Cheap affordable groceries. What else is there to say? Saw Cotton Candy Grapes!!!! OMG, immediately grab a pack. Good selections of snacks and decent cheese. Saw some cool marinated pork at a decent price and nabbed it. Those Aldi brand are sometimes better than popular known brands. Those large bags of Clancy's chips are amazing! Quick and easy checkout. Love the shopping cart system. Always fun to shop here altho I feel their produce selection is limited. Wish there was more.... it does have all the basics you need. read more

Good prices better than any other supermarkets. But the variety is always lacking or out of stock . The valley stream is a little better but if you want to catch it full stock come around 9-12. The Aldi at Gateway Mall is the worst. The employees are very rude and disrespectful. There's a female Hispanic employee with a man's haircut who was very unpleasant. I think her name is Teresa; I'm not sure if that's her correct name. I was looking for organic whole milk and I moved a box of Omega 3 milk to the left, where there was an empty space to search on the back for the whole milk. So she approached me very rudely and told me not to move the box cause she knows that people like me don't put the things back again and basically she took me out of the refrigerator. I told her that she'd have to wait for me to finish to search and not anticipate whether or not to put it back. She did this to me cause she thinks that people are weak when they are educated and don't have an aggresive personality like mine. I'm sure she would never do that to any of the tough, aggressive women who come into this store. The employees at this Aldi need to stop treating customers like they're getting free food. read more

"At Aldi, cashiers scan groceries and place them into a shopping cart, rather than a bag. Customers can then bag or box their groceries themselves at the open counter after completing their transaction". That means you take the cart, go to the OPEN COUNTER and bag your grocery, AWAY from the cash register!! Today I went into an argument with a guy that after he took he sweet time to go back to the isle to get something else he was transferring his shopping to his cart right there at the cash register! HE TOLD ME HE CANNOT TAKE THE CART! What kind of excuse is that??? Not only he was taking time, the lady at the cash register didn't tell him to move, the useless "guard" instead of telling him to move to the open counter he keep repeating "is not that serious, he's almost done"! Why we allow stupidity and ignorance to reign all over!!! I wish MANAGEMENT instruct those people better instead of entertaining entitled people to waste people time. read more

I went through the self check out line as per usual and scanned/bagged my items. I selected bananas on the produce list and weighed them then placed them in my a bag. The not so friendly employee (see photo) then came over and said "the bananas are organic" - cool no problem. I am an honest person and spend hundreds of hard working dollars in cash weekly on food as I am a chef. With that said, she was cold and made it seem as if I were trying to scam the system as opposed to being a helpful employee. When I needed to remove items and pressed the help button, she responds did you need to remove something? Duh. Then proceeds to stand at a register from afar asking what needed to be removed? Pardon me but I would be shocked if her training told her to act in such a manner. I responded "since you're watching me so hard, I figure this will give you something to do" - to which she responded "baby I'm watching everybody, that's my job". I informed her that I am a customer and not her baby. That remark was not only disrespectful but degrading. Please retrain this woman as she is a disgrace to the business. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I absolutely LOVE this store! Whoever came up with this amazing idea is a genius and I'm grateful for Aldi's. This supermarket enables me to keep more money in my wallet and my belly satisfied. This store offers lots of food and non-food items at reasonable prices. Let me just say that just because the food is much more affordable than other stores, you still get quality and quantity with your purchases. Where else can you find almond milk for $1.99.....probably no where but at Aldi's. Lactose-free milk costs about $5.00 at other supermarkets but at Aldi's, it is only $2.89. There are food choices to appease all appetites. I look how the appearance and decor is always appealing to the eye. It is very clean and organized in Aldi's. The shelves are well-stocked and if it isn't, there is a store associate re-stocking the shelves with more items. The store associates are helpful and friendly and very accommodating to the customers. I've asked plenty of questions several times and have been met with exceptional service and a smile. Aldi's is the best supermarket to me next to ShopRite. If you are on a budget, shop here. If you aren't on a budget, still shop here. Whatever your situation is, get over to Aldi's and shop, shop, shop. You will not regret it, trust me! They also offer contactless payment options such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. read more

Glad to have moved to a neighborhood with an Aldi. The actors is fairly clean but the only thing I've noticed it's is that many things seem to be out of stock. It might just be due to the government though. Workers here seem pretty nice and lines are quick the only bad thing about waiting in line is that people cut a lot and start their own. read more

