I just completed the 3-day Detox program...and it was fantastic…read moreThe process was easy, the food was very tasty and Taylor, the nutritionist was patient, available, responsive and hella knowledgeable. She also did check-ins during the 3 day process, to get input on your experience, answer questions, etc. The pick-up was very well managed, the food was prepared, packaged and labeled very carefully, there is minimal chance of making mistakes. Taylor was available for questions at pick up, for those last minute inquiries. Did I mention that all the food was organic, freshly prepared and delicious? Taylor also did a great job with off-boarding from the detox with recommendations for re-introduction of other foods. If you follow her guidance and make the sacrifice, you will experience the maximum benefits of this program. Prior to the detox, I was feeling sluggish, lethargic and having difficulty sleeping - despite the fact that I work out 5-6 times a week. It had been some time since I invested in self care, and gave my body a chance to reset. The detox did the trick, gave me the reset that I needed and I dropped a net of 3lbs ( I say net because it registered as 5lbs, but as you know we eliminate water in this process). Day 1 and 2 my body was doing the work of the detox, on Day 3, I literally popped up and was filled with energy. Bottom line - It worked! Call Noursihed..talk to Taylor, make the decision, do the detox. Your body deserves it, and you'll be supporting amazing women in business - happy bonus!

The store is clean, organized and offers a variety of services, seemingly open to expanding in many healthy directions. They are my only go to for vitamins and supplements. The foot detox is also great and am looking to try other options available as well. Always great conversation and Five-Star customer service. Thanks for being amazing!

The shop is less of a vitamin shop and more of a healthy living spot. The selection appears to extend well beyond supplements. I went here to refill on my daily supplement. The employee directed me towards the particular spot in the store, where only one brand was available. She appeared knowledgeable about the brand and manufacturing process. However, when I inquired further about the manufacturing standards and verifications, she was unable to answer. I only purchase supplements that have been verified for nutritional content, absorption, and safe manufacturing practices. There are two major laboratories that conduct independent testing. I inquired about both of these labs by name to the employee, but she was unaware of any verification labs that existed or that the supplements underwent testing. I am well aware that the FDA has little to no regulatory power over supplements, but independent testing is available for any brand to confirm that their product is genuine. Bottom line, the supplement line carried by Family Health has not been independently tested. I would not recommend purchasing from them. On the other hand, Family Health offers a wide array of health services and seminars for the new age medicine enthusiast. If you are into herbal remedies and non-traditional medicine, Family Health is right for you. If you just need some vitamins or supplements, find someplace else.

Oh, how I love Kankakee Natural Foods! From the delish smoothies, fresh soup and organic offerings…read morefrom local farmers/bakers to the wide selection of foods/vitamins/supplements, beauty products.... Most of all I love it because it's here, and it's a rarity! It's out in an old farming community and even though it's been growing a lot in the past few years it is SO HARD to find any place that has healthy options. One of the best things about Kankakee Natural Foods is that the staff is mostly friendly but always VERY knowledgeable. If you go in there with a question on a product or an issue that you're having they can answer and lead you in the right direction, but there is no high pressure sales...at all. In fact, if you don't go to ask someone a question all you'll get it a "Hi, let me know if you need any help." and I really really appreciate that as well. I recommend Kankakee Natural Foods to everyone because I love it but also because I do not want to see it close!!! All too often you find these local gems but because of the big boxers they go extinct.

