First time dining at this place. My mother was recommended by a neighbor and was pleased with my experience. Delicious food and reasonable prices. Good presentation of the food. In all we ordered: 3 pupusas, a fried chicken plate, chicken flautas, 3 pastries, and a atole de elote beverage for a total of $35. Will be returning.

Employees are always super nice. I've placed to go orders and also dined in. We get food from here every few weeks cause it's consistently good. We are honduran and love getting food from here. I also love the jamaica(hibiscus) drink that they make here. Also the fact that I can get banana drinks here too. Well lit, simple location.

Alicia's Bakery Pupusería y Panadería absolutely deserves a 5-star review! We had the $25 special, which came with 10 pupusas of our choice and 4 chicken flautas topped with cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. Everything was delicious and super filling. What really stood out was how generous they were with the curtido (repollo) and salsa--they don't hold back at all, which is such a huge plus. In this economy, the affordability and quality here really shine. We also tried the pan con pollo migueleño, which was packed to the brim with flavor. It's a little messy to eat, but totally worth it. While we waited, we had some baleadas sencillas and they were fantastic--the refried black beans are especially flavorful. Overall, we were really happy with the portion sizes, taste, and price. I also highly recommend trying the pollo frito con tajadas, and for pupusa fillings, go for frijoles con queso or loroco con queso--both are excellent. They offer a variety of soups too, which I'm looking forward to trying next time. I do recommend ordering to-go, since the dine-in setup is pretty basic. Also, a basic understanding of Spanish helps, as most of the staff speak little or no English, or be ready to use Google Translate. I wish they had online ordering (it would make things easier), but luckily, they are on DoorDash. Definitely a hidden gem worth supporting!

Didn't get a photo of the pupusas but they were so good. I mean everything was delicious and cheap. We got 2 orders of the yuca frita, 3 pupusas (chicarrone, camarón, chorizo) and chicken enchiladas; total came out to be $25. Soooooo good.

Cheese and loroco pupusa

I had been working in Katy and upon having a pupusa conversation I searched for a place in Katy. I went to Alicia's. Staff is friendly. They have sit-down dining. I was disappointed that they were out of the fruit salad agua fresca. I ordered a cheese and loroco pupusa. It comes with the usual cabbage and tomato sauce. The curtido (cabbage) was too vinegary. It was over done. I've had better pupusas in Houston. I ordered a corn tamal to go. They gave me salty cream to accompany it. The tamal could have been more moist. Prices are very reasonable. I paid $3.50 for both items. The staff in the restaurant were very nice but I don't know if I'd go back for pupusas.

Fajita pupusas with cheese were sooo good. I ordered 6 and they took like 15-20 mins which isn't bad. The lady at the front was nice too. Will be coming back when I visit Katy again

Took way too long to get my orders. Their pupusas were not great nor their pan con pollo. It was too salty! Friendly staff.

I tried the pupusas de frijol y queso, and they were very good--the tortillas were nicely toasted, which I personally enjoy. The curtido came in a small scoop (for 1 popusa); unlike most Salvadoran restaurants, they don't offer self-serve curtido, and I'm not sure if they would charge extra for more. The tamal de pollo was okay. The masa was a bit dry but had good flavor. I also tried the ensalada drink, which wasn't what I expected--it usually has agua de marañon, but this one was made with watermelon juice instead. Still, it was refreshing. Customer service was excellent, and I appreciated the easy QR code payment option. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere and plays Christian music throughout the day. They also offer Mexican dishes, which I haven't tried yet, but I might on my next visit. Overall, I would recommend El Sol and would definitely come again for more Salvadoran food!

We got some bean and cheese pupusas which were good with the sauce and curtido - pickled vegetables. We also had the camarones a la diabla which is a shrimp dish simmered in a chipotle sauce. It was a bit disappointing - not spicy at all. The food overall was a bit bland and could use more salt. It was kind of hot during the first half of the meal in the restaurant and they were playing awkward church type music which is not the vibe for when I'm eating dinner at a restaurant. The food was okay but I would not go back.

Offers beer, wine, and happy hour The old school Burgers I'm used to: Toast their buns and I love a toasted bun. They also offer Turkey burgers. I've tried the turkey burger once and the meat patty reminded me of a smash burger style patty, so next time, I think I'll get two. I also customized the burger with bacon, blue cheese, pickles, and a hard fried egg which made for a nice addition of flavors. Queso tasted home made. Cleaned the bowl! Sweet potato fries, let's say they've managed to achieve a nicely cut proportionate fry with the authentic sweet potato flavor and texture that's not soggy.

Menu had a lot of burger variations so we selected the BBQ Burger w/ FFs and we split it. Burger came out pretty fast. And it was spot on. Thick patty, crispy bacon and a good BBQ sauce. Patty was still juicy, just like it should. FFs were crispy. Really good meal and just enough for us. We visited with the waitress and she said the restaurant was her parents. I had noticed that they do breakfast tacos and papusas. She said he mother was from El Salvador and the papusas were legit. Guess what I'm having the next time. Hearing their story was great - nice to hear someone succeed. They have beer n wine and a happy hr. If you like old school burger you got to try Old School Burger.
