She also does a great job explaining the process and offering options when there is more than one way to achieve the look you're going for. She did an incredible job getting my hair to the perfect color and length for my wedding - from sharing advice on products to use, to recommending timing for services, to doing perfect color match to cover my little wild grays in the front, to surface cutting to remove dead ends without taking too much length, to cutting my halo extensions to blend in well with my cut. In addition to her fabulous cuts, she also does great color on brunette hair, which is not always easy to find. I've had her do balayage, highlights, and all over color throughout the years I've been going to her and I have been impressed with all! I appreciate that she explains what a maintenance plan will look like before you commit so you know what you're getting into. She takes her time to make sure your hair is perfect. I appreciate that she listens to what I'm having problems with my hair (headaches from the weight, breakage, damage, ect) and guides me to attainable solutions. Her double debulking technique has helped me SIGNIFICANTLY. We recently started doing Keratin treatments which cut my blow drying time in half! (!!!) Additionally, I've enjoyed less frizz in Austin's humidity from the humidity - definitely recommend a keratin treatment.

I was impressed with her background working a number of NY and Paris fashion weeks to teaching cutting edge techniques. It's so rare to find a stylist and colorist in one. Before Heather, I changed stylists after every cut or color. She has such an incredible eye to detail, listens to what I want, and is QUICK. I have thin hair and she keeps me honest with my style requests- since my jet black hair with bangs to my blond days, and now into my bronde. She's supported my extra long layered hippie hair and helped transform it to a manageable length with a curtain bang. Heather teaches me ways to keep my hair healthy and gives me realistic tips on how to style my hair. She (unknowingly) helped prepare me for my elopement, where I was going to be in the wild, rainy, windy mountains of Scotland i.e.: no hair stylist there! She was incredibly flexible while scheduling my appointment, as exams and life seem to get away from me on a weekly basis (oops). She was happy to accommodate my schedule and make it work for me. The salon suites that Fifth House is located in was nice, a complex of small entrepreneurs with mini salons to themselves - it was cool! She welcomed me in and was excited to hear about the changes that I was looking for, and didn't hesitate to get right to it. The cut she gave me is perfect, I can't seem to find a stylist who will cut off enough to get rid of my split ends! Finally, she obliged when I mentioned this! Coloring my hair took a bit of time, but that wasn't awkward or a big deal because both Grey and her coworker, Noelle, were talkative and genuinely great people. The environment they create is relaxed and cool, and would make any shy introvert feel... normal!
