off the phone unhappy with Lisa's ability, I purchased two pairs online. And if they don't fit, I will return them to the store. So, my experience with Lisa doing some for me, but not going above and beyond gets three stars. And the selection of shoes gets three stars.

She also searched for a clothing product that i thought was not available until i checked out. Ended up a one stop shop. Also the Down pillow selection is on point if you are in the market for a legit down pillow for less than $100-. Hope this helps future customers.

If you like name-brand outdoor clothing but not name-brand outdoor clothing prices, Marin Outdoor…read moreTrading Company should be on your radar. With a mix of consignment clothing and manufacturer samples, MOTC is a small, local shop with an enticing mix of offerings. Even though the consignment clothing would never count as cheap, every piece appears to be in great shape with no evidence of wear. The sample pieces, still sporting manufacturer tags, also sport a huge discount off their recommended sales price. I picked up a pre-worn, stylish fleece from The North Face for $30 and felt that price was reasonable and returned home to tell my son he should check the place out for the sort of outdoor men's pants he likes. The array of offerings is not dissimilar from what one finds at REI, but on a much smaller scale. There's other outdoor stuff here too - including a proprietor with whom one can engage in for everything fishing related. Despite its size, the store features clothes for all ages and genders as well as outdoor equipment. Whether you've outgrown something or just want something new or gently worn, if you're seeking outdoor clothing and like those name brands, MOTC should be on your radar.

And if you like being outside that's probably your preference, too. :) Highly recommend visiting this shop.

"They seek him here, they seek him there His clothes are…read moreloud, but never square It will make or break him so he's got to buy the best 'Cause he's a dedicated follower of fashion" (the kinks) I stumbled into SONAS after I had a $14 pancake ($17 with tip) across the street in lovely Fairfax. SONAS: snuggled sort of in between Gestalt Haus and the COFFEE ROASTERY. (Sans the character who used to wear nothing but pink terry cloth short shorts who would hang on the corner daily.) A groovy little store with maximum use of minimal space. Hip aesthetic, kind of like the British invasion meets Robert Graham on the way to a little modern day "Liberace-esque" style without the candelabra?! Not exactly the right gear for my body or my style as I'm sort of a self-proclaimed hetero "POLO Queen". I'm kind of locked in that chino slacks, Weejun loafers, old school preppy look. A very welcoming, friendly proprietor named GERRY holds down the set very well. It's a great haberdashery (maybe "boutique" is apropos as they have men's and women's clothing) for that evening out in the city at a rock concert just hanging out in general. An OASIS for Burning Man folk or the Marin County corporate attorney preparing for a weekend of debauchery! JIMI on one wall mirrored by PRINCE on the other with Gerry sporting a sort of iridescent blue tie with the words "KIND OF BLUE", a nod to Miles. A trifecta, three of my favorite musicians! "So you want to be a rock 'n' roll star? Then listen now to what I say Just get an electric guitar Then take some time and learn how to play And with your hair swung right and your pants fit tight It's gonna be all right Then it's time to go downtown Where the agent man won't let you down" (the byrds) These lyrics came to mind as I was eyeballing the joint and they're very fitting, GERRY the "agent" and "downtown" representing Fairfax downtown.... Kind of reminds me of "famous4" in Mill Valley, but with a keener eye. I shall return one day and pick up something- maybe as a gift. Or, when I wanna "take a walk on the wild side".
