Our "special" pizza was supposed to have equal amounts of each of multiple toppings. But 90% of the toppings were horrible raw onions and most of the other 10% were bitter tasting green peppers! We counted one tiny piece of sausage on every slice plus 1.2 pieces of burnt pepperoni. The cheese was flavorless and undercooked, the sauce made of canned tomatoes and a huge amount of salt. The crust was decent tasting if very dry and tooth-cracking hard. VERDICT: A total letdown. The steak sandwich had cheap meat that needed to be chopped into thousands of pieces in order to be made edible due to the huge amount of gristle present. And our scale showed four ounces of steak, not the advertised eight. VERDICT: A grossly overpriced quarter pounder. Literally. The sausage grinder had two body hairs as a "condiment". VERDICT: Too disgusting to eat. The fries were dry, hard, overcooked, and disappointing. VERDICT: We put them in the bird feeder. But even the birds and squirrels did not like them, so we had to throw them into the trash can. CLEANLINESS: Nonexistent. Devoid of gloves and hand washing. The workers handle money and wipe their noses/brows with their bare hands, and then handle food! Plus, they converse loudly while handling and preparing food, which causes their spittle to get into it. PRICES: Unbelievably high especially for the aforementioned onion pizza that was advertised as a multi-topping pizza. SERVICE: The longest wait that we have ever experienced at any pizzeria. The employees were polite but that hardly makes up for the terrible food. RESTAURANT: Old, dirty, dated decor, worn out. LOCATION: Dangerous to exit and enter. But the overall neighborhood is still nice despite slowly decaying as lower class people continue to move in. PARKING: Plenty of it. OVERALL VERDICT: Aldo's Pizzarama is a shell of its former decent self. The new owners have destroyed it and the food.

As a west coast gal, I've always had the belief that east coasters were being overdramatic about New York-style pizza tasting so much better. I mean, how different can pizza really be, amirite? .. I was not right. I was legitimately upset when I took a bite of this pizza and thought "you're kidding" because it was actually delicious and better than west coast pizza. And I was doubly upset because I then understood why everyone kept saying "it's hard to describe" when I asked them to explain why east coast pizza was better. It's just.. something about the crust being airy but crunchy at the same time, chewy but not too chewy, and flavorful yet not too flavorful that it overwhelms the toppings. I don't know, it was just so good! I liked the regular slices as well as well as the Sicilian, but I think I preferred the thinner crust slightly more. I didn't find the toppings to be particularly amazing, but the crust texture paired with melty cheese made me keep on wanting to eat bite after bite. I don't even know what else to say for this review except that I'm so upset I hadn't tried east coast pizza, or more specifically NY-style pizza, sooner because I was being flippant about it. How many years have I missed out on eating it and when do I get to go back with this pandemic?! Anyway, don't make the mistake I did. Eat the pizza.

Aldo's Pizzarama on Bustleton Avenue in far Northeast Philadelphia has been at the same location for a couple of generations, and has the reputation for making the best pie in this part of the city. Perhaps, it has changed hands since those opinions were expressed, but it was not our experience when we stopped in for dinner over the weekend. The guys behind the counter, although not busy, seemed unwilling to crack a smile or offer any service beyond taking our order and shouting out when the pizza or steak sandwich was ready, for us to pick up and deliver to ourselves. No silverware, no napkins, no courtesy offered. My son liked the steak, but said it was not worth the drive to have it. The pizza looked great with crisped sausage slices and well done crust. The problem was the overuse of cheese out of proportion to the sauce. It was such a heavy layer that the undercarriage could not support the topside. Lifted from the outer edge left the center of the slice on the aluminum pan with its contents sliding off. The work involved in folding the slices allowed us to taste how salty the cheese and red sauce were. Just not a good pizza, despite the decent crust. Won't be back.

