I have been a customer of CSG for 8 years. Prior to buying my current home, I was a tenant and used the service for 5 years and in my total time have had an overall positive experience. I recently sold my house and did run into a minor issue when it came to cancelling. After a few phone calls and what I thought was going to end with a bad taste in my mouth, I received a phone call from Jimmy genuinely concerned about my issue and we were able to resolve in minutes. Where does one start....well lets kick off with the hungover technician falling asleep in my driveway for an hour and end with an extremely expensive security system that has not been working for months. In the middle is them using a camera on the keypad they installed to watch us in our home to installations that stretched to 2am in the morning. In short. If you work with this company you should have your head examined. They will never do what they promised to do, ever! They will be rude, they will charge you outrageous prices, if anything goes wrong their equipment will never work and pray that you never have to deal with their juvenile manager. I also referred people also. When I tried to cancel they wanted to make deals. Ownership must have changed because customer service is lazy and equipment shady. We've been using this alarm system for 5 years and there's always an issue w the camera or the app. I don't know where they get their equipment from or who is their manufacturer. To me it seems like they buy their equipment from the flea market. The sketchy part about this alarm company is that if you cancel or stop paying for them to monitor your house they won't let you use their app.... I made an appointment with this company and a representative came out. He was very late without calling and when I asked if we could reschedule he got very upset. He then promised to "make it quick." It took him over an hour. Not respecting my time or me in general. He then tried to close me on the sale. I just told him to leave and he screeched his tires when he left. I have a valid contract With Alert 360 for home security and monitoring. I pay extra for extended warranty every month.My system has not worked for a month. They sent the first tech who could not diagnose the problem. Second tech came a week later who determined the system was shot and would not work. It needs to be updated. My system should be covered under extended warranty that I have been paying all these years. They promised to get back with me but did not. As a result, I am without home security. Technicians did their job but the company is not taking responsibility. read more

We were going back and forth on if we should get a Ring doorbell or go through our alarm company and ended up getting one through alert 360. They scammed us into signing up for another 2 years even though I only wanted the doorbell camera (found this out later when we moved). On top of that but the doorbell camera only worked for a month. We had someone come out and "fix" it but it still never worked. We have since moved and didn't take the unworking doorbell camera with us obviously but we still have to pay for 2 years for something we don't have and never worked. They wouldn't even work with us at all. We will be paying $2000 for a doorbell camera that never worked and even though they know it never worked they won't do anything about it. My company have been with Alert 360 for 11 years. They are so unhelpful. The key Phubs to the alarm are not working. I have been trying to get someone out here for 6 months to get them working. They still are not working today. The thechnition was great know what he was doing. It is the company that is the problum. They always putting money before anything. we had alert 360 at our former residence for about three years. the service was okay, so we moved our service to our new address. the system did not work as well here, so we decided to cancel after just under a year. we are now told that (a) our previous account was not transferred and we were entered into a new contract; (b) we owe them for an additional two years, since we were entered into a new three year contract. the sales rep did not tell us this, bc we never would have signed on. deceptive practice. the service does not work as it should, and we own our equipment outright from our previous address. this is a ripoff and from what i've read, this is what Alert360 does. we are starting legal procedings. read more

My family purchased Alert 360's services last year after an altercation. Having the best credit in the family, I was tasked with getting the services with my name and banking information, though my dad would be flipping the bill. Come August of this year, my dad wanted me to switch the billing to his account so payments would be easier for him. I called that week and we arranged that the next payment in September would come from my account, but the next one, a few weeks ago in October, would come out of his. Because of the arrangement, I didn't plan to pay for their service through the original account and didn't leave enough funds to pay the bill. They charged me, despite our arrangement two months prior. I was then penalized a $33 fee because of insufficient funds. I called the next day and told them what had happened. They had the new account on file, but did not use it for billing. I was given a credit for the next billing cycle. As for this one that is supposed to be paid? I was given instructions to wait a few days, because the bank had yet to send back the notice that the funds could not be received. Once Alert 360 gets the notice, they would call me to confirm that they'll bill the new account. I waited, and a week later, they made a second attempt to withdraw the money from my original account. I called, and this time they told me that that's just how it is: if they can't get the funds the first time, they try it a second and I'll have to wait for the notice to come back from the bank. Once again, I was hit with a second $33 fee. I was told again to wait a few days because of the weekend and they'll contact me. Turns out, they secretly charge a third time. I had money in my account because I just got paid, but that money in there was perfectly managed to pay bills. Now they have their money, but bills I processed yesterday, which will withdraw funds today, will not be paid. This will affect my credit, give me another $33 fee, which surpasses the amount of credit they're giving me. I called again. They supposedly blocked my original account (why couldn't they do that the previous 3 times I called?). The past two times I've called they have been rude and offered horrible service. Definitely looking to see if any of this breaches contract so we can get out. read more

