It was a light, summery appetizer in which the earthiness of the beets was offset beautifully by the bright citrus notes. For the entrees, we got the Truffle Carbonara, Pistachio-Crusted Branzino, and the Hanger Steak. All were exceptionally good! My steak was cooked perfectly to medium-rare, was well-seasoned, and was taken up an extra notch by the delicious peppercorn sauce. The branzino was also a big hit with both people who ordered it. They praised the dish at length, and one person kept going back for more bites even after announcing she was stuffed! Our server was vivacious and happily chatted with us about the many menu options, giving us tips about the most popular dishes not just among customers, but the staff as well. She was great! I encourage you to treat yourself to dinner here. It was a lovely meal!

I definitely recommend having a reservation as they were pretty busy on a Sunday morning. The Cappuccino was well-made, soothing, and gave me a much-needed caffeine kick. We got one sweet & one savory dish because that's the best way to brunch! The Steak & Eggs was surprisingly good! The hanger steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I had asked for the eggs to be soft scrambled and I felt like they were a touch overcooked but still enjoyable and paired well with the steak. The brunch potatoes could've been way crispier but I did enjoy the peppers & onions mixed it. The French Toast was fantastic. The coconut butter was a nice addition and it was the right sweetness level overall. Good try for brunch!

My entree was shrimp and grits which was also delicious, the shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was a poached egg on top which always makes everything better. I got to pick a type of bread to go along with the meal and was about to choose sourdough until the server mentioned the option of a fresh baked biscuit! Bonus - it was served with butter and house made jam. My husband got the mojo chicken which was also very good, especially the black bean puree. We also wanted to try the crispy bacon fried rice (which also came with an egg!) and it was something we'd definitely order again. Last but not least, the service was amazing! Can't wait to try their dinner menu.

Perhaps a drizzle of hollandaise sauce would have helped elevate the flavor and make the presentation more appealing. At some point, they ran out of glasses for the mimosas and brought them out in regular white wine glasses. I noticed some employees arguing and one of them was saying that he was going to speak to the higher-ups. In summary, there won't be a repeat visit.

While the inside of the restaurant isn't large (note they have a larger back patio area as well) it's cozy and parties of two may share a larger, communal table which can be a nice way to make friends should you choose. As others have noted it's a BYOB place with a convenient local wine-shop just a minute or two nearby. The menu changes regularly though we got many of the classics that have stayed on the menu (only missing the Angry Chicken which we'll get next time). The pastas were delicious though I wish the rigatoni was a bit saucier and really enjoyed the ravioli which had a lighter, mid-summer flavor with some pine-nuts for extra texture. The ricotta bread and honey was tasty though a large portion for two people and we felt that the standout was the halibut. My only complaint is the 3% mandatory card-processing fee (which at least is prominently displayed). Please also note that this restaurant calculates tips based on the total, not pre-tax amount and the waiter tends to hover while you swipe your card which can feel a bit overbearing.

Paired with the honey and peppercorn were *chefs kiss*. Just a perfect shareable app. The mortadella was also good but smaller than I anticipated. I'd maybe pass on this next time. Honestly this would have paired perfectly with the toast but it was brought out after the toast was finished. We ordered two pastas: the rigatoni and the malfadine. Both were great and cooked perfectly. The quality of ingredients were a standout in both of the dishes. Pork pampanella was the most tender pork I've ever had. Basically melted in your mouth. Very fatty and heavy (a little too heavy...) but delicious. 4.5/5 overall. Some of the dishes were missing a little something to take it all the way but I'd still recommend this spot tho. Also it's BYOB!

The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We started with the French onion soup, although it arrived at the same time as our entrees instead of beforehand. Even so, it ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. Rich and flavorful. For my entree, I ordered the steak and eggs. It was decent, but the quality of the steak wasn't quite what I expected. My mom had the chicken salad, which she said was satisfying, and my husband ordered the eggs, ham, toast and French fries, a solid classic breakfast that he enjoyed. We also had a side of bacon that were tasty and crunchy just I liked them. Overall, Elysian Cafe had a cozy neighborhood atmosphere and good service that makes it a pleasant place to spend a.weekend brunch. That said, I found some of the food to be underwhelming. If you're looking for a charming local bistro, it's worth a visit, but if your main priority is exceptional food, there are stronger brunch options in Hoboken .

The menu we had was specific to the tasting even but all made by the same everyday chef. The first course was white asparagus with a hollandaise sauce and that was so tender and delicious but light enough that I wasn't full at all. The second course was halibut with risotto and crab and there was so much meatiness. It was my favorite place and the flavors went so well together. Next was grilled oysters and I've never liked oysters but these were amazing! The bacon and breadcrumbs that had a slight lemon flavor went so well with the oysters. Next was lamb loin with stewed white beans and carrots. The lamb was medium rare, I could have skipped the beans but that's me. Dessert was a strawberry Terrine which was full of fresh and authentic strawberry flavor. I would come back and try their normal menu and also do a tasting again as it was delicious and reasonably priced.

I love that this restaurant was only a 7-minute walk from our Airbnb on Grand Street, and it's located inside a cute park! The menu is very sandwich-focused, though they also have coffee, pastries, breakfast platters, and wraps. I ordered the egg white and turkey sandwich + a plain ham and egg sandwich to-go for my flight. Both tasted great! The sandwiches themselves are very filling and don't skimp out on any ingredients. My boyfriend ordered The Hoboken Girl, which seems like Terrace by Alessio's signature breakfast sandwich. He said his sando was also very good, and it lasted him all the way until dinner (it was THAT filling!) Too bad we didn't have much time after breakfast here to enjoy the park a little more. In the future, I would happily come back again.

He really took care of us. He goes above and beyond and gives great effort. We got the French onion soup to start. Super good. Lovely cheese baked over all the top of the bowl. The flavor is crazy. The broth is amazing. I loved every bite of that. Then we got the pastilla and tajine d'agneau. The pastilla is delectable. A must. It's some of the wildest flavor combinations I've ever experienced. You're eating shredded chicken mixed with cinnamon and white powdered sugar. All within phyllo dough. The tajine is fun to try, but it was just OK. It's kind of like a lamb stew. I will give kudos to a very soft and not too chewy Lamb. The prunes and apricots are such a unique flavor duo with these. Couscous is fun. This meal was a 4 for me but everything else, divine. The music was fun. They a live guitarist and sax player serenaded us. Dim lighting. Such a prime location. Lovely to walk through this neighborhood after you're stuffed.