I dont know what happen to this place but I wont be back. I ordered a grilled chicken ceaser salad and the chicken was hard I told the guy at the counter his response was REALLY I said yea he walks away with the salad comes back with it in his hand - he put a lid on top of it then he bags it up for me to take home. I am pissed I just said the chicken was hard and you dont offer to remake it fresh or make something else. I spent over 40.00 here tonight I wont be back. I advise dont go here because if your food is made wrong they dont offer to fix the problem. I went up to another guy and told him and he said did you tell the other guy I was like yea he didnt do anything he bagged it up for me. Then he walked over and asked him he said yea she complained and that was it I ended up throwing the bag on the counter at him. Never again

This is one of the first places that come to mind when I'm going back to Philly. Mind you, the pizza isn't the best though it's good. Given my choices around Philly, I'll go to Adriatic Pizza in the Falls Township/Levittown area of Bucks County. Aldo's always reminds of the place you go after your first successful win at a music or dance recital or when your hockey team wins its first game. It's got the kind of personality to make you want to return time and again. I was driving from Christiana, Delaware trying to think where in Philly I'd like to eat. China Town didn't really feel accessible at the hour and other choices didn't feel right, either, so I headed toward Cottman Avenue and thunderstorms arrived. I couldn't see a thing and passed Bustleton and turned onto Castor. Eventually, my car beeped at me, telling me that I was almost out of fuel, but I was more out of fuel than the car was. I found the place, got a slice with sausage and a slice with pepperoni and a medium iced tea. $6.53 seemed a bit steep but it's been years. It was a few minutes in the oven and two slices, iced tea, and two napkins and I was set. The pepperoni was as greasy as ever, which is why I grabbed the second napkin. The taste was good, though, with one exception: they need to sweep the oven properly. They always have little bits of burnt pizza lingering in the oven and it ends up on the bottom of your pizza as dust. If they didn't get a new scraper and brush since I left Philly in 1996, there is something wrong with them. The slices were still good and they're the best inside the city limits.

Pizza was spot on. 10 minimum on cards is their policy. Hence the 4 stars, prices were a little high as well

Shocked they don't have five stars. If I could give it 10 I would. I don't know where to start but this is the best pizza in Philadelphia. I've been to a lot of pizza places in my life. Highly suggest eating in/ dining in the for maximum quality. Unfortunately they are only doing takeout

Tacky 1970. And I love it. Best pizza anywhere. Period.

Easily the top 3 pizza places in existence. Was the best 25 years ago and is still holding on. I have eaten pizza in Manhattan, Chicago and the Jersey Shore. Nothing here has changed including the decor. Nor should it.

While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room--rare in New York. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

We ordered two of the famous spicy caesar salads (must order!!), a ricotta toast, a White Claw pizza, and a finished off our meal sharing two chocolate budinos. The White Claw is a pretty classic white pizza, mozzarella and swirls of basil pesto; the crust is amazing! It pairs perfectly with the salad. The ricotta toast is decadent and addicting, but a little bit goes a long way. The chocolate budino was outstanding - sweet, with hints of espresso. We won't talk about how I ended up with some of it on my white turtleneck... Service was friendly and QUICK! We ordered, and I swear we had our first dishes in less than 10 minutes. The polite smile that says "it's fine" while the eyes say "it is absolutely not." Totally understandable. No one loves a near-close order. I even acknowledged it out loud--apologized, explained we weren't from the area, and that we were just trying to grab a quick bite because it was one of the few places still open. She said it was okay. Her face said otherwise. Fair enough. Here's where it turned around. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and legitimately impressive. Not "good for late night" good--just plain good. Every bite was fresh, the ingredients tasted clean, and the pizza clearly hadn't been rushed or phoned in despite the timing. Hunger probably helped, but even factoring that out, this was a standout. Honestly, I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one to go before leaving the city. That's how good it was. We did try to get drinks, but were told the soda machine was down. The nozzles were off, so I'm guessing it was a cleaning/end-of-night thing. I won't ding them for it--though let's be real, tossing nozzles in sanitizer isn't exactly a marathon. Still, not a deal-breaker. Restaurant was clean, but of course, they were near closing. I tipped her a few bucks for staying late, and left genuinely satisfied.
