The selection in the store is fine but on the smaller side in comparison to other NetCost Markets, but you can still find a good majority of what you're wanting or needing here. Really reliable grocery store chain in the South Brooklyn area that mainly caters to a Central/Eastern European audience. For instance, the hot buffet bar has blintzes and fish recipes from the region, and there is Ayvar and forest berry teas. I always have a fun experience walking up and down the aisles, especially the bakery which is super extensive. My only gripe is that the cashiers are hit or miss with friendliness. read more

Great local grocery store. What a convenient location, right outside the train station. For the locals, it's part of their commute routine to stop by after work or grab something to go on the way to work. I frequent this spot at least once or twice a week during my stay for my unsweetened Almond milk and basic groceries. They have some organic options - huge plus. They have a focus on Eastern Europe foods as well. Everything is so neat and organized, which makes for a stress free shopping experience. The service is a hit or miss depending on the time and days. On most weeknights, service is highly efficient. Stay away on Friday nights. The lines were short but wait times were long and the cashiers were extremely slow on Friday evenings for some reason. I thought Texas checkouts were slow, but this made Texas looked good! Overall, I like the convenience and a variety of options. Despite Friday evening encounters, it's a wonderful option! read more

I honestly love NetCost lol. The selection is amazing! Are prices higher than my local Chinese markets? Yep, for sure. But I do stop by for the hot food bar and to grab certain brands that Chinese markets don't carry (oat milk & Faye yogurt if you're wondering). Everything is always fresh, there's a selection of organic produce, and the addition of being able to try other cultural food is always cool. The hot food bar is AMAZING. Even at like 5PM it's still going strong and looking fresh as all hell. The lamb rack.. so...so...good! The Peking duck looks amazing, though a I've yet to try it since it's served as a whole half a duck. The assortment of pastries/fried things are great too, especially at the ~$6/lb price (when you have a NetCost card). Chicken drumsticks (raw ones lol not from the food bar) are priced well and huge! They also have rabbit, lamb, duck, etc. the variety is great. I would advise maybe skipping their fish section though. Chinese markets tend to have fresher and cheaper selections in my opinion. I went to the store today and the security guard was following me. He was upset, that I don't ware a mask (i had a mask on, but not on my nose). I explained him that i have a difficulty breathing, but pretty much he said he doesn't care. Moreover, he asked me to leave the store and was threatening with police. So, when i came out of the store, he called me Stupid because i came out ‍ There is no reasonable action of the security guard, because for the 20 minutes i was taping, I found 18 people including the same security not wearing a mask on their nose. Nobody else had the same rule - no mask - no entry. The rule had to work only for me. The rest of the people could shop easily ‍ I would definitely attach some pictures of the people with no masks on and of the security guard who called me stupid. No same rules for everyone, just for someone that they didn't like for some reason I actually have a video proof of everything what was going on uploaded on YouTube and Instagram. read more

This is my regular NetCost location, though I may migrate to the newest one on Ocean Ave because of their parking lot. I love this market, though, because the workers are always polite and friendly and if they don't happen to speak English they will find someone else who can for you. The prices are pretty competitive and they stock many items that would otherwise be more expensive, if not available, at big name supermarket chains like D'Agostino or Fairway. Where else are you going to find cheap caviar? Pâté by the pound? There are two major flaws with this particular market-- the lack of parking spaces and the glacial speed at which the checkout lines move at. Fortunately, NetCost is located next to the Gravesend Neck Rd station (Q) because it will take forever to find a parking spot. As for the long and slow checkout lines, you'll just have to grin and bear it. The cashiers are always nice and patient but there's usually only two or three working there at a time. read more

