I took a certified pre owned 2016 Chevy Cruze that ended up being a little over $18,000. Shortly after that a friend of mine got a brand new Chevy Cruze (2018) for a little over $16,000. I had some serious buyers remorse after buying my Cruze but like I said, needed a car fast, didn't have much of a choice... it is what it is. My biggest issue is their service department. With my first car I always took it elsewhere but they stressed the importance of servicing it at the dealership so I've been trying. If you just want a standard oil change/tire rotation you're going to wait 3 hours if you're a walk in. I've discovered that if you schedule an appointment you'll wait significantly less but if you call in, they will not let you schedule an appointment. "Just walk in!" the guy will tell you over and over again while repeating their hours. It's frustrating. If you go on the website you can create an appointment on there. The last time I was having issues with the website and I called in, couldn't get them to schedule anything with me. I ended up going to Walmart for my oil change. The one time I did have an appointment it only took an hour but I wasn't informed. I walked to my mother's house nearby to wait. They called but I let it go to voicemail. I've had the same phone phone number for over ten years and I get a lot of random solicitors and the number they were calling on didn't match the service center number I called so I assumed it wasn't them. I thought for sure they'd have left a voicemail if it was them. 3 hours later I finally called in, hoping my car was close to being done only to be told it had been done for a while. This is partially my fault for assuming it wasn't them but why wouldn't you leave a voicemail? I spoke to a woman earlier who, while pleasant most of the call got real defensive when I expressed my frustrations and told me "I have to defend our service department." She claimed they would never not schedule an appointment if asked for one and implied that I was lying. The sales people are all really nice. I dunno. It's very average. Not terrible but not great either. I'll definitely be asking friends and checking out other dealerships for my next vehicle.

No matter what they do these ripoff artists jack up the maintenance to charge you $1,000. They put 4 new tires on and the junk tires leaked from the first day they put them on. Took the car back yesterday and they told me they weren't leaking. I went out this morning and two of the tires had gone from 35 psi to 14 psi overnight. Complete ripoff. Their turn around times are usually pretty quick, so I never use their car long anyway.

The Wagners are very honest about timetables and costs. They are good about telling you what various options you have for parts, types of repairs, etc so you understand what the opportunity costs are with respect to time, money, convenience, and quality. They are also very responsive about looping customers in on communication with the insurance companies. I appreciated that the Wagners were willing to explain auto body 101 concepts to me -- they are humble and there is no talking down or condescension when repairs/car issues are being explained. On sort of a side note, by talking to Rob I learned a lot about car bodies and just generally got some bigger picture insight into car repairs, the insurance industry, and supply chain issues. The Wagners just come across as being very decent and thoughtful guys. And not least of all, the quality of the repair is fantastic. The car looks like new and feels new. Even though I live in the eastern part of the city of Pittsburgh and the Wagners are out in a northern suburb, I would make them my first choice for future big repairs. We had very high hopes for our experience with CarShop, especially because everything started off…read moreso well when we purchased our vehicle. Unfortunately, about three weeks after purchasing it, everything seemed to go downhill. We started noticing that the car wasn't running smoothly and eventually got to the point where we genuinely did not feel safe driving it. It was also failing to do basic things properly, which led us to contact CarShop and bring the vehicle back on Monday, July 13th. When we dropped it off, we were told, "You probably won't hear anything until Wednesday, July 15th." However, the following day we received a call from a woman telling us that our car needed to be sent to Chevy because there was a recall on it. This was extremely frustrating because NOT ONCE during the purchasing process were we informed that there was a recall involving the transmission. To our knowledge, the vehicle was sent to Chevy on either Tuesday the 14th or Wednesday the 15th. From that point forward, communication was extremely disappointing. We were never told which Chevy dealership our car was sent to, we received little to no updates unless we called ourselves, and we were given very little information about what was actually happening with our vehicle or when we could expect it back. About a week later, we called asking for an update and again received very little information. We also made sure to let them know that we would be leaving to go out of town on July 31st. We were told, "Oh, it shouldn't take any longer than two weeks." Throughout the following weeks, we called multiple times trying to get updates and continued reminding everyone we spoke with that we were leaving town. Then, on July 30th, we received a phone call saying that the rental car we had been given had been sold and needed to be replaced. They did come to us and exchange the rental, which we appreciated, but the overall situation was already frustrating considering we had been without the vehicle we had JUST purchased for over two weeks with very little communication. On the morning of July 31st, I called around 8 a.m. because I needed to get something out of our car before leaving town. Instead of simply telling us where our vehicle was located, someone was sent to go get the EZ pass for us. Again, while we appreciated them doing that, it was frustrating that we still weren't being told where our own vehicle was or what was happening with it. I specifically explained that we would not be home after 12 noon that day and that if the vehicle was finished after that point, it would have to sit there for over a week until we returned. After weeks of waiting and calling for updates, we received a call around 4 p.m. THAT SAME DAY saying the vehicle was finally finished. We also later found out that additional issues occurred while the vehicle was being repaired, which we were not informed about until after the fact when WE OURSELVES read the maintenance reports. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. We understand that recalls and repairs happen, and some things may be outside of CarShop's control. However, communication and transparency are absolutely within their control. We should have been informed about the recall from the beginning, told where our vehicle was being sent, updated throughout the repair process, and notified about additional issues as they happened. After having such a positive experience initially, we are extremely disappointed with how everything was handled once problems arose with the vehicle.