A few months ago I moved back to my native town and, like I used to when I lived here before, I…read morestarted to shop at the natural foods store again. I was excited to support a local small business, and even though their prices are a bit higher than other big box stores like Whole Foods who is now owned by amazon, I was willing to budget that in for the sake of keeping my shopping local. Plus when you factor in gas expense to cruise up to Orland, it just made sense. However I'm sad to report that over the last 4 months or so I've had some negative experiences with this store, despite their winning attributes. First, there were 3 separate occasions where I asked about specific items they did not have currently available, and asked if I might place a special order through them as to support their business (instead of going through somewhere like AMAZON, eye roll) Unfortunately, on all 3 occasions they took my contact info and told me they'd be in touch, but only ONCE did they ever actually follow up with me and it was literally months later... so do you think I called them back? NO! They clearly did not want my business. Mind you this was for animal food, an ongoing expense that I'd much rather pay a local merchant for rather than ordering online. Month or so later I have another more significant negative experience with their cloth face masks. These are so cute and it's amazing to be able to purchase one made by a real person local to the region. I was so jazzed. Unfortunately these masks were not labeled by size, had no distinguishing pile or anything, leaving me to logically assume they were one size fits all. Long story short I ended up with 3 out of 5 that I purchased that are kids sized. With no kids I have no use for these. I asked to have an exchange and they said because of the virus they could not accept that. I asked if they could at least credit me the $15 expense since that's how much I was out and the manager said no. Continuing along with what happened, the manager told me she didn't appreciate my "threats" or how I was talking about the business and told me I was being disrespectful. In reality, I never raised my voice, used fowl language, nor distributed a single threat. What I DID say up until that point was that I did not feel like they appreciated or valued my business because of this and the past 3 attempts to order specialty items through them and that if this is the kind of customer service they deliver then I'm going to have no other choice than to take my business elsewhere. And she responded like THAT! How much more disrespectful and non responsive could SHE be? So I found myself being verbally attacked by a member of management for bringing very real, every day customer service concerns to their attention in a respectful way. How dare I?! It's clear this store cannot take constructive criticism nor do they value their customers. I truly do not appreciate the tone I was met with. Moreover, the conversation finally resulted in her saying she'd credit me the $15 but it was only because she was being forced to in order to make me happy and it would be the last $15 I spent with them.... (I'm serious that actually happened.) I NEVER was disrespectful to this woman, I just told it like it was and in a level tone. I don't believe in screaming at customer service representatives... After she said that she quickly back pedaled and said "after that if you choose to continue doing business with us that's up to you" Overall I'm extremely disappointed at the LACK of customer service I've experienced over the last few months at this store, not to mention the judgey, prissy manner some people who work for this business seem to portray to those who might look and talk differently than them. I feel completely undervalued by this business as a whole and I will not even take my $15 credit there. They don't deserve any more money from me. As unfortunate as it is, I'd rather take my money to the box stores at this point... if you know me, that's a pretty intense and out of character statement. I hope for the store's sake that they learn to improve their customer service and build long term loyalty... As I tried explaining to the manager, that's how small businesses survive. With how I've been treated and dismissed on repeated occasions over the last few months, however, I'm not so sure they will... too bad, even though their selection is kind of small and lacking with certain things, they had potential in my book. After this outright disrespect? Not anymore. Never. Again.

This store is very clean and the staff is super helpful - almost to the point of too much. I…read morethink their product layout is organized - the vitamins and supplements are on the right when you walk in. Things like shampoos, deodorants, and essential oils are in the middle of the store and the edible products are on the far left of the store. I love the fact that every item in the store is either organic or in some way much higher quality than anything I can find in most other stores anywhere in the area. Although their vitamins and supplements are better quality than most local stores, I know for a fact that there are even higher quality products available out in the marketplace and I sometimes wonder why the store doesn't carry them - for example - products from sources such as Vitamin Research Products, Douglas Laboratories or Source Naturals. The only reason I haven't given this location is 5 star rating is because: 1.) I feel that the prices are a little high for the products & 2.) Although I appreciate the acknowledgement when I walk in the store, it is irritating to be asked 2 or 3 times by different people if I need help finding something in a 10 minute period of time. I know this sounds trivial and some stores could use help just getting their employees to say a simple word like "hello", it still irritates me. I may re-visit this review and up the score to 5 stars, but so far I'm just not feeling it yet. Keep up the good work ladies - you are on the right track.
