I gave the initial $1000 but he wanted $6000 to hold the date and then wanted $14,000 the day before demo started. The contract said when demo was completed. I held my ground but things were never completed fully but he would still want payment. His subs were telling me that they weren't being paid and that was the reason for the hold up. Don't do it!! I've heard more stories about his work from his subs but just based on my experience, I would never recommend him or use him again. Luckily, I had bought all of my materials and I was able to hire reliable people to finish the job.

Imagine going with…read morethis company, they might just ghost midway through the project. =========== AVOID THIS COMPANY, Very unresponsive, and unprofessional, there's a lot better companies out there who are responsive and very friendly. I messaged them on Yelp for an appointment to get a quote on a roof leak after the recent rain, and got a quick response. Appointment was scheduled for 9AM the next day, nobody showed up. At 10:30, these guys show up telling us they are here to tarp our roof and another guy will be out for an estimate (this was already odd to me since my appointment for the quote was at 9). I asked if them doing the tarp was at a charge because in the message conversation, I was told it would be $350. The guys kept saying no, and then eventually told us to call the company to verify because they're not sure. I called the company, and kept getting hung up on several times so I turned the two guys away. 20 minutes later they show up again supposedly to get measurements and the owner will contact me with a quote. It's been 3 days now and I still don't have a quote from this company.

We got bids from 3-4 contractors and decided to go with BCM Builders as the quote was realistic, fair, and comprehensive. We worked mainly with Kyle. Kyle really took his time to walk the site, analyze the project, and put together a comprehensive scope and project plan. He was very patient, calm, collected, and understanding. You don't always get these qualities in a contractor! We also hired an interior designer to help with picking and sourcing most of the finishing (flooring, cabinetry, light fixtures, vanities, counter material, etc) and the teamwork between BCM and our designer was fantastic. Many contractors balk at bringing in interior designers or other third parties and it can be a huge source of conflict- but we felt it made for a very powerful team! Our project was several months worth of work, and it went extremely smoothly. That's not something you'd expect to be able to say! I was blown away. As a rule, stuff was done right, the first time, on budget, and impressively quick. Progress was consistently made- downtime was very minimal. All in all, very impressive. I've had my fair share of bad experiences with contractors, and BCM truly raised the bar in each of these areas. For a job of this size, on a home of this age, there are bound to be a few mixups and emergencies. Handling these is the real test of the quality of a contractor. BCM knocked it out of the park in this area too! We had two different kinds of leak, a weird electrical issue, a few appliance sizing challenges, and some last minute scope changes- all of which Kyle took in stride. He also held his subcontractors to a very high standard, independently arranging for rework in a few instances where he wasn't satisfied with their work. That demonstrated a real sense of pride in his work and ownership of the final product. Lastly, the final product was wonderful. We love our new home, and you can sense the quality and craftsmanship in all the details. The pictures look great- but they don't even hold a candle to actually being in the space. We won't use anyone else!

The job was started on time, every commitment met, and completed as scheduled. There were no surprises and the work was superior. Kyle reviewed with me each day what was scheduled to happen, who would be in my home, what time, and for how long. He was on the job at all times when others were here. His commitment to his craft and doing the job to my satisfaction is commendable. He was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend to anyone looking for someone to do a project (big or small). I recently had a problem with my NEMA 14/50 outlet that was used to charge my Tesla Model Y. It began to get hot and would slow down greatly while charging. Since this was an obvious fire hazard I began to search for an electrician to make the necessary repairs. I came across A&J Construction on Yelp and reached out to them. James quickly responded and was able to come that same day. He advised that before he arrives, I could buy the outlet myself at my local big box store (H D) and he would install it for me in order to save on cost and time. Once James arrived he noticed that my current electrical box was too small and would not work with the new heavy duty receptacle designed for EVs so he left and got what was needed. James completed the job within an hour after arriving and having to go out and buy the additional parts needed. He was very friendly and professional.