Cheating and misleading customers on prices. Be very careful! Salmon baked. Price, if you can see it, $10.99 (as you assumed, per pound. No per slice). At the counter you will be surprise to know it. 2 small peaces will be over $21. Girl at salad bar who pack it for you in a box, will place label on it - $10.99 per pound. total $21. I asked cashier weight this box for me. Less than a pound!I asked manager how come label on box said $10.99 per pound and total $21 and weight less than a pound ? he got nervous and run around, came with the answer, its price per slice. Slices are different, some bigger some smaller. Last time I didn't pay attention ad paid over $21 for baby size slices! Its a rip off! Its hard to see anything says $10.99 per slice at the bar. Now in the times of the pandemic this store has started doing internet orders for delivery, so my review is primarily on the customer service surrounding that. I've placed two large orders so far, over $200 each (the second being over $250), and I selected the "call me" option in case of substitutions on both. The first order went smoothly, the shopper called me several times regarding what he could and couldn't find, until the order was complete. The only thing I wasn't entirely happy with that time was that they sent me Korean carrots that literally expired the next day - but they tasted okay and I was able to finish them. On my second order a few items were missing and a few were replaced, and NO ONE called me to inform me of either. I tried calling the store myself - on my first attempt they just hung up without answering, and on the second attempt someone answered and transferred me to the online order person who then never picked up. I left a message, but no one got back to me before my delivery went out. If I am purposely selecting the option to call me, I expect to have that option! Especially on such a large order! I would have gladly chosen some substitutions myself. I should mention that I did tip generously both times. I just hope that their customer service will improve rather than worsen over time. Edit: the company contacted me to apologize for what happened to assured me that the shoppers will always call going forward, so even though they haven't asked me, I am updating my review to 4 stars. When our visiting the one at 3100 Ocean Ave showed the amazing glitz and perfect best supermarket in the world was under renovation into an even shinier more amazing Gourmanoff (Net Cost's top tier of market and service to guests) Market, I was both excited at the possibility of an even better market there but then turned my attention to this backup market whose cafe, Gourmanoff Bakery, I've visited 3x before, so I was very excited to now visit the parent, especially as I've had an anxious day which beer, bread, and cheese will always resolve. This market review could span many pages and so I will try as much as stamina permits. First, the entrance, it seems like some small sketchy blase market from the doors, the slightly off-kilter entry opens up into a perfectly decorated vast produce space with custom fonts on all the tons of artwork akin to a Trader Joe's or Wegmans. Such a happy brightly lit scene on a quiet unassuming street! Walk forward thru the store width then turn left to see the smorgasbord of Russian food for which NetCost is so well known, even in these smaller locations of theirs, with the hot buffet and prepared foods on left, tonnes of dairy ahead of that, and vast central dry goods section. You can take a veritable tour of the Russian federation and former Soviet bloc and Eastern European locales just by browsing. Service seemed friendly from the few interactions I had with sample tables and stocking people to ask locations. The bakery section in the front near the checkout was Russian-only speaking which is fine as labelling and signage are plentiful. TVs overhead have a rotating slideshow of local Russian businesses' ads and store specials, albeit all in Russian. Overall, just a thrilling supermarket which serves your daily needs to not-so-daily wants. read more

On my first visit to the supermarket I was excited to see some international selections. However, my first interaction with employees was disappointing not to mention jacked-up prices for such a big store. I approached the closest employee to me who was a young kid with blonde hair ( he looked like he was wearing pijamas ) and asked him this: Me - Hi, can I ask you a question? Employee - No , you can't! ( as he walks away) Now, I know most Russian businesses in Brooklyn suck at customer service but I didn't know it could get to these levels! After getting smacked with such a rude, arrogant answer I approached the register and asked to speak to a manager where I had to wait for 15 mins. Finally a lady shows up and the first thing she tells me is this: "What do you want?" Well after seeing a careless/clueless kid talking to me in such manner I was not surprised to meet a manager who was no better. She couldn't understand what I was complaining about so she called a "back-up". A young man came down whose English was much satisfactory than any other employee I talked to in that store. I described him my experience and told him that he needed to train his employees properly ( or at least not hire them "straight outta" jungle.) He apologized for employee's actions and left. I guess that's what it takes to be a manager at Netcost market. I spent more than $150 that day and I believe I over-paid not only for goods but for sh*tty attitudes as well. Thank you. read more

WARNING: some of the fish sold here is treated with CO. Typically this is done to fish from China. It makes the fish look bright and fresh, though that couldn't be farther from the truth. Many supermarkets in the US refuse to sell fish treated with CO. It is very unhealthy to consume such fish. Check the labels! read more

