I've been coming to AMH for ~2-3 months now since I realized my Insurance covered some sessions and figured why not? I've have lingering back and ankle issues due to years of ankle sprains from basketball without proper PT and running a half marathon using the wrong shoes that caused a lifetime supply of plantar fasciitis. In my 2-3 months since coming to AMH, I've had the chance to work with the following people: 1. Dr. Kate McCarthy (Chiropractor) 2. Kyle Pigney (Rehab Specialist) 3. Michael Jamlang (Acupuncture) I have to be honest in that this 1,2,3 combo has been amazing. First Dr. McCarthy was super helpful in actual understanding root causes for a lot of my back and ankle pains. Second, Kyle was then able to show a lot of exercises to help alleviate the discomfort but also strengthen weak areas that were causing those pains. I've probably gotten like 10-15 solid exercises/stretches I've incorporated into my workouts as a warm-up or cool down and have noticed MAJOR differences in my flexibility and reduction in pain. Lastly, Michael was able to further loosen and release very tight areas in my ankles and hips through acupuncture and electrotherapy to further loosen tight areas. I leave his office immediately feeling looser which enables deeper stretches that help strengthen weak areas that would typically be too tight to address. All in all, I've been super happy with my time at AMH and appreciate all their help in my physical recovery and journey! read more

Yikes - avoid this place. Originally, I thought this was a great place for care but that eventually came to an end. I advise you to avoid the chain Aligned altogether honestly -- I went to both the West Loop and South Loop. I stand by my original review of acupuncture by Dr. Kalin but unfortunately he moved sometime last summer so the experience changed for the worst. read more

I was unsure of the efficacy of chiropractic but I knew I had to do something about the constant back pain that was causing me to walk bent over at a 45 degree angle. I've been going for about a month and my pain level has lessened dramatically. The simple exercises I've been taught, along with the chiropractic adjustments and stretches I get at every visit have changed my life. Dr Kelsey Tangel is a miracle worker! First of all, thank you so, so much for your help. Dr Tangel was kind, attentive, and let me say what I needed to say. She also gave me space to let what was going on with my body speak for itself. My pain levels went from an 8/10 after my car accident to the 1 - 2 range after my 4 week therapy, and even 0 on days when I am pain free. I still have soreness and some limited range of motion but I know I'm on the right track, and I am light years ahead of where I started. I can't say enough good things about the AMH team as a whole. In just 4 weeks, this team has worked together to drastically help improve my overall physical, mental, and emotional health. This review is in regards to Dr. Jessica Hehmeyer and her exquisite understanding of functional medicine and nutrition. I have spent the last two years going to some of Chicago's best dermatologists and allergists to try to find answers for my chronic sinusitis and atopic dermatitis. None of them were able to offer me long-lasting relief from my symptoms. Nor did they attempt to deeply understand what was going on. At my wit's end, I thought maybe a nutritionist would be able to guide me in the right direction. I only wish I had thought of coming here sooner! Dr. Hehmeyer ordered a series of blood work and food sensitivity tests. She came up with a personalized wellness plan for me based on the results, recommending supplements to aid with detoxification and particular deficiencies. I also needed to revamp my diet, cutting out gluten and dairy (which I was a bit uncertain about as a lifelong cheese fanatic, but I was willing to give it a try if it meant not dealing with the unbearable itchiness of eczema). It required a serious commitment, and the first few weeks were challenging as my body was detoxifying. But three months later, I can proudly say that my skin is nearly eczema-free during the depths of winter, a joy that I haven't experienced in years! And my sinus headaches have also dropped considerably in frequency! Dr. Hehmeyer takes the time to listen to ALL your symptoms, and explain how the different functions of the body work together. I always had a hunch that my sinusitis and eczema had a common root cause, but it wasn't until I saw Dr. Hehmeyer that I learned my hunch was right, and the body cannot be compartmentalized into specialties, but must be viewed as a whole to find true healing. She was even able to connect my other chronic condition - hypothyroidism - to my healing plan, and my thyroid levels have improved considerably without any change in medication. I've had a bulging disc in my neck since 2014, and refused to see a Chiropractor due to all the horror stories I'd heard over the years. At times the pain became excruciating to the point where I needed to use my hands to help lift my head off of the pillow, so I finally broke down and made an appointment with Aligned Modern Health (recommended by a friend). From the moment I walked through the doors, everyone (Cat, Demetrios, Alaina, Victoria, Dr. Erik Korzen) has been professional, friendly and fun. Dr. Korzen has been AMAZING. He knew I was reluctant in making the appointment so he asked if I wanted to spend a few minutes addressing my concerns, and he talked me through the movements/adjustments so I was comfortable/prepared. He warned me I might be sore for the next day or two, and made sure I could contact him at any time in case I had any questions or my pain level increased. You can tell he really cares about his patients' health and well-being. I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner. I just finished with my 5th session and my pain level continues to significantly decrease with each session. I'm already looking forward to my next session, and I highly recommend Dr. Korzen and Aligned Modern Health. read more