I lost $1,555.39 signing a contract with Central Security Group. If you would like a summary of this review please skip down to the last paragraph. This company takes advantage of their customers. I would never sign a contract with them again and sincerely hope this will help others before they are also taken advantage of. First of all, I signed up for the "Alert 360" because I am a single woman and felt the need to have a security system since I live by myself. I wanted to feel safe when I was at home and also know the house would be safe when I was at work. I signed up for the package that included an alarm panel and two motion sensors. It also has an interactive app you can download to turn it off and on via your phone. After using the system for a few months, I realized that even though there is a sensor, someone could get in through my back door, see it on the wall, and avoid it. Secondly, I had to start remodeling the house ($5,000 for mold remediation), and needed to take the key pad off the wall. The central security group charged me $134.05 just to take the key pad off the wall which only took the tech a few minutes to do. Following the remodeling and realizing the security system did not offer me full protection, I called Central Security. I explained the situation and expressed my concern about the contract, asking if I could pay a fee to cancel the service. This is where they took advantage of me. After talking to multiple people on the phone quite a few times over a period of 1 year, no one was able to help me at all. When I asked if there was anything I could possibly do, the woman simply said, "We don't do that here." Instead she quoted me the price for the rest of my contract, which is around $675, and simply said to end the contract I needed to pay the full amount! And, this is after I have already paid for 18 full months which is a little less than $900.00. Even after I explained to her that the key pad is not in use right now and I do not feel safe when it is installed, she said "there is nothing we can do." Basically, they do not care if their customers do not feel safe and do not offer any type of negotiation regardless of how much the customer has already paid. Furthermore, make sure you also read the fine print that states in order to terminate the contract (even before it ends), you are still required to send in a written letter to the company that must arrive at least 30 days prior. Otherwise, the contract will automatically renew for another whole year! They had quoted me for the price of $34.95 per month. With taxes, it comes out to be $37.48 a month. If you calculate that with the price to take the keypad down and the original set up fee for $109.54, the total price comes out to be $1555.39. In closing, I would never recommend this security company to anyone I know. They do not take care of their customers or even seemed concerned that I did not feel safe with the security system. I hope this helps others in making a decision before signing any contracts with them. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Central Security Group(CSC)/Guardian Security Systems since 2009. For the first 3 or 4 years, Central Security Group was diligent in verifying that my system communicated with their control center. However, sometime in 2015, CSC abruptly stopped verifying that my system was online and communicating with their control center, when in fact my system was offline due to a dead battery that they diagnosed but indicated that they could not change. In the meantime, I have been dutifully charged the same monthly monitoring fee for no monitoring service. Due to extraordinary circumstances, I have only now been able to address this situation, and do not plan to remain a customer of Central Security Group/Guardian Security Systems for much longer. Unfortunately, CSC does not appear to appreciate loyal customers :( Update: Jimmy from CSG Houston reached out to me, almost immediately after this posting, and made arrangements to address all of my concerns, as of 2/15/2016. I am happy to revise my rating and express my satisfaction with CSG's response, led by Jimmy. WILL LEAVE YOU UNPROTECTED A phone tech misdiagnosed my issue. After the issue was correctly diagnosed by another phone tech, a repair tech couldn't perform the repairs on their warrantied security system for a week, leaving my business unprotected. They then charge a $25 "trip fee" for repairs on their warrantied equipment. As an option, they offered "ASAP next day repairs" for $150.00. I'll be changing when my contract expires. FOLLOW-UP A rep from the local office (Gary) called this morning. He was concerned with my issue and silently listened as I briefly explained. He then apologized for the incident and stated he would do all possible to resolve the problem. Mid-afternoon a repair tech (Chris) arrived and not only corrected the problem, but informed me of other available panel functions. He throughly tested the system, corrected any and all issues and more, including relocating a sensor for better performance. We all make mistakes. Afterwards, owning, apologizing and making a full attempt correct them is all we can do. This company has done so. I'm now satisfied. read more

I've been extremely pleased with Central Security the past five years. They've had quick response time when my alarm has gone off, and have been easy to work with during the move out process (I've had realtors set my alarm off three separate times). I've never needed them to send the police, but I felt safe knowing that they were helping protect my home both when I was in it and when I was away. My husband already has a security contract, so I couldn't use CSG at our new home, but I've been happy with their service since acquiring it. I only gave 4/5 stars because cancelling my contract has been frustrating. I didn't realize that my contract renewed annually. I'm sure I received notification about this when I originally signed my contact, but it's been years since then. If CSG could improve one aspect of their business, it would be an annual reminder that your contract is being renewed for a year. Even just an email would have been helpful. read more

