Small, quaint, and the food is decent. I wasn't too pleased with the service - the busboy was more attentive than anyone else. There were no smiles from the staff at all, sadly. My coworkers and I made the stop here as opposed to Main Street Ale House (which I favor). I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, which was said to be made of organic beef. It was fine, but nothing special. The pasta salad was a nice side though, and that was pretty damn good. (No fries available here!) Does anyone actually like the food at Alexa Cafe? I have lived here for a year and people keep suggesting it and say it is the best breakfast ever. Third and last visit ever today. Same thing, nice cut bacon tortured to the point of being burnt and ruined. Cold stale tasting, yet mealy chunks of "homefries". They even somehow made a terrible croissant sandwich. Egg rubber, brown and overcooked. Cheese cold and congealed. Same overcooked bacon. I had the misfortune of going out on a limb and ordering a scramble ie: burnt eggs, a flat mess. My toast was decent. Every time without fail this place has been terrible across the board. Am I missing something? read more

I think it's really hard to find a terrific place for brunch and Alexa's did not make the cut. I mean, it was ok. The food we ordered was edible and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. It was clear to me that they get a lot of regular customers so they must be doing something right! Overall the experience was average but the breakfast food (my lackluster crab benedict + bf's scramble) didn't wow us enough to become regulars. Plus we spent a lot of money for what we got.. Alexa's not only is a cafe, but it also has it's own catering department. I had been to Alexa's several times as far as the cafe goes, but didn't even know about their catering department until we started planning our wedding. When I saw that they did catering I instantly starting inquiring. They were an absolute joy to work with, I probably e-mailed them 50 different times at the beginning, and they responded each and every time. They were so patient and willing to work with me and our budget. We booked over a year in advance, and they helped with each and every step of the way. As the time got closer to the wedding, they even threw in a few extra things here and there to help us out. I couldn't have asked for a better caterer, they were so perfect. The food was absolutely incredible, and they did such a great job on the day of the wedding. We had to do a room flip to transform the ceremony into the reception, and they handled the whole thing included in their original quote. After the wedding was over, they completely cleaned the kitchen and tore down everything for us. If you need a caterer for any event, I would definitely recommend them. Went here for lunch on a weekday, the food was incredible. I got the chicken curry, perfect. My boyfriend was very satisfied with his meal as well. The reason that I rate two stars is the service. All the staff seemed like they were having the worst day ever. The hostess showed us to our table, threw the menus down. Our server, Jessica, never said hello when she greeted our table. I work nearby and have given this place a try four times for lunch over the past 5 months. I'm sad to report that everything I've had (the Thai Chicken Salad, Meatloaf sandwich, Curry Chicken Salad, and some chicken sandwich) have all been extremely BLAND. I'm taking very little flavor for the amount of ingredients they have on them. I don't know if they're just not salting and seasoning enough through the cooking process, but seriously.. add a dash of salt. It will bring out the flavors! It seems a lot of people have commented on this blandness in the food, perhaps Alexas's should take note! I'm eating the Thai Chicken Salad right now actually, and I'm pretty sure it's the same chicken salad they use in the Curry Chicken Salad, but with "Coconut Peanut" dressing instead of the curry dressing. It pretty much tastes exactly the same. Which is to say it tastes like nothing. I had to douse it in Sriracha to give it any flavor at all. Lame. read more

I have been coming here with one of my Meetup groups for several months now and can't believe that I have not reviewed Alexa's. It is located in the small downtown area of Bothell (which is currently under construction...so you have been warned.) The best bet for parking is in the back and there is also a backdoor to the restaurant. The ambiance is nice. Sometimes we are a large group and they are always accommodating...never rushing us and always getting our food to us at the same time. It is also a place where you can have a conversation without shouting across the table. The food is always good. I had a chicken quesadilla which had a nice combination of dry and fresh herbs. It comes with a salad, fresh salsa, and sour cream. In the past, I have had the 1/2 Greek Salad and the hummus plate...both were great. Our friends ordered the BBQ chicken salad and the vegan eggs benedict which looked great...she said that it was the best EB she's ever eaten. The wait staff is so nice...good place for a Meetup or a leisurely lunch or dinner. (I also understand that the breakfasts are wonderful...haven't had a chance to try them yet.) read more