The last place I visited moved too fast with the diagnosis and made me feel uneasy when it was time to pay for visits. Acupuncture - Dr. Kelsey Tangel is wonderful. This is my 1st time considering this type of treatment. I'm 29- Insomnia runs in my family and Dr. Tangel helped me not rely on Zquil/NyQuil etc to sleep, she also made me more "regular" which I thought was not possible bc it was "how I am", AND helped me relieve neck tension/stress. She educated me on some natural forms of sleep aid, supplemented info with a book, and her acupuncture really helped me to focus on me! Also Katie give GREAT massages- trained well you get your money worth! I highly suggest not just acupuncture but the team at south loop- I don't believed my experience would have been the same with just anyone! I visited Caitlin for a 9 visit acupuncture package and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Caitlin is professional, great listener, and has helpful suggestions along with her excellent technique. She helped all my issues and I highly recommend her. Very negative experience. On my initial visit, they tried to charge me two different insurance copays ($50 and $30). When I told them it's incorrect and I should only be charged one, they refused to even listen to me. It took my insurance company's involvement to resolve this, and then they wouldn't even apologize for the mistake. Also, for some reason they treat the initial visit specially and charge $50 copay instead of $30 even though my insurance company covers this at $30. All other similar chiropractic practices in the neighborhood charge $30. In fact, one of them has actually waved the first visit's copay for me. Given this, why would anyone chose Aligned Modern Health over others? I wish them well, but given South Loop's saturated chiropractic practice market it will be very difficult for them to compete. read more

This review is for Dr. Korzen, Cat and Katie. I receive chiropractic care from Dr. Korzen and he is a wonderful practitioner to work with. He truly cares about identifying and treating the problem and finding the best treatment plan to work for your road to recovery. Cat, the clinic manager is also amazing. She makes sure you understand the all the details of your insurance benefit is always flexible with scheduling. She is always upbeat, warm and welcoming. I recently started seeing Katie the massage therapist as part of my treatment plan as well and she's a great massage therapist who gives focused treatment to problem areas. This was my first experience with a chiropractor and I'm SO glad I went. I didn't really want to go because I was there for a work injury - and I was in pain. I was overall really nervous about the whole experience. If you are questioning yourself on whether or not to go, book an appointment with them! You won't regret it. Every person I met was friendly, kind and understanding. From the initial phone call with Madison, to the expertise in the exam room, to the "homework exercises" they gave me that WORK, to the strange but AMAZING chiropractor back alignment cracking thing, it was a great experience. Last November, I was rear ended and luckily walked away with just whiplash. Shortly after the accident, my primary doctor referred me to Aligned Modern Health. Dr. Korzen took me in just days after I called. Then, a few weeks into seeing him, I got into a SECOND CAR ACCIDENT. The very next day, I went in to see Dr. Korzen and he did a re-exam and got me started on my 2nd personal injury case... I just had THE WORST experience here. I had an interview scheduled for immediately after my session and wanted to be able to decompress with an acupuncture session. About 10 minutes into the session while I was attempting to relax with needles I start hearing a woman singing opera at the top of her lungs. Yes it was annoying and distracting but I figured she stopped soon. She kept singing throughout more than half my session. Unbelievable!!!! People go to this center to relax, not listen to someone's talent. It was so unprofessional I'm at a loss for words. I'm now leaving more stressed out than I was before coming here. This ruined a day that was suppose to be relaxing. Never again. read more

