So we traveled to Brumbaugh Fruit Farm from Kettering, Oh. I had my 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter with me. It took us about 40 or so minutes to get there. I went there on a recommendation from a customer, and I figured with all the activities that were listed on the website, that the 8.00 per person admission would be well worth it. We get there, and there were already a decent amount of cars there. When we walked in there was someone cooking hotdogs, and hamburgers, it smelled really good, but we started walking to the left. They took a ride on the Willie Worm Wagon Express, which was some carts behind a tractor and they pulled the kids around in a few circles. The kids enjoyed it. We went then walked on to Grandpa's Fun Acre, which advertised and Enchanted Goat Fort. We saw 2 baby pigs, and a couple of goats. It was also advertised that you would get to feed, groom, and learn about the goats, there was no one around and the goats were enclosed in the fence. We did not get to feed, or groom, or learn about the goats, and there was no sign to tell us a time, or if anything was going to be happening with the goats. The play area Grandpa's fun acre lists " Take a romp in Haymow Hysteria, or race a tricycle around the Pumkin 500 or just dig in a simple sandbox." Most of the tricycles, were all rusted and broken, and didn't work, so my children gave up and we mozied on to the next area, which was a large ship with a couple yellow slides. Some of the slides including the area by the goat fort look cracked or about to break. We walked on up and did the Kiddie Corn Maze which was fun for the kids because it asked neat questions to help you choose the right direction. We then went to the Kinda Kooky Corn Maze which is a much larger one and it probably took us about 25-30 minutes to find our way out of there, it asked questions about the Presidents. We then walked through and went to the area "Billy Bee's Flight O'Fun" where children could kind of zip line. It definitely needs updates, as my smallest child took a ride on the little one, even though the limit said 100 pounds, her bottom was still dragging the ground. The larger one, it seemed like kids were having one, but it seems like Brumbaugh threw a couple things together to seem like you were getting your monies worth. We then went to the "Enchanted Forest" which my youngest daughter seemed to enjoy, but everything needed updates, there was a cutout of snowhite, Peter Pan characters, and one beauty and the beast cutout, hardly enough for an enchanted forest...and a couple houses along the way, and a "mock" castle of beauty and the beast. Once again I think they need to check the safety of things children are climbing on and such. We walked through the apple orchards. We had homemade donuts in the bakery which were good. We watched how cider was made, which we just saw the equipment running, and not actually watching cider being made. We took a hayride to the pumpkin patch, and then we rode it back to the front. We got a couple of honeycrisp apples, small pumpkins, and some pumpkin pancake mix for 4.95. All in all the trip cost 53.50 for a few hours at the farm. I would say this would be a one time experience, as they need to polish up their "attractions", and if they advertise that they are going to do something, like groom goats and feed them, there should be somebody there. I won't be going back, but I would go back to purchase things in the market, and have some fresh baked goodies. But I wont be taking my children back to this farm. read more
