Thank you Wally for your buttery Chardonnay recommendation. Carneros is perfect! Looking forward to another fun visit with my family again.

In the absolutely quaint and beautiful town of Aldie, VA, this shop is the crown jewel of everything lovely this place has to offer. The owner is super friendly and fun. There is a small wine tasting area in the backside where you can sample some of these wines before you buy. Great place with a lot of personality.

The pecan apple butter and raspberry jalapeño jam on toast! Delicious!

What a gem of a find on our drive!!! We stopped by this adorable little place because of a sign that said 100 wines under $10. Here we come!!! This place is owned by Wally. He and everyone who worked in this small shop was so friendly. We ordered several wine bottles that were suggested to us and even got some yummy jams that they suggested.

Cool little store in Aldie, VA. They sell patio tables and chair, wine, jellies, jams, honey, sauces, pickles, peanuts, candies, antique stuff, and a whole lot more. I love wandering through places like Aldie Peddler to see what is going on. I bought a can of their lightly salted peanuts. When I bought them - the guy at the counter told me I'd probably eat them going down the road. My response was that I was not going to do that. But what do you know - I did end up cracking that can open to taste them. Damn were those good! I ate about half the can while driving down the road!

Wally - it was delicious! You need to get more.

The weather was beautiful this past Saturday. Couldn't ask for a nicer day for a top down drive in the country so we decided to head towards Middleburg for the afternoon. On the way there we came across Aldie Peddler. The place couldn't be missed with all the colorful Adirondack chairs surrounding it and a big sign that read Amish furniture & 100's of wines under $10. That little sign grabbed our attention and we had to stop. The shop is an old converted house. We were warmly greeted by Bobbie as soon as we stepped in the door. There is so much to look at and each room houses something different. We entered through what used to be the living room - very charming with its large fireplace. This room housed the ever popular paw print magnets along with some knick knacks and a large wine cabinet. Next we moved into what is now the tasting area. There we bumped into Wally who immediately got us tasting some wines. Wally, the shop's owner, is an interesting man who oozes Southern hospitality. He definitely knows his wines, in fact I would say is passionate about them. We picked up a couple bottles of white from the tasting - perfect summer on the porch wine for $8.99 per bottle. We continued through the house with the next stop being the kitchen. Loads of jams pickles, relishes, some dishes and bowls. This is truly a great little country store. The last room we stopped in was the wine room. The selection here was outstanding. Yes, there are a lot of wines for under $10, but Wally also had a lot of nice wines in this room up to about $55. Wines from CA, Italy and even a wall of VA wines that Wally tasted and enjoyed. I loved the little blue post-its on the shelves declaring several of the different wines "one of Wally's favorites". My husband got to talking to Wally about Italian wines - we are especially fond of Brunello, but didn't see any on display. That's when Wally led us to the wine cabinet we had spotted on our way in. These wines he keeps locked up because someone used to come in and switch the price tags so they could purchase the high end wines for less. Shame on you whoever you are for attempting to take advantage of this local business owner! Wally opened the cabinet and lovingly pulled out some of his favorites, the last being a Lazy Creek pinot noir. He commented on the size of the punt which I learned Saturday is the indentation at the bottom of the bottle. This one was particularly deep and I believe the larger punt means the wine is meant to be stored for a longer period of time. This wine was a 2005 vintage and was meant to age anywhere from 5 to 13 years according to its label. We decided to give it a try since it was in its prime. Wally begrudgingly let us have it - it was his last bottle. We will definitely return to this wonderful store not only because the prices were reasonable and the selection was great, but because the owner (and Bobbie) were genuinely nice people who were passionate about the store and a downright pleasure to be around.

We hosted a bridal shower here in February, and it could not have been easier to work with them. Despite record cold temperatures that day, everything was perfect. The wine, pizza & charcuterie could not have been better, and all of the guests loved the mimosa bar they did for us. The space we used was lovely. The little house on their property was the perfect setting, and the attention we got before and during the event was perfect. Jody was a dream to work with on the planning, and she made sure it went off without a single issue. I couldn't recommend it more. We always enjoy coming out to hear local musicians, (especially our favorite local artist Gary Smallwood), and great beer/wines + their legendary pizza = a great way to spend a day or evening. Also, the staff couldn't be nicer. It must be a great place to work because they're always happy, kind, and helpful. We tried the tater tots last night, and oh my goodness they were probably the best we've ever had. So with all the brewery and winery choices in NoVA, this one tops our list and remains our favorite. For your next outing (or party/shower/event) this IS the place. Trust me. 10/10

If a place executes its vision at a high level and exceeds expectations for its lane, that is a 5 star experience to me. And this meal absolutely did that. We relocated to Northern Virginia a couple of years ago, so we have been exploring the dining scene here with fresh eyes. Since moving, we have visited The Wine Kitchen several times, and each visit has been consistently impressive. They are truly a gem in Leesburg. We went with the pasta tasting menu and it was an outstanding, technique driven progression that really showcased the kitchen's command of fresh pasta and sauce work. The pasta itself was the foundation of the experience, clearly house made, with impeccable texture across every course. Each shape was cooked to a true al dente, with that ideal balance of tenderness and bite that only comes from properly handled fresh dough. Nothing felt heavy or muddled, which is no small feat in a multi course pasta progression. The mushroom tortellini in brodo was beautifully restrained. The broth had deep umami from the mushroom parmesan base, yet remained clean and structured, allowing the delicate tortellini filling and chestnut mushrooms to shine. The truffled Alfredo could have easily gone overboard, but the richness was controlled, silky, properly emulsified, and well seasoned, with the truffle supporting rather than overwhelming the dish. The lobster ravioli was another technically strong plate. The pasta was thin and tender, the filling sweet and delicate, and the crab fat sauce added depth while the ginger Calabrian soffritto brought a subtle lift of heat and brightness that kept the dish from feeling too rich. The short rib rotolo delivered deep, slow cooked savoriness, balanced nicely by the ricotta and the earthy luxury of the truffle fonduta. What really made the dish stand out for me were the crispy edges on the pasta, which added a beautiful textural contrast to the tender filling. For dessert, we enjoyed the tasting menu dessert and also added the cornflake French toast. The French toast completely wowed us. Texturally, it was outstanding, crisp exterior, custardy interior, and that nostalgic cornflake crunch elevated into something refined. It had richness, sweetness, and contrast in all the right ways, and ended up being my favorite of the two desserts. Overall, this is how you do a pasta focused tasting menu with finesse, strong technique, thoughtful balance, and flavors that feel indulgent without becoming heavy. In its category, this was a 5 star experience for me, and I would absolutely come back.

We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. The portion was nice too! * Perfectly cooked steak that was succulent! * And a sea bass in red curry that brought a little bold flavor moment to the table. Four plates, two drinks, zero regrets.
