First off Mel is a wonderful gentleman and punctual. He is definitely still green when it comes to fixing more detailed work. I hired him to do two jobs one to replace a dining room light and the other to replace the handle on the oven. I had already researched how to fix the oven handle. So I actually had to instruct him on how to remove the door and actually unscrew the panel myself. Mel had no problems uninstalling the current dining room light fixture but definitely I had to assist him in thinking out of the box to install the new light fixture a maximum 1 1/2 hour job became a three hour job.Definitely use him for every day use such as painting but definitely look somewhere else if it requires technical skills. read more

I had 2 small jobs for Mel--install an outdoor lamp and a towel bar. But it's these small jobs that have challenges. The old, broken towel bar had a stripped screw head and one screw broke off into the drywall. The outdoor lamp installation had the stucco hindering a good close fit. No problem for Mel. He carefully worked through the challenges and now I have outdoor lighting, and a sturdy towel rod. Call Mel, and if you can, send him a picture of the task--so he can give you an honest estimation.