I am dealing with Central Security Group http://www.centralsecuritygroup.com/ I own my alarm system, and the installer sold the monitoring contract to Central. The monitoring was satisfactory. I paid for the equipment warranties for 5 years. However, when main panel failed the service tech lied about a "power surge" in my home and therefore the equipment replacement was not under warranty. We were home when the panel failed, and there was no problems with the electricity.There was no evidence of a power surge, no thunderstorms, no blown transformers, - nada - and none of our dozens of computers and gadgets had any problems. All of a sudden, the keypads started beeping and after a minute the whole thing turned off. I cannot recommend a company that lies and refuses to honor an obligation. I paid these guys roughly $5000 over the years, and the first time they need to come through for me- nothing. These guys are supposed to protect to protect you from thieves - not participate in the thievery read more

WILL LEAVE YOU UNPROTECTED Had this service since 2013, no service working verification from start date, when called to enquire was told that to fix the service I would have to pay a service call fee, very poor customer service - was told some one would call back the next day, got a call a week later!! this is a company that does 24 hour monitoring, they don't know that my system is not working for over a year till I call and ask me for a fee to come fix it!! ... when I called to cancel was given a polite offer to reduce the rate (which was never elaborated on) or upgrade and pay "slightly more", on top of this when I refused I was shown the 30 day cancellation cost....so taking the last pound of flesh for the last 45 days as well...lost what ever goodwill they could have retained as well... sign up at your own risk. I paid for my mistake and laxity and paid for a service that too not the cheapest...was not working for probably over a year and no call was ever made to inform me that its not functioning till I asked to cancel. read more

For the past 3 weeks I have been trying to transfer my service. I have talked to 4 different people and cannot seem to close this issue of poor customer service. After I came to an agreement my representative was going to send me the revised contract and her contact information. First the contract with docusign is unreadable as the questions are covered by the editable fields. Second I never did receive her contact information so that I could call her for these reasons for the beyond terrible customer service. I called yesterday and was told I would hear back from her the next day. So far it has been just like the other 3 people I talked to and decided not to contact me. I advise an executive contact me if they value this company. 3/28 Update Had the system installed in our new house finally coming to terms but the installer broke one of our blinds and did not notify us. If they at least told us we would not be upset but the installer obviously knew and left without saying a word. read more

Just moved to Houston and was deciding who to use for a home security system. I have used Central Security in the past and decided to speak to sales rep. Albert F... I also spoke with Jimmy A. From the CEO's office about a past problem. Jimmy was not only professional, but extremely helpful with my concerns. I felt like I was speaking with someone who truly care about my concerns and we resolved my issue in a timely matter. In fact I was so impressed with him that I decided to have a face to face with a sales rep who was Albert. After speaking with Albert at my home, I decided to retain Central Security as my security company.Albert was very thoughtful and answered all of my questions. Plus their new interactive system is excellent. I even paid for a years monitoring up front. Their prices are very fair as well.. With all the competition out there, it pays to treat people like human beings and Central lived up to that. Highly recommend them. read more

I have had the fortunate opportunity to speak with Jimmy and have worked out a solution to the problems I have encountered with CSG. He has been very helpful and proactive with solutions/ideas in regards to problems I had with CSG. I'm sure if he was involved from the outset, there wouldn't be any issues to begin with. CSG replaced old/outdated/non operative equipment. The issues I had previously have been addressed to my satisfaction. Unfortunately I've encountered a new equipment issue, but I'm sure it'll get handled properly. I have had Alert 360 aka Central Security Group for 3 years. I was on a month to month contract. Paid for December and told them I no longer need their services as the business was closing. They said ok, no problem and instead of cancelling attempted to "auto-renew" me. I received a bill for $42 for their services in addition to a $10 late fee. I called to explain that I had cancelled and they told me I still needed to pay for January's service even though they did not render any services for the month of January. A JOKE! read more