Here's my dirty little secret. I pretend to speak Russian so I can navigate this place without hassle. It's that worth it. Honestly, this is the most hidden find ever. The market is based in a warehouse that once housed an off-price clothing store and a sweat shop. These days it's a supermarket specializing in Russian products. You'd never know about it unless you're either Russian or from the immediate area. Out of all the Russian supermarkets I've visited, this is probably my favorite. It's fairly low key, less expensive than the others (probably because of the relatively low rent they pay here) and has an absolutely huge selection. My family and I have been shopping here basically since it opened, and while it used to be better and quieter, now they've expanded and offer a much bigger selection. Selection of what? Well, pickled items, fish, meat, teas, russian candies, russian beers, fruit and soft drinks and just about any other Russian edible item you can think of. The employees don't really speak English so it can be a process if you need something. For the most part I've done ok. It's just at the counters where you'll encounter a bit of trouble. I like to buy smoked fish there. I usually point at what I want and then do a half-assed sign language letting them know I want more or that it's enough. For the prices, though, it's worth it. read more

So Im an American-born Russian-speaking New Yorker who tends to lean towards English more often than Russian. For many of you who relate, you'll understand where I'll be going with this. In many Russian-speaking communities, it is common to get mistreated or not served because you either dont speak the language, or at least look like you dont. Many of these stores hire rude staff that will often skip you for someone who speaks their language because English is their 3rd language, not even their second. I have finally arrived to a Russian store that not only treats everyone with equal respect, but everyone speaks English. Smiling, courteous staff, eager to help. I feel, for once, welcomed by the Russian community. The selection they offer is more than tremendous. And they dont only carry Russian products. The deli stretches far beyond Eastern Europe, but Italian and American products are offered as well. The prices are incredibly low too!!! I hate writing surveys. They know you don't speak Russian. It's ok. They really don't care. You can point your finger right? They have a really amazing selection of caviar. At least 4 reds and 2 blacks, and yes, you can taste them. As a matter of fact they will encourage you to taste them all. The deli is awe inspiring. They have at least 16-20 'salads' on hand at all times and you're welcome to try them. They also have traditional Russian hot dishes. Again, try as much as you like. They have a sushi bar. I saw that and was like... huh? But it's quality! The E16 roll is the way to go. The dessert selection? Awesome. Everything you could possibly imagine is here. If you actually feel like buying real groceries and not prepped stuff like I do you'll be in for a treat. They have a really unique juice selection. you can find cuts of meat that are not readily available in other places and their fish counter has fresh trout at prices I haven't seen elsewhere. Now this is a pretty cool ethnic market. Referred by a friend so I could purchase some European red and black currants (frozen), and I mean currants, not mini grapes from California called currants, I found myself in a completely different world. As soon as I walked in, I was going to eat the entire store...the bread and pastries aroma was mesmerizing...take me to your leader! I couldn't believe all the unique grocery items in Net Cost. I recently was in NYC for a visit and had a strong craving for some Russian, Kavkazi, Bucharian food. Someone mentioned NetCost to me as a place where I can find it all, so I decided to check them out. I'm sooooo glad I did. Their home style meals satisfied all my cravings. They have a great selection of deli meats and cheeses, freshly baked bread, variety of smoked fish, pickled vegetables, olives, and very decent ready to eat food. There is a nice selection of organic dairy products. There is an abundance of teas, coffee, honey (including organic), etc. I have never had an issue with spoiled or expired items. I came here because I just wanted to buy some grocery for my place without knowing its a russian super market. And when I went in I saw all different type of russian food and everything looks really good. I ended up buying some russian food to try and everything is yummy! I bought cake too, very tasty. This place is pretty cool. It's right by the q train and you can't miss it. It sells almost anything you can imagine from Russian to Italian to Polish. So many things!! There's a hot food bar and a bread bar and a meat bar and oh my gosh, so much stuff. I love it here, you can certainly get lost here. Some of the stuff is pricey, like the fruits, but they are really good quality so you get what you pay for. Other stuff is much cheaper like dairy and cheese. It kind of irks me that their deli (meat station) is kind of unsanitary, like how they don't cover their meats after cutting it but that's just my pet peeve. Speaking of which, how clean is their hot food anyway... Also this place is always very crowded! I've never not waited in line. It's always a wait. Also, don't even bother coming here by car.