My wife and I visited Alexa's for brunch on Sunday morning and were not disappointed. The decor is pleasant enough though they have no booths (which we prefer) only tables. Carpet and acoustic tiles help keep the noise level average so you can have a conversation with your table mates. I was somewhat shocked by the negative reviews I found on Yelp and decided to keep close track of timing and service quality. Here's our experience; it's 10:30 a.m., though they were quite busy we were seated within 10 minutes. We had about 5 minutes to look over the menus and coffee was brought promptly, then our order was taken . Food arrived about 12 minutes later. I chose the Breakfast Burrito which is presented not wrapped like a burrito but more as a soft shelled taco laid on it's side (no matter to me). My wife decided on a half order of the Country Grub. Each entree was very satisfying and more than enough food for us (it was more than enough but of course we ate it all anyway). So if you leave hungry you can only blame yourself. Both our orders came with plenty of red potatoes, cooked so that they were just firm enough to hold together but not so well grilled that they began to look or taste burned. I appreciated that the salsa and sour cream were served on the side with the burrito so I could add what I wanted. I read some reviews than mentioned bland food. Not these menu items. There were reviews siting snotty waitstaff, nope not today. Slow service? Everyone on the floor was hustling their butts and they were pleasant to talk with. I saw one review that complained of being charged a dollar extra for toast with the eggs benedict. It's eggs benny you moron, I've never seen a restaurant that included toast with eggs benny...you get an english muffin with the egg on top. That's how it's done. We used our entertainment book coupon for a free entree but would come back here even without a coupon. This is an adorable cafe. When I looked up places to eat around my apartment for breakfast, this place kept coming up as an option. I wasn't sure what to expect from here, but we walked over to try it out. Warning, there is only street parking available and it looks like the area filled up pretty fast, so I have no idea where some of these people parked. We were seated pretty quickly at 9am on a Sunday morning. The workers were super polite to me and my mom, and I tried the pancakes and my mom tried the French toast. She didn't really like hers but she did like the eggs and bacon, but I did love my pancakes. They were huge, so unless you're starving I recommend the short stack. Tried this place when I first visited the Seattle area before permanently moving to Bothell. We will defining make this a regular weekend breakfast stop. Pancakes were AMAZING! Fluffy and delicious! :) Our waitress was so friendly and we even talked about us all living in Florida and how different (but beautiful) this area is! Love the family atmosphere. Would have given 5 stars but I would like to see turkey bacon and/or turkey or chicken sausage on the breakfast menu. That seems to be hard to find in this area! After reading some good reviews for this place, decided to check it out. Which I shouldn't have.. - Wife had the veggie omelet with ham.. It was cold inside. The potatoes she received were bland and some of them were cold also.. Around 50% .. She didn't finish them. -I ordered the cinnamon raisin pancakes with my eggs, potatoes and sausage.. I make better pancakes at home using Bisquick. The potatoes were very bland also.. sausage was okay.. I usually drink at least 3 cups of coffee when having breakfast outside of my own kitchen.. that is, when the coffee is good.. This wasn't.. Will I go back? nope, I sure won't but will try Krazy Korner right down the street. Waffle house would be better IMHO. read more

Service was pretty good for a breakfast outing with two coworkers. Ordered French Toast slam... And my coworker ordered banana French toast. Both orders came out with the bottoms burnt! They intentionally put the burnt part (visibly burnt!) face down- the busy waitress actually never came back to check on us. Not even a "how is everything?" Another guy did offer to refill the water glasses and our coffee - only saw waitress again when she dropped off the check - the coffee was at least ok. Probably won't ever eat here again. read more

