My husband and I had a delicious dinner at this inviting rooftop spot. Comfortable spot upstairs with the grill going in the background. Happening but not overwhelming ambiance. The menu is carefully curated--not a ton of dishes but I would have happily ordered any of them. The watermelon salad was amazing, so many flavors creatively blended. Perfect starter. We split the grilled steak, with avocado, grilled onions, fresh tortillas and salsas. Wowie wow wow! Special shout out to the hostess, Carolina, for a warm welcome and for calling us a car after dinner and making sure we got on our way back to our hotel. She truly went above and beyond for us! I got a reservation pretty quickly for the same day through open table! The environment was awesome! We were on the roof top, so expect walking up a bunch of stairs if you want to be on the roof. The rice paella was good- nice crunch in the outside and balanced flavors. The steak had nice flavor, but it was very chewy. The steak knives they provided also were difficult to cut. Overall, it was a good dining experience. I would just pass on the steak next time. read more

If you're in the Roma Norte area, I highly recommend checking out Aleli Rooftop! It's gorgeous and offers such an intimate setting. After ordering our mezcal cocktails, we opted for the flatbread as our starter - I still dream about the soft and flavorful bread to this day! We weren't sure what to expect once we ordered the Socarrat, but we were pleasantly pleased with how well the fish paired with the paella styled rice! Absolutely stunning!! We reserved this dinner to celebrate our anniversary and when we inquired about dessert we were surprised with the infamous burnt cheesecake - how sweet! It was a delicious way to end the meal. My group of friends and I were able to grab reservations last minute for this beautiful restaurant. There was 8 of us and we were able to order multiple appetizers and entrees so we could share and try everything. Cocktails were super fresh and light. Our server started our meal with an array of salsas and a fresh nopales salad. I loved these salsa so much, I used them throughout the meal. The birria flat bread was comfort food at its finest. Definitely had a kick to it. Fish aguachiles with plums was perfection. The rib eye quesadillas were tender and I loved the chared cheese inside. I ordered the steak with chimichuri and my husband ordered the paella with shrimp. Both entrees were cooked perfectly and the overall presentation of every dish was beautiful. We then got burnt cheesecake and cornbread to end the meal. I loved them both but I think if I had to pick, the cornbread was so unique, I'd go back and order that again in a heartbeat. I guess I had higher expectations from this place since it's a Michelin bib gourmand. The service was mostly what needed improvement. It took some time for the waitstaff to come and ask about drinks or anything, and the place was not at all close to capacity. The beet margarita was just ok. The color was beautiful but it really hid the tequila, which if you don't like to taste your liquor, I guess that's ok but not for me. The socarrat camarones was a stand out, I'd have to say. I'm very picky with paella and this one concerned me a little when it came out. Instead of coming in a cast iron pan, it's a rectangle of rice on your plate with the protein on it. I was pleasantly surprised that it had a sufficient crunch (although I wouldn't complain with more) and great flavor. It's also quite filling despite the smaller size. The wait staff never checked to see how everything was going and never even asked me if I wanted another drink, so I didn't bother. I had to make it obvious that I was done and done to have the waiter come and say anything to me. Despite my better judgement I also ordered the "famous" grilled cheesecake. Unfortunately, it was just cheesecake. Yes, it does have a black top (cause it's grilled?) but there was nothing noteworthy about it. The blackberry compote they served with it helped with the flavor, though. If the service was better, I think I could have forgiven some of the misses but because of it, I'd have to recommend to skip this when visiting CDMX read more

This is a very nice restaurant - both the low light part downstairs and the open air rooftop upstairs. There really is NOT a view, the rooftop is encased by walls. It's not a big area either but nonetheless it is cozy space. I ate at the bar and could see the chefs cooking which was nice. I was actually quite full when I arrived at my reservation time since Id had lunch reservations and happy hour drinks beforehand. Nonetheless I wanted to try the food -- I got the passion fruit margarita and the Socarrat because I wanted something with flavors of Mexico. I really liked the ceviche on top of it, the rice but itself was heavy and a bit oily so it was hard to finish being full as I was, but I did like the flavor (not enough to readily seek it out again, though). The marg with spiced rim was very good though, I would definitely go for drinks again! The servers were kind and helpful and one spoke English quite well so he was especially helpful to me. Overall when I go back to Mexico I myself won't be coming here again since there are so many incredible looking other places to try (and places I already LOVE), but if someone asked if this was a good spot, my answer would be yes. read more