As a chronic sufferer of sinusitis and the terrible headaches/pressure that follow, acupuncture was recommended to me by friends. I could not have had a better experience than with Dr. Bobolos aka Demetrios. Our initial consultation consisted of him listening to my symptoms (suffering); he then explained the benefits of acupuncture and a few diet tweaks that might be able to help. After having 3 sessions with the third being because I have a new found love of acupuncture and Eastern medicine, I have experienced zero sinus headaches and little to no pressure on a day to day basis. The entire team from Dr. Korzen to Cat, the clinic manager, are amazing at what they do. Highly recommend their services and can't thank Dr. Bobolos enough. read more

I have to say, that most Chiropractors I know just run a fast paced business, and its all about rotating patients and table turns. I started going to Aligned Modern Health in Nov. 2016 for severe lower back pain, sciatic nerve from my pregnancy. I was in terrible pain and waited, and waited to address the issue- having a newborn didn't exactly allow for much free time. The first few visits I saw Dr. Korzen exclusively- the pain was so bad I could no longer walk up stairs. I began an aggressive treatment- as I was returning to work- and I work on my feet all day- it was necessary. The pain decreased- Dr. K introduced me to physical therapy- and I have to say most times I feel like the past offices I have gone thru have pushed unnecessary services on me. I didn't want to just heal- I explained that I wanted the pain to be gone- and I wanted to do preventative care. I inquired about acupuncture. I was a total skeptic that it would actually work- but I needed a fast(er) healing experience. I had previously only tried acupuncture once for a severe spasm in my calf from over-working it and not properly stretching. It worked then, but my back was in such agony and it was due to birth- I didn't think acupuncture would be the solution. Dr. Korzen introduced me to Demetrios, the acupuncturist. Demetrios walked me thru the process and the sensations I may, or may not feel. I am pretty nervous about needles- and having endured a lot of medical trauma over the last 2 years... the idea of submitting myself to poking of needles- for pain relief, was almost laughable. The main area to target was my lower back. I was confused as to why if I was targeting my lower back- Demetrios would use needles on my neck, shoulders, head, and feet. He explained in detail what each needle was for and that it was a whole body treatment. When using the needles on my low back my skin had a red reaction which indicated inflammation. After the first session I couldn't believe how much better I felt. In two weeks with 2 sessions a week I saw a drastic change in my pain level. We then increased the treatment to be a full body healing session- and preventive care. Demetrios knew I was a certified yoga teacher, and he tied that in with my healing- teaching me new breath work to deal with a high stress job. After 10 sessions- for the first time in 4 years I had minimal pain. I think one of the best parts is that when I would get a sensation from the needle--- I would feel relief- but he would get excited that he hit the spot. He was easy to relate to- so much so I dragged my skeptical husband in, who then also started seeing him and agreed- we should have tried acupuncture long ago. I have to say that this location has a staff that genuinely cares for its patients. I had a newborn, and with her being only 2 months old- I struggled finding care for her. I would have to take her to the appointments with me, and my husband and I would switch off. One getting serviced and one caring for her. In the event my daughter needed a feeding or change--- the team worked with us squeezing us in between other patients- in the event those feedings bumped us. They genuinely care for people, and although my situation was extreme, and I understand Aligned is not a day care- they always made me feel welcomed. read more

I've had persistent hip pain for the last 20 months. I consulted another clinic, and we worked on some muscular and alignment issues for several weeks, which resulted in some improvement. When AMH opened in my neighborhood, I figured I'd go in for some maintenance on the old problem. However, within 10 minutes of talking, Dr. Korzen diagnosed my issue as a bulging disc. This was such a different diagnosis, that I admit I didn't believe him at first, but went along with it. After two weeks of modified exercise and posture adjustments at work and some minimal PT at home I was pain free. I have been back to working out 5 times a week for almost 2 months with no symptoms. I never thought I would get this level of comfort and activity back. Korzen and his team are professional, kind, personable, and great at their jobs. Cat is particularly great at helping navigate insurance issues, so don't let that be a hurdle. Elena has taught me great tips for staying safe while I work out. Great team.
