I came here, like so many others, from the mouth watering Instagram pictures and was almost scared away by the differences Yelpers posted. When you first walk in there is a cashier to the left and a long display of uncooked meats to cooked and ready to eat foods. On display above are signs with signature sandwiches you can choose from or you can have them make you something. I was first approached by Frank, super nice guy and may be the owner or at least the main butcher. He seemed to be the one in charge and handling things like large orders and questions from other staff. I had the pleasure of being helped by Jose. He was super nice and took his time with my order. I never felt rushed or pressured from him. I got a sandwich I saw on Instagram, but not on the menu with speck (imported prosciutto), arugula, tomato and balsamic glaze on a panini. I didn't want the goat cheese, but didn't realize there was no cheese - that was my bad (thankfully my husband bought some fresh mozzarella). Then at the last minute, I decided to go for the roast beef sandwich as well, but I told him that I wanted to eat it later so he helped me make it with gravy on the side and told me the best way to heat it up. He was great! Oh and threw in a couple of rice balls/macaroni balls for me to try! So so nice! Paul helped my husband and it was the same deal - super nice, took his time, never rushed my husband. When we got home to eat, my sandwiches when I finally ate them all, were delicious and well made. Not as overwhelming looking as Instagram, but good and yummy sandwiches. The sauces, marinara and pesto were very yummy and went well with the mozzarella in carrozzi. The zucchini sticks were good and so was the chicken parm and pretty much everything we got. It also lasted us for some days! B & A gave us a shopping experience and made it enjoyable rather than a get in, get out, next feel. Jose, Paul and Frank were great and we definitely look forward to coming back!

But I guess the customers that give the butchers money on the side as we see in front of our own eyes take precedence over loyal customers who never shopped for meat anywhere else in Bay Ridge. Lesson learned, you lost a repeat customer because your butchers give meat to who they want and save it for the people they like (who can give them money on the side). I guess bakhsheesh is more important than repeat business and customer loyalty.

What began as a search for easy access to high-quality meets, led to my discovery of this butcher. One of the big drawers of patronizing their business is the partnerships they have with sustainable farmers. And you can tell the quality is there. I've had some of the best cuts of meat ever from here (especially their bacon). Some of the items I've received have been: pork loins A half chicken (I wish they left the innards ) Lamb sausage Chorizo (7.5/10) Rib eyes Beef tenderloin (my favorite) Bacons (also my favorite) Spicy chili French butter Mushroom seasoning/rub Bauvette Terrine Prepackaged sausage links (my least favorite, especially the ones with cheese inside) Chicken salad Ham hock And more I would really like to continue this membership, however I'm currently ordering the Deluxe Box (the higher tier) and I'm considering downgrading or pausing because it's definitely a lot to cook over the month. I wish there was an option to select what you want in the box, even if it were the animal, as I LOVE their ground beef and most of their beef products, but don't particularly love some of the sausages and ham items. Also, I believe the membership is advertised as to having monthly recipes, notes and ideas for each of the cuts of meat, but I have yet to see those.
