Cherry Hill Gourmet feels like what you would get with if Whole Foods was mixed with some of the ethnic grocery stores in the neighborhood such as Tashkent or Netcost Market. They have an interesting selection of European chocolates, pastries, gourmet products, meats, etc. A lot of these products are fairly unique and I haven't seen elsewhere in the neighborhood or in New York in general. The space is fairly big and it kind of looks like a space such as a church that was converted to a super market. read more

This is a cute little market located in a building from the 1920s. They carry a variety of items you wouldn't find at normal supermarkets. We found several butters from different parts of Europe. It was neat to see them offer cured meats from all over the world. They even have caviar! We picked up a Russian cheesecake bar, Lithuanian cherry soda, danish butter, Russian honey cream cake, and some different salamis. The Russian honey cake is a must try. Whenever I come to Sheepshead Bay to visit my grandmother Cherry Hill is one of my first stops. I love this market/restaurant. The decor in the market is absolutely phenomenal. Look up, down, all around! You will be amazed by the details. There's literally wicker baskets hanging from the ceiling. It's so pretty. There's so many great things about this place but I'm going to try to make this short and sweet and highlight my favorite things: 1: The beautiful flower arrangements. Looking for unique flowers? Come here. They flowers are always fresh and they arrange them into the most beautiful bouquets. 2. The fresh baked goods. You can literally pick up any type of dessert here. They have cakes, pastries, cannolis, single slices of cake... the list goes on. 3. The European candy and chocolate. Enough said. 4. The FRESH produce. Only the best at Cherry Hill. 5. The deli section is always on point. You can literally get any type of meat/salad here. It's always fresh. They have the best food. 6. They have very nice gifts. All the food is very fresh, and the cold cuts were clearly sliced the same day. I received a call from the store letting me know what was no longer available and was given options to swap. So yesterday i traveled to Brooklyn and every time i go i stop by cherry hill because it's gourmet, IYKYK. I always get their salted salmon. The price went up to $30/lb. I make sure to try it so i am not disappointed after trekking back and forth (i had to sell a kidney just so I can afford life in NY) . Yesterday i got a sample, it tasted amazing, i asked for a half a pound because inflation put me on a diet. The lady packed it for me. I spent over $100 on almost nothing (but gourmet, so IYKYK). Get home after a 40 min drive (no traffic!!) and i can't wait to try it, take it out of the plastic, open container, and these people are back to their old Russian tricks. Before you try to come for me, I'm Russian so i know what I'm talking about. The first slice is perfect, the same one that she gave me to try, and it's covering the other 3 SLICES of the fish, which came from a different size and era animal than the first piece they covered it with. I'm pretty good with distinguishing this because i still have my eyesight and as a child i learned all about "one of these things is not like the other" even in my ex-home country. Tasted different as well, like the cheap weathered ends stuff they paddle to people who want a bargain. I'm well aware of the bait and switch technique so from now on every slice is going to be shown to me before it is placed in the container. You wanna act like thieves, I'll treat you like 'em! Gourmet supermarket on Emmons Avenue has a good selection of quality euro specialties, produce, and prepared food. Big plus is that they have a parking lot which is pretty rare in Brooklyn. Their extensive bakery section of cakes, pastries and bread that is baked on premises. Stuff is polite and helpful. Nice quality of ready to eat foods, cheeses and cold cuts. Prices tend to be on higher end of spectrum, close to Manhattan prices. read more

We have shopped at this store often, but have recently had a terrible experience with a product we purchased. After making a purchase of 5 goat yogurts ($3/ piece) we decided to eat them. We opened one and it was moldy. Then the second and there was even more mold. And than the others... There was over a month left before the expiration date. See the 'great' pictures. Now I completely understand, that sometimes products get bad or are not kept in proper conditions in the store. So, when I went back to Cherry Hill to show them the rather unappetizing product, the manager was completely unhelpful. Instead of taking the product back (and returning it to the manufacturer) or replacing it for the same item he told me that I likely did not keep the product refrigerated in the right conditions. Thanks for blaming me but nothing else in my refrigerator had mold. And after that he refused to take it back (despite over a month until the expiration date). So for the absolutely terrible customer service, I'm giving Cherry Hill a 1 star rating. If you pride yourself in being "gourmet" and selling "high quality" products then you should learn how to treat your customers right and take responsibility when something is not fresh. I've never been to a Russian grocer before but this place can be compared to an American gourmet market, but cheaper. You can find the usual produce at your regular supermarket, but fresher. Every section of the market is abundant and the prepared foods section carries a wide selection. I'm particularly fond of their kebabs, eggplant salad and tiramisu cheesecake. With $10 on hand, I was able to sample a little bit of everything without breaking the bank. Remember to look above, baskets are plastered all over the ceiling. Unfortunately, this location is not easily accessible, located in the southern outskirts of Brooklyn, but much worth the trip. read more

I used to shop pretty often at this store, but no longer willing to go there. First, my friend got some pomegranate there that was moldy. She didn't notice the mold right away, and ate just one bite. She got very bad stomach virus after that. We had to take her to an emergency room and it's been more than a week now, she's still not recovered. Today I just went there again and got some pomegranates as well. I opened the first one, and big surprise was waiting for me. You can see it in the picture. I used to come here a lot more often but quality has slipped and prices are outrageous for the area. They do have a great selection of desserts! I definitely recommend getting a slice of the Spartak layer cake, it's amazing! They also have a nice variety of packaged organic foods. I stay away from the fruits and vegetables because you can get the same in nearby Brighton Beach for a fraction of the cost. Hot food is also hit or miss. Lovely interior and presentation of all the food is beautiful but service is the worst. Everyone who works here looks like they hate life. read more

BYOND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! I don't know what's happening with the service people in this place...Are they kept in slavery there? They are so unhappy. The servers act like you are bothering them and they are giving you a favor. And this is quite an expensive store. Lately this store became not so friendly as before. I don't live in Brooklyn and every time I'm in the area I'm coming here and spending $20-50 for good food. Today I stoped by and had a hope to find my favorite dishes (which is beef in its own juice and zucchini pancakes). Unfortunately there was nothing from my list in this store. So the only thing I decided to buy was a can of sweet peas. But the cashier refused to sell it to me referring to the sign on the wall that says "minimum purchase on the credit card is $5". So let's say it's illegal at the first place to state any purchase minimums. Second, I'm a long time customer of Cherry Hills stores and never had this issue before and I do not carry any cash at most of the time. So I am very disappointed and upset. read more

Watch out if you need a manager involvement - not qualified to resolve issues and customer unfriendly. I was billed twice for the same purchase because of their system malfunction, and when I presented all the info necessary to resolve the issue (receipt with the cashier note, card statements clearly showing duplicate charge) and with the cashier who could confirm the issue verbally standing right there, so-called manager Valentina did not even want to look at it, lied to my face and only wanted my full card information, which she is not suppose to have. When you ask the manager for a refill he'll make sure to give you a dirty look with a condescending tone to make you feel like you're not at home. The bathroom was out of order so the restaurant patrons were forced to use a bathroom with piss all over the floor and improper maintenance. I even called and made a formal complaint the following day only for it to be a waste of my time as the supervisor advised me I'd have a free meal and she'd call me later that day or the following; never happened.