We decided to try something different for a change and decided to take a little drive for our weekend breakfast. There was a wait when we go there but it moved quickly. The place had a great atmosphere. It felt like a large family having breakfast. The omelets we had were fresh and cooked to perfection. They had tons of fresh veggies and weren't too greasy. They potatoes were fresh and obviously hand cut. We shared some french toast which was great. They also had this awesome dill bread which was to die for. OK- I am going to be brutally honest. I don't like this place at all. I have been 2x. I know I wanted to give them a fair chance before I yelped them. First time super slow service. i can look over this if the food is good, but it was not. First trip- Taco salad- gross and they serve the salsa and sour cream in plastic round containers-tacky. I was trying to eat healthy and it worked because I did not eat but 3 bites. Second trip- Chicken sandwich- never had a more disgusting thing EVER! Dry and no flavor. My husband ordered an chile relleno burger- his response after we left was never going there again. I totally agree. Fake hollandaise sauce they say is homemade. My daughter french toast sticks were decent (how can you mess that up), but the syrup had a major chemical aftertaste. She did not finish. We went there after my daughters soccer game we were all starving and we left starving. Not fun after the bill was over $60.00 for crap food. I had high expectations for this place, although I do not know anyone who I know that has recommended it to me. Just see a lot of ads for them in local papers and the name is cute and so is the little girl, but the food was a total disappointment. Service was really bad both times too. I came back after a nice run from Bothell to Woodinville and back. This time I had the banana french toast...which was simple yet satisfying but it wasn't just the food this time. I LOVE Alexa's. Love. Love. Love. A quirky, fun diner with some really fun breakfast dishes. They have waffles and pancakes and french toast, but they take it a step further. I had a pancake with coconut, raisins, and bananas. My wife has a french toast with cinnamon and other goodness. Breakfast can be so boring and they add some spice to it. It's reflected in the restaurant from floor to ceiling. Mis-matched tables and chairs, fun artowkr on the walls, and an extremely friendly waitstaff make them a must. Cute little diner - Stopped in for breakfast. They have a number of specials M-F (for lunch & breakfast), and they all sound good. I am especially interested in coming back on a Thursday for lunch (one of the specials on that day is a Brie & Chicken Quesadilla served with mango salsa) - Sounds good, hu? I ordered the Eggs Benedict - Two Poached Eggs & Ham on a toasted English Muffin, smothered with delicious home-made Hollandaise Sauce, served with country New Potatoes. $10.95 The potatoes are just small potatoes, quartered and sauteed - but add a little salt and pepper, and they are quite yummy. The Eggs Benedict was made perfectly, and they seemed a little extra greasy (which I didn't mind, since I had a hangover) The coffee is strong, I don't normally add cream or sugar to my coffee...but I did. My kids shared a small stack of pancakes, a peach muffin (with a brown sugar crumb topping), a side of fruit, and a side of bacon. Kids are also given crayons and pages to color. I did find it odd, that the restaurant advertises that this can be your new hot spot for hanging out at night - but they close at 8 & 9 pm. Food: Good selection of basic breakfast and lunch items. My husband recently had a bacon, egg, and cheese scramble, while I had a french toast breakfast with bacon and scrambled eggs. Everything was fine, but nothing spectacular. My french toast was made with a nice thick slice of sourdough, but there wasn't a lot of the egg covering that I really like on french toast. My bacon was a bit overcooked and too crispy for my liking. I actually prefer bacon that is a bit fatty, soft, and chewy. My husband's scramble was fine and so were the home fries it came with, but again nothing too special. I thought the portions seemed to be on the smaller side as well. Service: We were sat quickly and placed our orders within a few minutes of being seated. Our coffees and waters took a while to get to our tables however. Our server also forgot my request for extra creamer for my coffee. Food came relatively quickly afterwards. Value: Decently priced, but portions seemed a bit smaller than other restaurants that served similar items with either comparable prices or even lower prices than Alexa's. Ambiance: Alexa's is in the heart of downtown Bothell. It is a very charming, cute, and quaint restaurant with lots of country-inspired decorations and flair. Real neighborhood feel. We bought a groupon for this place and I'm so glad we did! We try to go to a new breakfast spot a few times a month and this will be a repeat spot for us. It was busy on a Sunday morning, but we only waited ten minutes even though they estimated 20. Very good at turning tables over to get everyone seated. I ordered the Dad's combo, three eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes. It was all good, eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was the best I've ever had. The potatoes were perfect! Big pieces but still soft, which is how I like them. The sourdough toast was thick and NOT drenched in butter like a lot of breakfast places make the mistake of doing it. Nothing was greasy....so good! The boyfriend had the Alexa's Slam. He had eggs and substituted the morning glory pancakes for regular. They also substituted potatoes instead of bacon, for free. The pancakes were so good! Whole wheat with pineapple, walnuts, coconut, carrots and raisins. So hearty! The serving staff were great! Very friendly and efficient. It was nice that everyone would refill drinks, so you were never left waiting for your specific server. Cute decor too. We will be back for sure! read more

