He dialed in the automatic chlorine feeder and replumbed the system, removing the old waterfall and integrating it with the new variable-speed one I already had. He even spray-painted the pipes to match, which was a really nice finishing touch. He also took the time to integrate all of my new add-ons into my Pentair panel and set everything up with specific schedules so everything works together properly. He made sure I understood how everything was connected and how the different components work. The setup came out clean, professional, and exactly how I wanted it. A few hiccups, but they were always dealt with in a respectful way and timely manner. We recently ended service with them only because we are trying to sell our home and we are trying to cut costs. We figured we could maintain the pool ourselves through the rest of the year. We called and were able to cancel our monthly service with them pretty easily. They were kind and helpful, but no information was given about the way they would leave the pool on their final service. Their departure, unfortunately, was disappointing and ended up costing us almost $400 to fix their mistake which actually defeated the entire purpose of trying to do this on our own to save money. I'm not sure if it's standard practice to leave everything with the pool completely OFF, but some notice and communication would have been nice. Everything was turned off. There was no power going into our pool. The filter, vacuum, pump, everything was turned off and in August heat this was a disaster for algae to grow. We didn't notice it until it was too late. I guess it grows quick in the heat because 2 separate trips to the pool store and $400 later we were able to get the pool back, but what a disappointment. I thought we had a week from the time Nevergreen serviced our pool until we needed to worry about it, but that was being under the impression that the filter, pump, vacuum etc was still running and keeping things clean. I do want to note that I really enjoyed our pool guy - I wish I remembered his name! Austin? He was super nice and helpful and when he learned we were cancelling he even took some time to show me a few things about the pool and equipment. Super helpful. I don't blame him. I don't imagine it would be his responsibility to communicate with me those details and he doesn't see me every week regardless. I am more upset with the back office and the lack of communication (no call or email explaining what to expect) when closing out an account and not going over the way things will end. Unless this is not common practice -- if everything should have been left on as it was, then I'm sorry to whoever services our pool lol I don't want to get him specifically in trouble, but this was a very costly mistake for us in an already difficult financial time. I watched him pour the acid directly from the bottle into my pool without diluting it first. Then, he proceeded to go around the pool with the pool brush brushing and splashing the water up onto the pool concrete coping. He said this is needed to circulate the acid. I went outside a couple hours after he left. I saw something that looked like black marks on the concrete coping near where he poured the acid in. Upon further examination, I realized they were holes in the concrete. The acid pitted by pool coping. Now I need to see if someone who does concrete repair can fill in the holes so they don't get any larger.

Whoever my current pool tech is, has been doing a great job. The other big thing is that Ash picks up the phone immediately when you call. There is no back and forth.

So why am I giving the company one star? Because the owner tried to rip me off, and that's unforgivable. I asked Mark to have his guy take a look at my pool pump as it was making a noise that was getting worse. He said he'd come take a look himself. After coming out, he told me that my pump needed to be replaced and that the cost would be $2,950. That sounded rather pricey to me, so I started doing some research. It didn't take long to figure out that if I needed a new pump, I could get one, with installation, for about $1,800. But it gets better. Once I took the pump to an honest repair shop (Callen Pool Supply in Rancho, Scott is amazing!) it turned out the entire problem was a $25 seal that had worn out. The seal was replaced and the pump runs better than ever. At this point I called Mark once again to ask him if he was CERTAIN that my pump needed to be replaced. He said "yes, it does." I explained to him that I had repaired it for $25. He expressed ZERO remorse for trying to get me to give him $3K. None. He had the nerve to act like he had done nothing wrong at all. Needless to say that at that point I informed him I would no longer be needing his services. In addition, he also had the nerve to bill me $150 for coming out here and opening up the pump. Steer clear of this guy. He's also not capable of/unwilling to set up an auto pay. Wants me to hand over a check every month like it's 1995. There are so many better choices out there. My new guy actually charges less, and knows how auto pay works. Crazy.

Recently, I have discovered reviews confirming that this is not unusual for Scotty. I've also seen his replies about being surprised by those reviews. I'm writing this three days after texting him that I was planning to write this, so it's no surprise to him. I'm most annoyed that his last prepayment request said that I should know that he's good for it from my past experience with him . He's a small time crook willing to spend a little time getting you ready for the hit.
