We originally had issues with our HVAC (AC) not cooling properly for the first and second levels of…read moreour home. In the past we had another HVAC service firm whom we parted ways with due to unsound business practices (they suggested replacement of $5,000 AC units even though they only had a small leak. The other firm also replaced parts that could have been fixed and there was a pattern of constant upsell and overcharging (we verified this with independent professionals). This led us to Cork's here in Huntley, and it was a great decision. Cork's sent someone very quickly, even though there were many other customers with similar issues this time of year. Gil did the original inspection and then Frank (owner) came a day later as we had to wait for the coils to defrost completely, which made sense. Both were very knowledgeable and trustworthy. They did not give me a bunch of BS about replacing the entire unit, but rather refilled the Puron and injected a dye/sealant. We will monitor it over the next year and call them if we notice issues. They suggested that these 2008 units should have a decent lifespan (possibly up to 20 years if built well) and that most repairs can be done part-wise as things are properly diagnosed over time and replaced. This built a lot of trust with me out of the gate. All of Frank's employees work directly for him, not on commissions, and you don't get the sense there's a constant 'upsell' or 'vague rationale' for larger more costly replacements. The other very great experience was this. We had two toilets that for over year now have been refilling their water tanks on their own constantly (and increasing water $). I replaced the intakes and flappers myself twice to no avail. Frank took the time to fix both toilets in a matter of minutes and knew exactly what the problem was, right during the service for the HVAC. It was nice of him to make the time as I know he was already in hurry to his next appointment but wanted to make sure I was a satisfied customer. We appreciate Cork's business ethics, professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond for customers. Thank you from Nick and Kimberly.

My feeling is they were hoping you'd be desperate once they arrive. D&D were straight shooters from the front. Spoke with Brian and he gave a quote right away and answered some concerns we had after getting quotes/ideas from other companies. Felt he gave honest and sincere advice, along with a quote $500 cheaper for installing the same unit another company quoted us. Within a five minute conversation I knew he was the guy for us. I told wife I had a great feeling after speaking with Brian. Came promptly the next morning and was done within a couple hours. Left the place spotless (even with dirty snow and salt all over our driveway/garage). Very respectful of our home and making sure there was no sign of work done, outside of our new unit. Definitely will keep D&D in mind for future work!

We decided to call Dave at Gotsch Heating and Cooling for a second opinion. He came out as soon as he was able and tested the unit to find out exactly what was wrong with it. He was able to tell us why our AC was dead and recommended that we replace the furnace and AC at the same time for a discount. He wasnt able to get the new AC installed in time for the heat wave to be over, but he did fill our leaking AC to get us enough cooling power to get us through. He installed the new units about a week later and did a great job. The pricing was fair and we got a discount as promised for doing both the AC and furnace. We'd definitely recommend.

I called out Sherman Mechanical to diagnosis and repair. It turned out that it was a much bigger problem than I thought. The Septic Line pipes outside were broken in two spots. With the use of a special camera they were able to show me pictures of the broken pipes. I was quoted a fair price by Kevin Christensen so they completed the repairs on a timely basis. They were extremely good and careful in making sure that the damage during the excavation which included removing cement and digging up a very large part of the yard in that area was as minimal as possible. So I was very pleased and paid the billing. But that is not the best of what Sherman did for me. Just recently in reviewing my insurance policy I realized that I had coverage in my policy for any Septic Field repairs. I was not aware of that at the time the job was completed. So I called my insurance co. and asked if I could still make a claim. Fortunately I could open up a claim but I needed documentation and pictures etc. So one and a half years after the job was completed I reached out to Mr Kevin Christensen at Sherman Mechanical to ask him if he had any records and photos of the previous job. He had all of the records, payment receipts, and photos which gave me exactly the documentation that I needed. The insurance co. made payment on the claim today. Thank You Kevin.
