Deli style lines for ice cream
    Kerri L.

OMG... the spinach croissants are simply out of this world! I LOVE that they deliver to boats in New Harbor as well... talk about outstanding service! This large bakery also offers a wide ice cream selection, gigantic cookies, and many other desserts. The interior has a busy vibe to it, and the walls are covered with authentic pictures of their business through the years.

Had an awesome glazed donut. Reasonable prices. If you use a credit card they force a minimum of a 15% tip. But a great option on the island for some quality bakery goods and reasonable prices.

Truly the best tasting and looking wedding cake EVER! Couldn't have asked for a nicer and easier experience.

Best wedding cake ever!! love them! they made the process so quick, easy, nice and I personally think it came out so beautiful!

Aldo's Bakery & Ice Cream Café is an artisanal bakery and creamery that opened in New Shoreham, Rhode Island in 1970. It was founded by husband and wife Aldo and Maria Leone. The couple immigrated from Italy to Providence, Rhode Island in 1955. Aldo began working in a bakery in East Providence and learned the craft of baking from an experienced Italian baker. In 1957, Aldo and Maria spent their first summer on Block Island. Aldo was invited to be the head baker at the Spring House and Narragansett Inn. In 1970, the couple would open their own business in a converted old firehouse. They became well-known for their freshly made breads, muffins, cakes, pastries and gourmet coffee. The business was later passed onto their sons Aldo Jr. and Bobby. In 1983, the sons added homemade ice cream and gelato to the menu (inspired by the gelato that the Leone Family grew up eating in Italy). They now produce 32 flavors of ice cream, 24 flavors of gelato, and 6 soft serve and frozen yogurt flavors. My first visit to Aldo's was last weekend. My wife and I were visiting Block Island to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. This was actually the last weekend on Block Island before most of the restaurants and shops closed down for the season. We stopped by for dessert after dinner on our last night on the island. We were on the hunt for good Block Island ice cream. After looking over the selection, my wife ordered a cup of Cookie Dough mixed with Mint Oreo and I ordered a cup of 'Coffee & Donuts' mixed with Mint Oreo. This was some seriously good ice cream! It was the perfect way to end the day. We'll definitely be back on future trips to Block Island.

Cute place . Very busy, even on a Thursday. It's August and waves of people keep coming and leaving, with lines out the door. This time we only got some gelato and lemonade. We went with blood orange and biscotti for the gelato flavors. Both great choices. However the service was chaotic unfortunately. Signs pointing to the gelato and ice cream don't mean anything, apparently you are supposed to stay in one line, but not the one for the bathroom and not the one for the baked goods. We were sitting there waiting for someone to acknowledge me, after the family in front of us got helped. Nothing, just 3 people going back and forth behind the counter! Only one started to serve people from this brand new big group that walked in at once. After us. At least be nice and apologize by pointing me in the right direction. No. Ignoring it's easier I guess. I finally had to get someone's attention for a small cup of gelato. I would strongly suggest to use the bathroom somewhere else because they only have one unisex stall and again, the line was very long . The service for the lemonade stand in the front was very nice however the flavor was gone after a few sips.

Acai bowl with strawberry, banana, coconut with honey drizzle. The blueberries and granola were not available.

Acai bowl advertsed did not have all the ingredients, but the price is the same. I was told in advance, so it was fine. It just did not give the full experience as both the granola and blueberries were not available. They take credit cards, and it looks like they have lots of yummy bakery items alomg with ice cream and gelato.

Absolutely delicious ice cream that they have here. I walked in not knowing what to expect but went with the Boston cream pie ice cream and that was one of then best decisions I could make. It was beyond amazing. I haven't had that flavor before and it was so unique I wanted to try it and I'm so glad I did.

This bakery/ice cream shop is one block off the main drag and is worth the very short walk from the ferry to check out the wide selection of ice cream and baked goods! The Del's frozen lemonade lives up to its fame. It's a perfect balance is sweet and tart with bits of lemon throughout. There's plenty of seating inside the restaurant and the outside has a very cute outdoor dining patio. They're constantly making fresh baked goods and you can smell the delicious scents from blocks away I was too full from lunch so I only had a lemonade and a small ice cream. Next time I'm on Block Island, I'll save room for some bakery items!