I have always been pleasantly pleased with the food and service when I have visited the cafe... but the other day Alexa's catered our local Chamber of Auction luncheon and they rocked! They were set up and ready on time, the presentation was beautiful, the food was fabulous and the service was great! Doesn't get much better than that! I lived in Bothell for years and Alexa's was one of my regular places. It's so homey and sweet, the perfect place to come to enjoy a good book, comfy chairs and delicious food. The owner is adorable and gives the whole place energy, and I think it's adorable that the restaurant is named for her daughter. Although I've been here many times, I always go back for my favorite few dishes. I adore the Willow Scramble, which is dependably surprising and comforting with bacon, cream cheese and green onions. Also good for breakfast is the eggs benedict (I love the veggie benny with avocado and tomato instead of ham, and extra hollandaise!) and the french toast. I have to say, I am a hollandaise addict and have an amazing recipe I use at home. I have ordered it so many places and been disappointed, and Alexa's in the only restaurant that lives up to my family recipe! :) Clearly made from scratch, fresh and lemony. For lunch, I continue to return for the curried chicken salad (just like my mum used to make with just a pinch of curry, red grapes, green onions and almond slices for crunch) with a side of the homemade tomato basil soup. Creamy, rich with surprising fresh tomato pieces and always hot and delicious. The wait staff here is amazing and really make you feel at home. The kind of place you could eat breakfast at every day and not get bored. *P.S. As a Cascadia College student, I would stop here on my way to school for the BEST espresso in town! The staff here knows how to make a perfect almond latte, and are more than happy to make you a quick to-go cup. Yum. Service is what you expect in a breakfast place. Not bad, slow, but like I said met expectations. Big portions and reasonable price. The reason for the 3 stars is that I've ordered the avocado/toast several times, it's been pretty sparse on the avocado every time, I was ok with that but this last time I ordered it there was something moldy in the lettuce or tomato or avocado mix on the toast and I had to spit it out! I got a Groupon for 3 on a whim and took my mom out to birthday breakfast. This reminds me of several cafes that I've worked at. Hole in the wall local spot with unique flare. It was a busy Saturday morning and the staff was working hard. We waited 15 minutes and asked for menus so we would know what we wanted as soon as we were seated. I judge a place by a couple of things. 1) I was pleased that they were using cafe Vita. Coffee was great. 2) salsa tasted pretty fresh. Hooray! They didn't serve Pace! 3) I wish the home fries would have been crispy, but overall they had good flavor regardless. 4) The barista working the bar, kept the steam wand clean. I noticed this even from across the room. As a barista it's the little things when you go to another cafe. 5)The staff was friendly and seemed happy even though they seemed spread a little thin. Alexa's is a pretty decent breakfast choice in Bothell. Nothing fancy, it definitely has the feel of Old Bothell. The menu has a nice selection of egg dishes (scrambles and benedicts), as well as pancakes and french toast. Thick maple bacon was a nice touch, and most of the dishes were pretty decent. Price is on the high side, as most were close to $10, but there is an option for half-sized portion, which will knock off a couple of bucks. Service is friendly, but definitely on the slow side as there was basically one server for the entire place. read more

I come here from breakfast on the weekends, coffee and Danica. You walk it and it's super comfy. Families and big tables. It's loud but oh well...it's just chatter from all the happy families and babies. Yes sometimes there is a line but I've never waited more then 10 minutes. If you don't want a line then don't go to a place that is family friendly or eat at home. I love Danica...she runs this joint...the best...always. Always super friendly and quick as lightening...dollface. I love their scrambles and coffee...Queen Anne and the Caprese are my favs. You get a lot of food and toast. Nothing has ever been under cooked or over cooked. The oatmeal.. I suggest a cup with a side of ham and fruit versus the bowl. That bowl has kicked my ass many times...can never finish it..no matter how hard I try. Blueberry for me please ;-) Breakfast burrito is mighty...my man friend usually orders this with blackbeans and avacado instead of sour cream...they always make it without hesitation. It's delish too....not overly packed with cheese, perfect scrambled eggs and a not to much tortila. Very down to earth, and one of the easiest vendors I have worked with so far while planning our wedding. Alexa's is always 100% on point. They have really revamped their space and menu since I had been there as a kid. My sister and I shared their full stack of buttermilk pancakes with banana and the northwest scramble. Both were delicious and made my tummy happy. Dropped the check quickly and closed it fast so I was able to get out of there. Good coffee: Café Vita I believe. Cons: The food is very bland and not up to the standard as expected for the price as mentioned in other reviews. I had the Italian Scramble and comments are: Eggs - not seasoned at all and very bland. Mushrooms used are white button and would be much better with a higher quality like Portabella. Sausage had little taste either. Potatoes: Again unseasoned. They are cut in many different sizes so they do not cook consistently. English Muffin: So funny to see one half toasted golden brown and perfectly and its partner was white and pretty much untoasted. Highly doubt I will return. read more
