I love plantain! Aleida's has the best plantain in town full stop! We were literally a few few steps from the restaurant where my sorority event was held (Summer Moon Coffee). Aleida's is a hidden treasure in a strip center near Summer Moon Coffee. The interior is lush with greenery and large wall length colorful mural. Today I noticed two walls of photos and paintings highlighting the Latin culture. This is a family owned business and it shows. The food feels like a its made with love. The flavors and presentation are personal. I ordered plantain (of course!), a corn breakfast taco with chicken and some Venezuelan flan. All were exceptional. My server was super personable and Texas friendly. He pleasantly persuaded me to try the Venezuelan flan because it was made by his mom. It does not take much for me to get weak at knees for dessert. Excellent, authentic restaurant...I highly recommend this restaurant.

We came in on a Monday night, relatively early, so we sat right away. The vibe is fun, great, colorful mural on one wall, neat lighting, bright little bar. I got the Aztec Ruby drink, really nice. I got the Arepa Tropical and the shrimp and veggies inside were delicious. They have an eclectic menu in terms of the fact that in addition to tacos y arepas they had a Philly cheesesteak sub that was delicious. My son got their buffalo wings and loved them and raved about their rice. Nothing to complain about.

I never really had Venezuelan food before but their breakfast food was really good. The boss man gave us some extra sauces mid meal to do a tri mix and made it even better. The single breakfast plate was a lot of food. Enough to feed two people and really great for the price. Not a lot of places in Austin do this. I have to travel out a bit for this. I was curious about the shark empanada but was disappointed they didn't have any this day. Perhaps next time will have some. This place opens early enough so it's a good spot to hit before any event in the area.

New spot - same great food! Now they have alcohol too! We love the new location. The addition of a bar, patio and upgraded seating inside make it a much better dine-in experience.

Second time visiting but it wasn't as good. I got the Aleida's sampler, which includes mini arepas and other fried stuff. Although I shared it with my bf, it was difficult to finish because I think everything tasted the same. The interior is still as pretty as ever! Maybe I will stick with getting the big arepas next time but this visit was definitely 3 stars.

We stopped by Aleida's for a quick bite on a Sunday evening. The meal was good, but IMHO the place is not worthy of the almost 5-star rating posted online. The restaurant is a small "hole in the wall" storefront in a strip mall. Not necessarily a bad thing! But smaller than one would think. They are moving to another spot in the small mall, which we drove by on the way out. Larger space, area for a full bar, the licenses for which have been applied for based on the poster in the window of the restaurant. The only drinks/cocktails available this evening was one beer. Many of the items on the menu were "out of stock"... the restaurant's signature red sauce, all the desserts except tres leches cake, cachpas (didn't have those), etc., all not available. However, what we were able to order was good! We started with an order of chips and queso... chips warm, nice and crisp, the queso OK but unremarkable, some melted cheese and very small bits of peppers, red, green and orange (guessing red and green jalapenos and scotch bonnets). The tortilla soup was a standout... nice broth, ton of shredded chicken, seasoned a bit heavy, but tasty! We also had the jalapeno chicken arepas and a chicken burrito. Both were very good; the burrito was probably our favorite of the two entrees. Forgot a pic of the burrito... sorry about that! LOL Tips for management ... it wasn't busy. In fact, no customers there when we walked in. The staff laughing and joking in the back... a table full of old dishes and trash was closest to the order/register, food from the days diners was obvious all over the floor, the bottles of salsa bought to our table were not clean. If the staff has time (obviously it did) the place should be spotless.

We've been to Aleidas four times now. Fortunately it's very close by in our neighborhood. The space itself is bright, colorful, clean and relaxed. The owner and the other staff are friendly and share their knowledge about the food. The food is great, including the wonderful choice of flavorful sauces. We are big fans of Aleidas frozen margaritas! Ample, free parking is a plus.

Come here a couple of times and always had great experiences! Each time I've come at lunch and been served right away. The employees have been consistently friendly and efficient in their service I've never had a bad meal here, but their cachapa panellon is the dish I find myself going to most often. There's only a handful of places in the Austin area that serve it and I definitely think they do it the best I appreciate the depth of arepa options they have, I'm surprised more places don't have a breakfast arepa option. There's also plenty of non arepa/cachapa options that are also high quality, so I've had this place in my regular rotation for a while and never gotten bored Overall I can't recommend strongly enough if you live in the Austin area or are visiting from a place where Venezuelan food isn't available

This is a little hidden gem tucked away in a shopping plaza, so glad we found it! The owners/workers had a lot of pride in their restaurant and you could really tell. Everything was very clean and they made sure to check in on us and give recommendations along the way. We ordered at the counter, grabbed our drinks, and chose our own table. I love a good quick spot for lunch like this. I had a shredded beef and guacamole arepa and it was delicious! It was packed full of so much good stuff, I couldn't quite finish all of it which was sad, I especially loved the plantains that came on top! They had a white sauce and a spicier green sauce, both of which were delicious, but not very spicy, just lots of flavor. My husband had a chicken arepa and it was also really good, the meat was very high quality and no gross chewy bits to be found. So glad we were able to have a great lunch at this sweet local spot.

I can't believe I haven't been here before. It was very busy at lunch but the wait for food wasn't long. I love this place. The menu is fabulous. Breakfast all day. Kids meals. Looks like they are getting a liquor license soon. The owner explained the menu to me in detail. They have great pies too. I'll be back next week!

I do remember the warm sweet plantains. I have become addicted to them. Also had the shredded chicken empanadas and oh, so, good. The other ladies ordered a wrap and an arepita which I didn't try because they ate theirs so fast.

I came back and waited about a minutes before I was acknowledged, I was sat and the waitress was attentive. I wanted to try the arepita appetizer which is normally served with shredded beef/pork or chicken on the side- to get a side of plantains instead of meat, it was going to add 3$ to the 14$ appetizer so I just opted to omit the meat all together and still had to pay the $14 ...which I don't feel is appropriate- people always wanna add money to sub a veggie for meat but never reduce the price when just removing the meat all together. Anyways, Ordered my food which was out promptly, the veggie bowl was delicious as always and the arepita appetizer (no meat) was good- reminded me of a fried potatoe cake, I used the arepitas as a vessel for my veggie bowl ! I brought the remainder of my bowl home where I bit into something very hard , once pulling it out of my mouth I discovered some beef snuck it's way into my dish- disappointing forsure but it is the first time out of about 10 times this has happened here. Prices have gone up over the last few years my veggie bowl was 18$.
