Randomly found this place after I couldn't get my donuts (sold out). I'm so glad I did, this place is awesome! The Baklava is so tasty, I had the Pistachio. Also tried the Hummus, amazing! Great cafe as well, you can sit and enjoy a pot of tea and they have wifi. Also they have a Go Fund Me page, check out their story and help out, they NEED to stick around for a long time! read more

Excited to try this brand new place after hearing about it from University friends. Thought I'd stop by after me and my friends' usual weekend run to PVDonuts just down the street. Things to try: FATAYER FLATBREADS- wonderfully spiced with a great crunch. Absolutely loved the taste and texture of the Za'atar bread. Also go for the stuffed dates (very rich, but very good), pairs nicely with some strong Turkish coffee. Talk about some nicely made expresso. Had a nice chat with the manager of the place who is extremely friendly and accommodating to first-timers. Will come back for the famous baklava! read more

When I heard this was opened by Refugees from Syria I had to go. My husband is Armenian and his dad is from Syria. I love Armenian and Syrian food!!! I always tell my mother in law every restaurant we go to doesn't even compare to her home cooking. Well- this place did!!! Everything tasted like a home cooked meal and was so good. I loved the pistachio baklava, it is dangerous! I could have eaten a whole box. Our whole meal was fantastic. The only downside is that the place is very small so it could be hard to find a table. We have been twice and haven't had trouble. I highly recommend Aleppo Sweets if you want to try some authentic Syrian food! Don't forget to take some baklava home! read more

the staff are all so friendly and attentive to your needs, we had a large group of people and the food was ready in no time and it was so delicious, definitely a go to spot for us! read more

I've been meaning to try Aleppo Sweets since they opened after reading reviews here on Yelp and hearing great things from friends. We finally got to try it! Because of COVID, we had to do takeout. They have their system down -- order through easy-to-use online system, email and text sent when ready, and contactless pickup. And the food was wonderful. My husband I and especially loved the smoky Baba Ganoush and stuffed dates, but the grape leaves and lamb kebabs were also excellent! I can't wait to enjoy sitting in their beautiful space with a steaming cup of Turkish coffee and a baklava when this is all over. read more

Very friendly staff and feels homey. Nice selection, prices are decent but could be slightly better.

This place has great food in huge quantities. The decor is really great and the owners are friendly. I was able to get a table for 6 during brunch with no notice. One of our party is vegan and was able to find plenty that he could eat. read more

Update: I am deducting a star from my original review due to an extremely mean message that I received. It appears that it must be someone that works for this restaurant, a possible family member of the owners? I was told I was a terrible person for my review & that no one in the food industry likes people like me. Unfortunately for them I was just being honest. ( I didn't think my review below was awful?). I like to give fellow yelpers an honest review so I can provide tips and true feedback from my personal experience. My review was in no way meant to hurt their business, yet just give them some tips from my personal experience. Unfortunately, they cannot take constructive criticism. read more

Absolutely delicious food. Honest prices and quick service. Cannot recommend this enough. My favorite was the falafel without a doubt. This is perfect for an early casual dinner. Cannot believe there is not a line out the door to get in here. read more

This place is like a home away from home. I have never felt more welcome in a restaurant than I have here. Their food is amazing and the atmosphere makes it that much better. When I'm here I never want to leave. Every time we have friends in town this is the first place we take them and they always want to come back for more! I'm so thankful they are doing no contact pick up so I can have a little piece of their home in mine! I cannot say enough good things about Aleppo Sweets. read more

Outstanding and what a surprise! I eat a lot of middle eastern food and my standards are pretty high. The food here was outstanding. They do not have a varied menu but the essentials are there and they are all top quality. The sweets are memorable! It is really a sweet shop with full food menu as a sideline. Get the chocolate baklava!!! read more

Aleppo Sweets - Baklava - Syrian Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I waited to come here after hearing all the hype. Having lived I. That area for 5 years, I have a love of the food and the people. The same hospitality I felt there, I experienced at Aleppo Sweets. The smiles, the welcome and the genuine warmth. I felt welcome from the first moment I started with Ayran, yogurt drink. The flavor took me back to a past fiancés home in Pammukkale where his auntie made her own. Pure bliss. The chicken shwarama was divinely spiced, tender chicken wrapped in a fresh warm pide blanket! Absolutely delightful! The baklava and kibbe will be tasted later when I can give all my attention to the special treat... when ibut for now 5***** without a doubt!! read more

