First impression on a Sunday afternoon: very busy, but laid back atmosphere. Nicely decorated so it looks like a fun place for a lunch date / work lunch. (4.5/10)
The food: I ordered the Birria and Carnitas tacos. I chose Birria over Asada because it's stewed and I figured it'd have a richer flavor and I turned out to be right (as usual). It went perfectly with the red sauce and other fresh but standard ingredients. Overall, 5/5!
The carnitas is typically a "safe" choice for me, but maybe because I had it after the Birria, it turned out to be underwhelming. Nothing more specific than that unfortunately since I was pretty engrossed in a conversation at that point, 3.5/5.
I would come back to Alebrijes and try more items on the menu for sure, as it has that hidden gem / local favorite potential going for it! read more
