What a unique idea, a grocery store that can't be bothered to stock groceries. Go elsewhere unless you like wasting your time.

This is the best fresh produce on the Southside. You will find a good selection all year round…read more Evelyn and crew drive down to W. Virginia when the winter gets colder to maintain their stock and tomatoes are brought in from Georgia and Florida. I am a firm believer that good food is all about good ingredients and I am constantly underwhelmed by the selection and quality of the produce at my nearby Giant Eagle on whittier street and trendy Kroger's in the Brewery District. This week at Evelyns I got some of the biggest and hardy sweet potatoes for just .79 a pound and equally delicious tomatoes for 1.99 a pound. I also had my eye on the abundant and fresh supply of sweet onions, zuchinni, cabbage, and squash. Again the quality is superior to local grocers and prices are competitive. If you are not familiar with this part of town it can be tricky to find, south on parsons avenue just beyond the old schottensteins. The address is Marion rd but it is not marked, You will see E. Barthman on the west side, and Evelyn's is on the opposite side. Hours are Mon-Saturday 9:00-5:30 from Dec-March and 9:00-5:30 Mon-Sun April-November. I often call ahead to see what they have each week. I am never disappointed!

Most of their produce is signficantly cheaper than what you could get at Kroger or Giant Eagle, and more inpressive in quality. The staff is very nice and eager to help you. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for fresh produce. I live a good ten miles away and I still drive over to Evelyn's regularly. Its worth it!

I'm told that I visited this place as a child for a school field trip but have to admit that todays…read morevisit felt like it was the first time -only this time, we had our two year old toddler in tow. We made the drive over from union city in anticipation of picking apples and purchasing some sweet treats from the bakery. Note that this is not actually a u-pick farm but there are bags of apples available for purchase in the store. The store featured a variety of treats and snacks ranging from local honey and Amish noodles to cider and pumpkin balls. I also noticed that they sell cider slushies. The front porch boasts pumpkins, mums and cornstalks for sale. The neighboring bakery is where you can find apple dumplings, sour cream doughnuts, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin cookies and more. They have a handful of patio seats to enjoy your treats on-sure. I'm not sure if this is a weekly fall fixture or not, but they also had a local coffee truck parked for call drinks to purchase. Lastly, there is a fall play area in the back that requires $12 admission per head for those four years and older. I have to admit this seems a bit steep given that many if the orchards we visit in the Indy area have the play areas as part of the experience vs. paid entrance. We easily dropped $75+ on good/drinks during our brief visit. Overall, a positive and fun fall experience. Just wishing there were some more built-in interactive elements without admission.

I would give this establishment five stars except that the entry price was so high, and they did…read morenot offer any discounts to veterans. There were many activities for children and our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They especially enjoyed the zip line and the corn maze. The food was priced well, but they could use help waiting on people. The donuts were awesome! Don't leave without purchasing some donuts!!
