Stopped in here looking for a meal and beer, but settled for just really, really good beer, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and welcome dim lighting (we'd been driving in the sun for hours). Found my near-favorite beer on this Northern Cal/Southern Oregon trip (the Anderson Valley Solstice Summer Ale). Like my previous review states I love the ale house. Great beers and ever changing taps. I went to ale house this Saturday and was so incredibly frustrated at the lack of cleanliness and neglect that the building is taking over time. It would make sense to add a tarp on the nice overhang they built so you wouldn't have to sit in the rain. Little things can make a huge difference. read more

I am a huge fan of this place! If you're a beer enthusiast, this is the place to go in Redding. The owner is not only an all around awesome person, he really knows his beer and that reflects on the selection of rotating beers on tap. The amazing beer selection alone is enough to give this place 5 stars. However, there are many other points which add up to making The Alehouse my favorite place in town to grab a drink. Staff really knew their stuff and the place has a huge selection of beers. They don't allow tastes before buying your beer, at least that's what the barmaid told us. We stayed for a couple beers (the staff recommended pretty good ones based on our preferences) but the place was surprisingly empty on a Saturday night. Does it pick up after 9? My friend and I came to Redding for vacation so we found this place on Yelp and were surprised by how vacant it was on a weekend night. It was dead town around 9-10. read more

Never tried anything new but bartender was really nice and recommended a couple beers they have on tap. First one was great second one not so good but she did warn me the first one was the best. Will defiantly be back when I come back to town. There are 3 bars within a block and this bar is the best and you can tell just by the crowd. Finding good beers on tap in Redding can prove difficult. The alehouse is located conveniently and has a REALLY superb draft selection. I had double dead guy, deschutes hop henge, and stone ipa. the place is pretty dark and I didn't see much of anything for food which why we left. the atmosphere isnt much to brag about but the beers make it not matter! oh there's also 2 dart boards and 2 tvs. read more

Alehouse is a really great bar with a wonderful beer selection. In Redding just for one night and need a place to grab a beer. Thankfully I came across the Alehouse on yelp. With 20 excellent beers on tap it was tough to make choice. They even had Stone 07 barley wine. Staff was super nice and friendly. As a fan of great beer and someone who regularly travels up to Redding to visit family, I have been looking for a place that serves any craft ales on tap. I actually found out about Alehouse from the beer manager at Liquor Barn, believe it or not. Naturally, I had to check it out for myself later that afternoon. Alehouse has a quiet and classy feel to it and reminds me of a true pub. In addition to counter seating there are some tables and chairs, and a few tv's if you want to sit back and watch a game. In addition to a great tap selection you can also purchase bottles (different selection than what's on tap). As their shirts say, there is "No Crap on Tap". Overall great atmosphere, a friendly and knowledgeable bartender, and a great craft ale selection makes this place a favorite for me. read more

My friends and I have been drinking quality beers at The Alehouse Pub for a few years now. I finally joined The VIP Club and have my own glass now... Redding's best selection of quality beers on tap and in the bottle. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Nice atmosphere. Clean! A place that my friends and I have always felt comfortable. The Beers! We have had some of the best beers in the world at this pub. Seriously. We love Stouts, Porters, Barley Wines, and strong Ales. Rob is always pulling out some incredible keg that he has been aging in his walk-in. If you enjoy great beer, you should visit this pub. read more

Worst place to go if you like beer. You cannot try any of beer beforehand; the bartender says it is against California law you that its against the law to sample any of the beer before you buy it. But yet the bartender was giving her friends samples of the beers. Then the keg blew so she gave them the full beer for free. To top it off the beers were flat and warm! They might want to change the slogan "no crap on tap" since the name is not very fitting. Awful beer and awful bartender!! Never again will I waste my time or money. I dropped by here the other night and was pleasantly surprised to find Lil Sumthin Sumthin on tap... hoppy, delicious beer that while now a year round Lagunitas beer, is still a summer beer in my head. They also had Lil Sumthin wild, which I had a sample of, and a nice board of pretty good beers. I do find it kinda annoying they dont offer samples of beers, which they claim is due to ABC, but I have never heard that before from a number of bars I have gone to. Kinda odd if true. read more

The barley wine festival is the best beer festival I have ever been too. The quality of beers, people, and the hours of the the festival make it a must for any beer geek. Best beer bar in town. 20 taps of mostly uncommon microbrews with a chill atmosphere. the specialty bottled-beers cooler is expanding rapidly. The back patio has been completely redone and will allow for outdoor music when the weather warms up. I would say this place is a "must visit" if you like beer and you want to try something you may not be able to try anywhere else in town. read more