Mehhh on the pastries and coffee. Seemed to be a tourist trap kinda place with the location. Was super excited to try some coffee and sweets. Looking into the glass shelves, everything looked amazing, but turned out the reality wasn't close to the look T-T We got a cappuccino, Tiramisu, and Napoleon. Nothing impressed us and we couldn't finish anything and decided to toss the rest. The Tiramisu seemed stale and not fresh. The mousse wasn't smooth and kinda sticky. U know the great Tiramisu would melt in your mouth easily, just gliding in. But not this one. The bread in the Napoleon was tough and again stale. Coffee was ok, seemed to be better than the pastries we had that day. Service was quick and the place was quite busy. I was surprised though that this place looked like a great place with a lot of traffics but how come the pastries were just ok and seemed not as fresh as expected. Really wanted to like it. I missed Wholefoods' bakery for a moment.

    Chocolate icecream cake!

I contacted Aldo's Bakery to make an icecream cake for my boyfriend's 28th birthday. They were closed because it was the off season but they made an exception because I called in advance- the owner was very sweet and made an INCREDIBLE CAKE!!! The frosting was to die for and this was no traditional icecream cake, it was literally chocolate cake with Reese's icecream in the middle and it was incredible. 10/10 would recommend!!!!!! We are so glad we have leftovers so we could bring this home to share with friends and family. Thank you!!!

Everything we ordered was good but not so great that we'd wait in a longer line: + Cheese & Guava Danish ($4.50): Good but a little dry and not as fresh as I'd expect for first thing in the morning. + Ham and Cheese Croissant: This was the least memorable. + Ham Quiche ($9.50): This was the best thing we ordered--super delicate crust, fluffy eggs, good flavor. Would get this again! We also got a few macarons and they were good and at just under $3, a better price than usual.

One of the places that is a top notch coffee shop and bakery, and my favorite, is Sift Bake Shop. Over my last two trips to Westerly, RI, I went there multiple times. First, their coffee is great and food is excellent. They have a wide variety of pastries, plus some sandwiches. They also have macaroons and cakes. I have ordered both their chocolate croissant and raspberry croissant. They are both good, but I would recommend the raspberry croissant. The last time I was in Westerly, RI I tried their chicken salad sandwich. The chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The sandwich came with a small bag of Cape Cod chips included in the price. I have gotten both iced lattes and iced coffee there. They are both good. One note of caution, their flavored lattes can be very sweet. Second, the service is good. The coffee shop is small and often is busy. The staff is friendly and they do a good job of the moving the line without being pushy or rude. Third, the interior is simple, but bright and classic. The shop is well lite. The white counter also brightens up the shop. In sum, this is a must visit coffee shop and bakery when you are Westerly, RI.

The Scoop Shack - Not a bad view

I believe it's relatively new because I've never noticed it before on Block Island and I tend to notice ice cream places. Then again it is sort of tucked away in a corner and could be hard to see. The store is small, with a counter for the scream and various candies and other treats scattered around. A couple of tables inside and a courtyard overlooking the ocean on the outside. Saying that the view is great is actually an understatement. We didn't bother with the candy but the ice cream was absolutely incredible. Smooth and rich and no doubt containing a astronomical amount of calories and fat, just the way great ice cream should be. They don't have vast amount of different types but enough variety to satisfy anybody except those looking for something very unusual. There aren't many things better in life than sitting in a beautiful spot over looking the ocean and devouring great ice cream. Even though it was hoter than hell when we were on the island, a cool breeze was coming off the water and combined with the richness and algidity of the great ice cream the world was a perfect place. At least our little part of the world. Their are lots of ice cream places in the world but The Scoop Shack is one of those special places that I will always seek out when I'm on Block Island. The place to relax and just appreciate the moment and forget everything else. The ice cream here is exceptional but no matter how good the scream is, the views will always be even better.

I tried their blueberry chocolate flavor and was surprised by chomping on hearty pieces of fresh berries and large chocolate chunks. The waffle cones are really pricey, however, and I can't state whether they're worth it or not, since I wasn't willing to shell out $8. Overall, this is a good spot if you (or your kids) are yearning for ice cream on a hot summer day and it won't hurt your wallet as long as you're all willing to share a kiddie sized ice cream =P