When I arrived, the vehicle was right out front. Mark was very cool, he said they are a no-pressure dealership, and he handed me the key and gave me a printout of the CarFax, and asked me if I wanted to take it for a test drive. After putting on a license plate, I was able to take it for a solo test drive. Afterwards we chatted a little bit about pricing and such. I had a horrible experience with another dealership and started looking at other dealerships. That's where McElwain came into play! I was still pretty injured, so I couldn't come in until a few days later, but Tim made me feel at ease. He originally took my call about the Honda I saw online, and when I asked if it had a clean title, he not only texted me the answer, but a picture of the report. I planned on coming in the next day, but due to a change in plans, I was able to come that same day. He answered every text and informed me that he would tell me if the car had been sold, so we wouldn't drive up to find out then. He also let me know the policy on used cars due to how quickly they're moving right now- something that the guy at the other dealership never cared to do. As you can tell by now, I had a bitter taste in my mouth from my previous experience and expected every salesman to be the same. Tim was not. He went above and beyond, and every single person that we encountered was extremely friendly and eager to help. Tim was finishing up with another customer, so another guy pulled the car around. I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely friendly! Once Tim finished up, we took a test drive and all talked on the ride. Not once did I feel pressured into buying. Tim was so personable and laid back, and I got really good vibes from the business and atmosphere which made me purchase me awesome new Honda that day! He was straight forward with pricing and negotiation and it was such a painless process. Matt, the finance guy, was also super friendly and made the paperwork a breeze. He was so welcoming and never pressured me to purchase anything additional. I really appreciate that! For the first time in two weeks following my accident, I finally felt content. I miss my old civic like crazy, but I am so happy with how my experience went that I know I made the best choice by purchasing my car from McElwain. The service person let me know that it would be two hours and the lunch hour before the repairs would be completed. I was surprised when he came back in just under 2 hours and said that the mechanic waited to take their lunch until my car was completed. I was amazed and the price was less than I would expect to pay elsewhere. I have always taken my cars for service here over the past 4 plus years I have lived here even though t is not the closest Chevy/GM dealer to me. They couldn't get a flat bed or tow truck through the gates. They then used their pickup which they hooked up the truck, and with a little persuasion from the stuck wheels, they moved it out. Easy title transfer. The 3 guys were courteous and worked hard to remove my truck. Once they got my pickup out to the street, they used their tow truck to take it away. I am very pleased with PGH Junk Cars. I called them, and the next morning they had a flat bed. They called and said they would be back in the afternoon because the flatbed was too big. Very good communication. I can't say enough good about their service. They are the best.
