Before permits could even be pulled, their staff member, Paul Wise, began pressuring me to start the job immediately. Without a permit, Paul came to my property, excavated, and then falsely claimed my sewer pipe was broken and full of waste, demanding an additional $10,000. A second, reputable plumbing company confirmed Paul had lied; the sewer line was fine, and the "repair" he did was unnecessary and incorrectly done. When I confronted Paul with these findings, he responded with a torrent of verbal abuse, threats of physical violence, and threatened to place a lien on my home for work I never authorized. Heater installed is less quality than the one replaced. Said new heater better then the old one. - Didn't convert the heater to LP from NG until I informed him it wasn't done. - Set system for external circulation pump, but didn't install a pump. - Used metal connection to condensate neutralizer... only supposed to use plastic connection. Metal fittings will fail in a month or so due to the corrosive liquid coming from the unit. - Left system in non-working order. - Wouldn't return calls or come as promised, abandonment. We hired Paul Wise from All American Services through Thumbtack and had a terrible experience. He came to our home after we discovered some standing water under the house. Paul used his scope and found a blockage in the toilet. Paul then went and inspected the septic and informed us that our septic grinder was broken and hadn't been working for some time. We recently purchased our home, and this is our first experience with septic. We provided Paul with the paperwork about our septic system, and after his research, he gave us an estimate of $4,687.75 for the repairs. He required over $2,343.88 in order to begin work the following morning. He said that since it was Sunday, he would need to drive out to the warehouse in the morning to buy the parts and would come back to complete the job on Monday morning. We sent him the deposit via Thumbtack. We did not sign a contract or sign anything or acknowledge that our deposit was unrefundable, nor did the proposal summary say that. After he left, we researched and discovered that our septic system does not even have a grinder. We immediately contacted him to cancel and informed him that we were going to hold off and get another estimate. We canceled the job through Thumbtack. We had another licensed professional inspect the system the following morning. That plumber opened the tank, pulled the filter, and showed us the real issue was simply a clogged filter, which was cleared on the spot. We informed All American (Paul) of this, but he has refused to return our deposit, even though no work was performed, no contract was signed, and he attempted to charge us for equipment that doesn't exist on our system. We have asked him to provide us with documents showing that the deposit was non-refundable or anything that we signed, but he has not done this, because it does not exist. After further research, I found multiple reviews from other customers describing similar situations where this contractor caused more repairs in the long run, or that they felt they were scammed. I also advise anyone to research reviews across all platforms, as the ones that we reviewed on Thumbtack were decent. We are currently working with Thumbtack for our refund. Thumbtack does state that you have 24 hours to cancel a job and receive a refund. In our experience, this was a clear case of dishonesty and refusal to refund money for work that was never done or purchased. This is the worst service and most unprofessional company I ever hired. a bathroom installation that was promised to be completed in 2 days we are in 2 months now and still nothing. the plumber Paul has abandoned the work after receiving all the payments $6500 in advance. They sent no one else since he disappeared leaving me with a bathroom with no toilet, no shower and no vanity for 2 months now and still going. they lie everyday about coming back same day but never show up. Staff of All American services should be wearing superhero capes, because our experience was that's pretty much how Paul Wise operates. There are people who work hard, are flexible, professional and go the extra mile. But our experience of Paul was that he went BEYOND the extra mile. We were in such a bad situation when we found the water heater had flooded in the middle of the night (I am disabled and my husband teaches Special Education, and while it's not easy for anyone to miss work, for Sp. Ed. teachers it is extra hard). Being without water (not just without hot water) was really extremely difficult in our situation. Most of the plumbing companies we contacted couldn't come out for days (this happened on a Wednesday), and some of the large companies weren't even willing to give us information like a basic ballpark like-for-like quote over the phone. The 1 large company who did come out gave an estimate that was DOUBLE the price we paid Paul at All American. All American also worked with us to match a lower price. Paul worked so hard to make sure we had hot water, and was gracious about our decision-making process (we'd only had a couple hours sleep in this anxiety provoking home emergency situation & we were having difficulty communicating because of our fogged brains & overwhelm, but Paul was really helpful with information and communicated excellently).