The shrimp was super fresh and lightly seasoned to showcase the shrimp flavors. Pork belly and mushroom skewer was good. The baby octopus with potato and sausage was okay. The mushroom pizza was so so. It has too much cheese for my taste. The bbq sauce was overpowering other flavors. The mussels with flatbread was great! Definitely one of the highlights of the evening. On our last day in CDMX we decided to come here for dinner as it was close to our Airbnb. It's a rooftop restaurant with a beautiful hipster vibe with lots of plant's decorated on the walls. We were the only customers here because it was Sunday and the whole staff was very attentive to us. Service was fantastic and the food was out of this world. From the drinks to the fresh seafood I couldn't have asked for anything more. All the dishes we were was delicious and flavorful. Our favorite is the skewers and the paella. Check your receipt! Especially if you're a tourist... Ivan was our server and he had added extra items on our receipt that caused our bill to be an extra 600 pesos ($30 USD). I then started speaking to him in Spanish that there were items I didn't recognize. He didn't want to give me back the receipt until I physically had to take it back so I could explain which items we didn't order. There was also no apology. Four stars for the food though. read more

I'd like to believe we went on an off night. The service was joyless. The food felt fussy to the point of being unappetizing. Dishes came out of the kitchen way too fast. There was no pacing whatsoever. The drinks were tasty but VERY small. We were in and out in about an hour and a quarter. All in all, we were thrilled to put Aleli behind us and get on with our evening. It feels like this place had its moment before being discovered by Americans (guilty!), and now the team is just phoning it in. I'm not sure who came up with this dish of charred rice, this restaurant is one of the worst experience I have had in Mexico city, we got there around 1:15, and there was no one at the restaurant but us. The charred rice with fish are basically all burnt, I don't even know how this can be considered to be a dish, it has a terrible bitter after taste, not only is the rice burnt, the fish also burnt. I had the fruit plate with honey, and split the French toast with a friend. The fruit plate was pretty good, although they are very liberal with the application of honey here. Lots of variety -- mangos, papaya, pineapple, plums, strawberries, figs (my fave), cantaloupe, and watermelon. The French toast was very light, surprisingly, and came topped with lots of fruit and some almond paste. Not bad, but didn't blow me away. After 6 weeks living in the area, this is my favorite breakfast place. Their yogurt, granola and fruit plate is delicious and beautiful! I think there are a half dozen fruits on the plate, all fresh and tasty. The yogurt is actually plain which is a hard thing to find in this city. The juices are fresh and they'll even make to order if you're not crazy about the daily special. The chilaquiles are also great. The biggest bonus is that the staff is super friendly and remembered me when I went back! It doesn't seem to get that busy (sadly) so it's a good place to work. read more

Last time I was here the food was excellent, this time I experienced my worst meal in a long time! Basically inedible. My husband ordered the pork dish and I had the house made hotdog. His dish was awful, all fat and sinew and no meat with awful sauce on top. my hot dog was s joke, the same inedible pork as my husband but on a doughy gluey bun with the same awful sauce on top. Misleading as not a hot dog just the same leftover meat and sauce. Our side of rice was ok. I told the waiter our food was awful, fatty and not good we only ate a few bites. He did not care and of course we paid full price, left hungry and hit the Street market close by! Amazing! This unpretentious locale has some serious comfort food. The names in the menu don´t really say anithing, it´s untill the dish arrives that you know it´s in a league of its own. I wnet there 3 times during my stay in Mexico and every time my eyes rolled backwards in delight! For breakfast do try the "caldo Negro" ot the white pudding (home made white saussage with a fried egg (fried in oxtail´s fond fat, yumm!!!)) the green hummus!!! and the cakes!