When we bought our home three years ago on the 15th of Nov. and we wanted to have a monitored security system. We signed a contract with CSG on the 19th of Nov.  I knew the contract was for three years (I dislike contracts).  I called three times before 09/19/2016, to get an understanding of what I needed to do to cancel the contract and service. Each time I thought I had an understanding until I called today. I was told by the supervisor that I needed to contact them 30 days before the contract ended and that I owed a final payment of $48.66. My service was turned off on 11/21/2016 and a payment of $48.66 came out of my account at the same time. This conversation ended with me paying for an extra month (My thoughts since the service is terminated and $48.066 out of my account) and my system not monitored the rest of the month. Therefore, I do not recommend going into  a contract with CSG. There are other security services companies that are not contract driven and less expensive for the same type of monitoring. read more

horrible customer service! got broken into and the motions didn't pick up motion at all. They were in here for 15 mins before alarm sounding. Lost thousands of dollars and they have a clause in the agreement that they will cover up to 1400 or 12 months of service for faulty equipment and over a month later i'm going round and round with them. We had this company when we bought our house in 2009. In 2014, we changed our account to link to our cell phone. Shortly after we faced a job loss and ultimately had to sell our home. Despite many attempts to negotiate with this company, they have continued to charge us $37 per month even though we have not had their service and are unable to have their service. We have been charged over $700 for no service and were told we would still be charged until next year. Terrible read more

They are ok but my security video consultant was a fraud he told me if i had a situation call him. Called numerous times and he never answered, the cables ran for the cameras were done at a subpar level, left holes in my wall and didn't even have wall covers to cover where the wires come from. Also if you are a technician how do you not have proper tools to get a screw out a door. Or was it just laziness,because I WENT TO LOWES and spent $5.00 and removed the screw. Update: Within 30 mins of posting my review, Jimmy with CSG reached out to me to hear my concerns. He was very cordial and considerate of my situation and resolved it with a quick 5 min phone call. To be completely honest, I was pretty surprised and although it took posting reviews on a few sites to get a response (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) I am very pleased with the way Jimmy handled it! He explained the situation thoroughly and that it does take time to recoup costs from equipment, installation, etc. I've added another 3 stars for Jimmy's handling of the situation. Old Review: My wife and I just moved and needed to cancel our security service with CSG. When I called, they told me that I had to send an email formally stating that I wanted to end my service. They also said that my contract was set to expire the next month and asked if I'd like to renew. I said no, yet they continued to push. Needless to say, I eventually got the point across that I was not interested in renewing. So I sent the email and was surprised a month later when I received another bill. I called back again and they informed me that my contract hadn't expired and therefore I would be charged for an extra month because they require 30 days written notice prior to canceling your account. They then proceeded to make it very clear that I had signed a contract that said they needed 30 days notice. I'm really not sure what the notice is for, it's not like they are an apartment complex that needs it to fill a vacancy. Regardless, I went on to ask how they expect people to remember these small details +2 yrs after signing the contract. The lady wasn't budging so I asked for a manager. I went on to explain the whole story to the manager and she acted as if they were actually doing me a favor. She said that they were losing money and that they could actually get more from me because I was contractually obligated to do so for the remainder of the contract. Wow! Two years of paying my bills on time and they are losing money? At this point I'm boiling and she went on to say that she bet I received fantastic service since the time I had signed up. Haha, how ironic that I'm sitting here receiving terrible customer service as she tells me how great she assumes it has been over the last couple years. I corrected her and said that actually I didn't receive any service from them at all. They just collected a monthly check and once again they want another one for doing absolutely nothing. In the end she just said "sorry, we can't do anything for you". How's that for fantastic customer service. I said that just shows what type of company you are that you're more worried about scamming someone out of an extra $36 than potentially having a repeat customer in the future. Mr. Castillo was very professional, and could tell that he took pride in his job. Mr. Castillo knows how to put his customers first by going above and beyond his call of duty by being an expert in what he does. He took his time and explained everything, and made the best suggestions based on my surroundings. Mr. Castillo is a great asset for CSG, and would give him 10 stars if I could. read more

Central Security monitored my security system for ~2.5 yrs on a 3 yr contract. When I moved across town they claimed they didn't monitor that area of Houston (Cypress), which turned out to be a lie. They also kept billing my CC while not providing the service. After a discussion with Central while attempting to cancel my account, I learned they did service the area of my new home. At this point I had already signed up with another service in my new home. I was paying Central for security monitoring for home they weren't monitoring and a home I no longer owned. I requested the account be canceled and my CC stop being billed which seemed fair considered they were at fault for lying (which they admitted I was given "bad info"), but they refused demanding I continue paying for a service they weren't providing until the full 3 year contract term was complete. I offered to split the difference and pay half the remaining term. They declined. All I could do was refute payment with the CC company. Central was extremely rude, unprofessional and unreasonable. They refused to take any responsibility for their own mistake/lie. Eventually they turned me over to a collections agency and I continued to refuse payment out of principal. Eventually they turned me into credit agencies. Its had some affect on my credit score, but will never pay strictly out of principal. Would recommend to look elsewhere for a security monitoring company. read more