This is a great place to pick up essentials but it feels like a rip off Trader Joe's for the middle class. There's NOT a big selection of anything. The location is great and their staff are friendly but you have to get past items being in the most unorganized spaces. Also, I wanted a HUGE selection of salad dressings and there was a tiny section for dressing when at my local supermarket half the aisle is for dressings and condiments. The prices are actually really good and reasonable. It's a bit much to have to bring your own bag or buy one of theirs and they don't have small baskets when you're food shopping - just carts to rent for a quarter. Overall this supermarket gets a thumbs down for appearance, lack of selection and organization but frequently being in the area, it's a benefit to get something quick. read more

Aldi is pretty much always solid and a good value for dollar. We're in town short-term (a couple of months for some volunteer work) and weren't sure what to expect from a NYC Aldi location. We were pleasantly surprised that it the same as any other location we've ever been to. Clean, well-stocked, reasonably priced. The staff in my experience here is hit or miss. Some clerks have been friendly and others not so much. I took off a full star because they do something that irks me. They can't seem to keep their register lines straight. The lines end up down aisles and people jump lines and bounce around. Makes it a longer wait for those of us that expect structure and a store that keep things organized and clearly communicate it. Other than that - it's a great grocery store. read more

What's to say other than it's any and every food lovers dream! They have great selections and even better prices. I'm a big foodie and restauranteur. However, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy getting in the kitchen and making a home cook meal for me and my man. At 25, this seems to be a lost art form for many of my generation. Just kidding. Kinda. Meh. I love that I don't have to spend an arm and a leg here and can still eat deliciously healthy for incredibly cheap prices. Ladies and Gents. Listen. Save your money for something nice and just shop here for groceries. End of story. Overall, highly recommend for grocery shopping. read more

I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon around 2pm and I was horrified at what I saw. The lines were ridiculously long and only 2 cashiers available. I understand they maybe days where multiple employees may call out but this was something I have never experienced. The shelves were in disarray and barely stocked. I normally don't give bad reviews but this location for Aldi is a no for me. I will visit the one in sheepshead instead. read more

Possibility the worst place I've ever shopped at. The cashier was nasty and unprofessional.kept talking to a customer who was about 5 people behind me on the line. It's extremely rude. I don't need to hear about your personal life especially when you have to yell across a few people. Your at work. She's not even paying attention to the customers in front of her. I strongly believe this store needs to train its employees properly so that can understand work etiquette. The vibe itself in the store is a turn off passed multiple employees and seems like no one wants to be spoken to. read more

Aldi's is located in Gateway Mall and is a supermarket of sorts. The store is a decent size and has a variety of fresh food items, shelf food items and even household item that that are housewares. A few tips: -Arrive early. It can get a little crowded. -Prices on items can be cheaper than in larger supermarkets. However this is not always the case so price compare. I've noticed dairy products are somewhat cheaper and sometimes meat. There are some benefits to purchasing produce here too. But not all items are cheaper. -Most items are not a name brand but there are some available. (Red Lobster biscuits were super cheap). -Bring a quarter for your cart. You won't have one without it. -Bring your own bags to bag your groceries or you can purchase bags for 10 cents each. Be mindful. They aren't that big so depending on your shopping load you may need to adjust your amount. read more

I've been shopping at Aldi for many, many years. This store does it right...it's the big, name-brand store in Germany. It's sooo nice to have one in the area...just a 15 minute drive from Woodhaven, Queens. Went to this location for the first time tonight. Not too crowded, clean, and the selection was awesome! Lots of gluten free and organic options. Almond milk, coconut milk, masala sauce, black bean burgers, granola, wow! I stocked up! I got four, big boxes of groceries for less than $150. I'm a happy customer!! This is the place! Can't wait to go back. So I'm still looking for a dress to wear to a wedding! So I decided to go to gateway and take a look into Marshalls. As I drive along my usual route... BAM....a development was built over night. New stores are planning to open by the end of August but Aldi was already open for business so I decided to take a peek. I got chills looking at the prices. At any other store I would have spent at least $80 to $90 dollars but I only spent $40.00 on groceries plus $3.99 for their bags. Oh yeah, make sure you bring your own bags or you will have to pay. At first I was pretty annoyed but once I saw how cheap my bill was I totally got it, and it's worth it! .50 cents for bread and .25 cents for a big bag of grapes. Yes you read correctly, there is no typo. I can't wait to return!! I love finding bargains. I took one star off because it's not a "complete" grocery store but it is pretty darn close! I still have to go to another grocery store for certain items like my favorite cereal....Frosted Flakes. read more

