I first saw an ad…read morefor a free introductory class at this location which is how I learned of them and then I saw that they also have a location at Penn station. For my introductory class, I signed up for their Core Pilates. It was really difficult to sign up. I had a hard time getting in contact with anyone (it took about 4 attempts). But when I finally did, the sign up process was easy. They had a lot of classes to pick from, including Pilates, Barre and cardio classes. I didn't realize when I signed up that this was a reformer class. I usually do mat Pilates, but there were a few other beginners in the class and the teacher was very patient and nice. The great thing about the reformer machine is that you can turn up or turn down the intensity of the workout according to where you're at. It does take more coordination than I'm used to being on the machine, but it was fun! The teacher helped make adjustments so I could get the maximum benefit, which I appreciated. The Hackensack facility was really nice and big. They had complimentary lockers and towels and the changing room and restroom were both clean. The membership is kind of steep at $279 per month, but they do have discounts for 26 years old and under an 65 years old and over at their other locations.

I have been coming here for the past two years and could not be more thankful to my beautiful instructor Carol Berlin. Her patients, love, help, passion and devotion to her students is incredible. I have found so much in this peaceful studio. Not only have I developed in yoga but I have become a stronger and better person. This place is truly a golden treasure and whoever is looking to learn yoga and help themselves, this is the place. I could not be more thankful to Carol and Freedom Within Yoga for everything it has done for me.

But after leaving a message to make an appointment and getting contacted immediately by the most pleasant person I decided I would go. I went on a monday afternoon when there were no classes in session and was greeted by a warm receptionist I believe was named Alexandria. She was very nice and friendly and explained all the procedures for the session. The facility was beautiful and well kept. I was glad that I went and will consider going again even though the facility is a way from my home. I hope to participate in some yoga classes before my next session. I wished I lived closer to this little gem.

Charlotte is so knowledgeable and very aware of our needs and limitations, be it an old injury or a painful condition. She is always changing the class to make it interesting and challenging, but never pushes you beyond your personal limits. She is always there to help with advice and props to make your workout fun and comfortable . I would definitely consider returning if they lowered their prices. But compared to other gyms in the area, this just doesn't make sense financially.

All I know is I requested a freeze. She didn't even know as the manager what the freeze was when she said 30 days I called corporate. It was 14 days so I was lied to I got charged a total of almost $600 for the two months that I was away I hardly even use my membership and I pay the highest possible for the monthly fee. Ridiculous absolutely ridiculous and then they said I was rude all of a sudden today because I was one minute late and she comes in the manager, trying to rip me out of class disturbing class when there's plenty of people that have slid in with no issues so now it's personal and now my membership was terminated with them. All good because I'll find a way better studio that is directly associated with Club Pilates and not Spartan so beware but they said that this is their number one location. It's one of their worst locations however it was the closest to my house so it was convenient in that sense and inconvenient in many other regards.

I was confronted by a male member who appeared to be upset about what was written on my shirt\. Whatever his personal disagreement may have been with the message, I believe I have the right to peacefully wear clothing expressing my views, provided that the message does not violate a legitimate, neutral facility rules. I did not threaten this individual, make threats against anyone, or engage in conduct intended to cause harm\. I also dispute any characterization of my shirt or my expression as "slander\." Slander generally concerns a false spoken statement about another person that causes legally cognizable harm; merely wearing a shirt containing an opinion, political statement, or other expression is not automatically slander. More importantly, I am concerned about the broader pattern of what I perceive as interference with my rights. On a prior occasion, I believe a woman interfered with my ability to pray. I now feel that I am being confronted over what I choose to wear and express on my clothing. These incidents have caused me to question whether I am being treated differently because of my religious beliefs, identity, or viewpoint.

She takes her time with you and explains each move and how it helps your organs and or limbs. She starts her classes by asking you what's bothering you so you can work on it for that session. She knows the moves for everything. :) I've been taking her group classes for a little over a year now and although my schedule only permits Saturday's I look forward to my weekly session. Neither of us have either had any experience at Yoga but Debra, the beginner class instructor is great. She is passionate, insightful and engaging which makes her classes very enjoyable and we certainly get a lot out of them. The style of Yoga is called Iyengar Yoga and in class we utilize a lot of different props which help you attain the proper poses even if you are not that flexible to begin with so don't be intimidated to try it out. On a side note, my wife wanted to try Yoga because she has heard about its many benefits and wanted a low impact exercise to stay active. I was mainly interested in developing more flexibility and learning to breath better which I have but have also been pleasantly surprised that I sleep better and also lingering back pain that I've had beforehand have disappeared. The studio's rates are pretty reasonable but also watch out for groupon promotions which is how we started.

Debra was late a few times, just like someone else mentioned in another review. She usually went over time too, which is fine for me, but its something to consider if you gotta go somewhere afterwards. I also agree about the snide comments. She comes off as rude, like she is in a rush or something. I personally did not mind, but I could see other people getting thrown off by it. On the bright side, she puts a lot of emphasis on achieving the poses in the proper form, she does demonstrations for every single position, which is great for beginners. It was too slow paced for me. This coupled with her uneasy jumpy attitude did not work for me. But it could definitely work for others. Give it a try, I guess.