Stopped in to get some Baklava on the way home, but if love to come back for dinner. Beautiful decor and a delicious looking menu, definitelya nice little date spot. Grabbed some stuffed grape leaves, baba gannoush and hummus to go. Fresh and delicious. Now let's talk about the show stopper, the Baklava. I don't know if it's because I got it literally fresh out of the oven, hot and doing honey but good god lord almighty was this the best baklava I've ever had in my life. You could've charged me 10 bucks for a square and I'd still be coming back for more. I'm still licking my fingers for just a trace of delicious honey that may still be lingering. This place is the best! The atmosphere is 10/10 and so fun, there's even a little bookshelf with some games and books about Syria. I got the lamb and pepper fatayer which was delicious and my friend got the lentil soup which she loved. We also got Arabic coffees which are served perfectly and were sweet and cardamom scented. The staff was friendly, although a little slow but based on the glimpse of the back area I saw and the taste, this was because they were making everything fresh to order. Oh, and the baklava is great especially if you need a gift they package it up in boxes. read more

We first went to Aleppo Sweets last Friday , the Baklava was delicious!! So we decided to try it again this Friday and it was completely different! The front counter kids are probably not the right people to be helping out customers , either they are running around like chickens with their head cut off , or totally oblivious to the customer that just placed there order for Baklava ( no one else was waiting ) and is just waiting 15 min to get it and leave! They also forgot to add the sauce to the top of the Baklava, may give it one more shot! I hope the success does not go to their head! read more

Summary: Stuck in the Stone Age 1. The good. Food is excellent, especially baklava, which is their specialty. 2. The bad. No plates, no napkins, poor supply of pita bread. You have to beg for basic supplies. It is something like out of a John Steinbeck novel. 3. The ugly. The one bathroom is locked from the inside and cannot be opened. Gimme a break. This is totally lame, and probably in violation of Providence heath regulations. Wait a minute: does Providence have any health regulations? read more

I tried Aleppo sweets twice, once its first week and once after. Both times I've just run in on a whim for some take out dessert to surprise m'lady. The first time we were a bit disappointed, the baklava that contained chocolate had a burnt flavor. I didn't want to write them off as it was still their first week ironing out the bumps. Second time I tried I stayed away from any fancy baklava and mostly just got basic run of the mill styles, these were much better. I'm averaging out the experience to a 3-star, I'll try it again and maybe they will keep climbing the ranks, I hope so they all seem really nice there. read more

This place is a delight - fantastic food, great sitting and atmosphere, their baklava is delicious and their teas to die for. Service can be a bit slow, but i credit that to the fact that they're always busy and clearly pay a lot of attention to how they prepare their food, so the waiting never bothered me. I'd rather wait an extra 5-10 minutes than have my food prepared poorly. Plus it's a great space to wait in - quiet and low-key, lots of plants, they have games etc. BEST FOODS: everything tbh. try their lamb kabob or fatayer, their chicken skewers are among the best i've had, or if you're vegetarian, the musabaha or cheese fatayer won't disappoint. read more

I've had the pleasure of visiting this fine establishment on 2 occasions now and can attest to the top notch quality of their baklava. The decor is clean, warm and inviting. They have several small bistro style tables, a bar height long table and then at the front some love seats and comfy chairs with small coffee style table to place your good and drinks. The service was professional and very friendly and inviting. They offer several options and on my first visit, Diego and I had a light dinner- falafel wraps- very tasty and followed with baklava sampler. Baklava-Outstanding quality...the dough was perfectly crispy and the pistachio version was my favorite. The sweetness level was spot on...not too sweet. The story behind the owners- A Syrian family's journey from their war torn country is another reason to support this business. On my girst visit, I ended up buying a box to go with a sampler of a dozen baklava. This will be my go to place to bring friends and family visiting us in RI. Check this place out! Salud! read more

This restaurant had been on my list well before it was recently named as one of RI's best restaurants. The overall experience was worth the wait on a few different levels. First of all, my wife and I ordered enough food to feed a small army and we almost finished it all! Just check out the photo haha and also not pictured, but consumed, was Tamarind Date Drink, Iced Blackberry Drink, and Walnut Baklava. I'll start with the lentil soup which was thin in consistency compared to the version I grew up with. However, the lentil soup of my childhood is from a different culture so I can't compare it completely to my grandma's recipe. Needless I finished my bowl although I will not order it again. The other items were very in line with other Middle Eastern dishes I've had before, like the hummus, tabouleh, falafel, and bread. The standouts in our opinion were the lamb/pepper kabobs because they were not dry and infused with delicious spices. The fatayer which is a Syrian street food was very good and a unique menu offering. Lastly, the baklava was the best my wife has ever tasted, and she's been to that part of the world in recent years. The only other food comment I'll make is on the drinks we had. The tamarind drink was very tart and the blackberry drink was very sweet so we alternated between glasses to balance the flavors. Regarding the service, we were there on a Sunday evening and arrived just before the dinner rush. It was a packed house and they were clearly overwhelmed. I had to ask for clean silverware, napkins, and unfortunately, more paper towels in the sole bathroom. Overall, the service was good, the food was delicious, but the story of how this restaurant came to be is truly worth researching. We were very happy to keep this place in business and support a local/international entrepreneur. Shukraan! read more