I totally love Aldi. I love the prices. I love the products. I love the wages they pay their employees. I love that whenever I shop there, the employees are seated while ringing up purchases. Yes they mainly carry their own brands and the produce/meat can be spotty at times but that won't stop me from giving them my money. Where else can you pay under $3 for a gallon of milk in NYC? If they were closer, I'd go there more often. As it is, I make it a point to do one or two big trips here a month because I just have nothing truly bad to say about the company and this location. I love Aldi. read more

My mom and I had come here as we just started doing Insta Cart together for fun. I had just come home from my friend's house and had jumped into the car with my mom to go to this location for the Insta Cart batch. We had traveled across the Throngs Neck Bridge in the RAIN to get there. I had to pee before I even hoped in the car to get to this store. We traveled on the bridge in the middle of the rain to get here to grab the items for the Insta cart batch. There were over 30 items and I had to pee really badly. Finally, after finding one worker I asked if I could go to the bathroom she told me to ask the manager. The manager could barely even let me ask the question. And wouldn't t even make Eye contact with me. It was beyond rude. She suggested that I walk across the street in the middle of Brooklyn in a very bad neighborhood. I live In a superior neighborhood and I have never once been told to walk across the street to use the public restrooms. I even told the manager that I was going to pee in my pants. The manager claimed it was a liability issue. I understand if it's a restaurant and I never sat down and ordered food or a drink but I was shopping for groceries. for Insta cart. I was so agitated I told my mom not to get food for us as well. We spent over an hour shopping for all the correct items of the batch as well as having very little help when we needed to find "replacements". The only workers that were seen were the cashiers and one stockgirl. I am very disappointed and will never return here again as well as make note of this situation. Hopefully, the next time someone has to use the restroom esp. a little kid they will be able to ! NOT OK. read more

Aldi's is definitely a great supermarket for you to head to if you want to save some coins. They don't have many name brand options, but their items are certainly quality. They have organic options and a lot of home good deals that you have to be there to stumble upon. My sister has bought furniture from there for her terrace, a tent, dishes, etc. I recently just found a cute Minnie Mouse plate set for my little one for $7 bucks which is dirt cheap compared to what's on amazon. The box was messed up, but the plate set was perfectly fine. I definitely will be buying a lot more home good items from here. Not to mention they have wild caught frozen fish here for a good price. Don't sleep on aldi's. read more

For those of you who don't know, Aldi is the sister (discount ) grocery store to Trader Joe's; both stores are owned and operated by Albrecht Discounts. Aldi was started in Germany in 1948 by a mom. Her two sons took over her corner bodega and turned it into a billion dollar enterprise first in Europe then here in the States. Aldi is the no frills, no marketing, low staff, rent your shopping cart for a quarter, eliminating the need to be hire folks to collect carts from parking lots, repurpose cardboard boxes into carry out containers, no advertising, no bag providing--bastard of the family. Its prices seem low because, well, over head is low. Or so Aldi would have you believe. Pro- Aldi does carry imported goods, like chocolates and cookies, from abroad. Usually these countries have stricter rules about food additives so they are a bit healthier than a comparable US brand. The low overhead ( for advertising, marketing, and staffing) keeps the prices down on produce. You'll rack up on deeply discounted produce, especially if they are included in the weekly specials. While lines can be long on pay day, usually long lines during the mid-day or mid-week are non-existent. Cons- While the imported goods are well-priced, many of its everyday items are not. The prices for staples like cheese, milk, or eggs are in line with Shop Rite's (SR) prices. In fact, you may catch a better deal at SR on sale days, senior days, or by using coupons. Purchasing these items are often much cheaper at BJs. For example, five dozen large eggs are $7.99 at BJs! One dozen at Aldi's is over $2. The low overhead means the store feels like you are shopping at a food bank for the needy. And while, Aldi carries its own house brands, you'll have to ditch your preference for or high-brow attitude towards "name" brand labels like Heinz or Kraft or General Mills. Once you do, you'll feel better knowing that you are buying the same products that are probably sold at even higher prices at Trader Joe's. One reason prices seem awesome at Aldi is because the parent company buys in bulk and distributes products under Aldi and TJs. One difference is that TJs also tends to repackage goods from well-known brands and resell them under its own label. While the lines can be long on certain days/times, the 360 bar codes on products make for fast scanning and check out. The verdict: 3.5 Aldi is great for buying discounted produce, sale items, and imported goods. Buy other products with caution. Beware of the per pound ( /lb) prices. Items are not as cheap or discounted as people think. Further, share a BJ's membership with a trusted friend and rack up on coupon deals or already discounted products. Last, use coupons at Shop Rite or purchase sale items before going to Aldi. read more

This place was disgusting to be in. It looked filthy and seemed to be a cross between a low rent .99cent store and a grocery store and neither one done well. The isles were full of pallets and garbage and NOTHING was organized. Judging by the filth and jumbled mess I wouldn't eat any type of meat or vegetables from aldi. The lack of professionalism from the staff clearly extends from the cashiers to the management to the rest of the staff. The prices are lower than other stores no doubt. I would gladly pay twice what they charge to never be in this store again! I feel like i need a shot after that experience read more

I wish I knew about the existence of Aldi sooner than this year. Their grocery prices can't be beat, especially in NYC, and the quality isn't half bad either. I was really impressed and taken in the first time I came here. That effect is gone now, but it's my go-to place for most grocery shopping now. I wish they had more Asian foodstuff, but given they filled my need for orange creamsicles and weekly nifty stuff, I'll forgive them - for now. I also keep my quarters handy for them, and I like their incentives to reuse bags and boxes and reduce landfilling the world with plastic bags. read more

This is the best Aldi location I have been to in Brooklyn. All the stores have been remodeled lately so not much to say about that, but this location stocks everything i need on the regular, prices and quality are consistent. At first I was not sure what to expect, but I am now their biggest fan. They have lots of organic fruits and veggies, they are also owned by Trader Joe's. I find their prices to be lower than Trader Joe's as well. Sometimes you may find a few brand name products, but often not. But their products are just as good and at very low prices. Gave it a second shot after a few months. Disappointed and never going back. Love Aldi in NJ. Went yesterday afternoon (sunday) Saddest looking shelves. Mostly snacks and canned goods. Empty freezers. Disorganized. Didnt even want to look at meat section..ugh! Produces looked horrible. The guy trying to replensh was rude, threw boxes around and had a miserable looking face. The prices are great! However the customer service needs to be improved, and the store needs SHOPPING CARTS!

-Almond milk for $2.59. About half the price of anywhere else. Yes, please. -13 cents an egg. It's cheaper than at BJ's, even though you think you're getting a better deal at BJ's because the cartons are bigger; do the math. BUT, the price of eggs has been creeping up here. From $1.50-something a dozen to $3-something a dozen. -$3 watermelons -Cheap butter -Garlic bread for less than half the price of the brand names -A big 'ol bag of no-name breakfast sausage on the cheap. I'll take it! Groceries are expensive, so definitely get the no-frills basics here and walk away happy with the knowledge that you are saving big! Note: They only accept debit and cash; no credit. You need a quarter, which you get back, to use a grocery cart. Bring your own bags if you don't want to be charged for them. There are some items that you will find cheaper at places other than Aldi, so do your research. Also, I haven't seen good Idaho potatoes here yet. They seem to be already past their shelf life. read more

The Aldi's at Gateway is much more expensive than the one at Green Acres and all my avocados were bad.

This is always my first stop on my shopping day. Prices are very reasonable. Although they offer a wide selection of things: it is a small space so the selection can be limited within in each category. They have organic vegetables but 2 to 6 at a time. No bags, & a quarter to rent the cart help cut cost which is fine by me. Mostly no name brands. But personally I don't care about the name on my tissue box or 3 spiral notebook. Pro tip - go early, the lines can get ridiculous and stock is often limited. Also I've heard expiration dates can be an issue. Personally I have not seen it once. Please your wallet is begging you to just take a look. read more

The prices are creeping up. When I'm on Long Island, I will go to the Aldis there because the prices are so much lower. Sometimes the staff can be very good & sometimes they can be terrible, esp. the managers, so very uneven there. Usually the quality of the food is perfectly acceptable, but I did get a bag of shredded mozzarella that had a core of mold. They honored their double your purchase back, but how much shredded cheese does a person need? And the customer level is getting less sophisticated, so they can be very pushy & rude. That was probably the biggest shock of all the changes. read more
