One of my favorite things about K&Y is that they have lots of produce (especially Asian ones) that you can't find at TJoe's: for example, gailan (Chinese broccoli), baby bok choy, whole artichokes, broccoli rabe, butternut squash, Thai basil, serrano peppers, just to name a few. Their roma tomatoes are so much riper than TJoe's as well. In addition to produce, they have lots Asian goods that you can pick up without going to Chinatown such as sesame oil, curries, rice noodles, etc etc. This is a family owned place that also runs Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable. Can read more about this business here: http://southbrooklynpost.com/2010/01/k-y-veggies/. Highly recommend this place for fresh produce at very reasonable prices.

The reason I'm giving this three stars is because it really lacks choices. Sure it has the staples but you don't have many brands to choose from. What I continue to love about Mr.Beet is the uniqueness of the produce strategically arranged at the entrance of the store. Once you enter, additional fruit and veggies available inside as well as beverages, shelved merchandise (some gourmet), frozen goods and more, all at regular prices. They used to have a fresh juice counter, but it's been eliminated and replaced with fresh cut flowers section. Their squeezed juice was one of the best at remarkable prices. Oh, NO!! They didn't have my favorite low calorie after dinner snack. I immediately found a nearby store, Prospect Market that had my favorites. I scheduled an order for the next morning. The delivery was prompt & accurate. So when my son gave me the bad news that we would run out of my favorite coffee I decided to visit Prospect Market & search for something similar. I had previously seen the nicely done storefront on Prospect Park W in the midst of the main shopping & eatery area in Windsor Terrace. So I knew it was close & had street parking available. The clean, long & wide aisled market featured a plethora of my favorites. It was similar to a market I had shopped in often when my son lived in Carroll Gardens. On a visit to the old neighborhood I learned that market had been acquired by Prospect Market. I'm not one to browse aisles. So after my son directed me to the coffee section, I immediately started searching for caramel infused beans. There were two choices. I went with my son's recommendation, which was a brand based in Queens. It was excellent. The right coffee is the perfect way to begin my day. Prospect Market solved my coffee emergency. I'll return often when I'm visiting my son. Prospect Market has a great selection of my favorites.

I don't live in the area but whenever I drop in, I find myself picking up some items I normally cannot find in Carroll Gardens. I would like to uproot this store to my neighborhood! Their produce section is extensive and attractively arranged. Towards the back is a very nice cheese section. For those who are vegetarian/vegan, there is a copious selection of tofu, tempeh and seitan products. I really like their frozen food section and the meat department is fairly decent with regards to what they carry, including the Beyond Meat line. I can continue to list the many categories of what is in stock only to outline the vast selections. Because I don't live in the area and had to carry my groceries back home, I couldn't buy too much. My bag contained a tray of chicken wings (for BBQ), 2 Polar diet fudge sodas, Ithaca beet/lemon hummus and a package of mini Naan bread totaling $19.17. I think their prices are average/standard. Really nice market in this part of Brooklyn.

Everything here is only expensive because they make up prices as they go it's supper bad and I really wouldn't recommend this deli especially if you're a tourist because they will exploit your wallet.m They act like since it's close to the city they're allowed to charge ppl $40 for 3 items it's really sad and i genuinely believe this store doesn't deserve buissness

Think going deep into the smaller batch offerings of many local brands in particular like Barrier, Evil Twin, Other Half and Kelso, as well as national stars like Half Acre and Stillwater among others. Its gotten to the point that it often rivals the selection of the excellent Goldstar Beer Counter a block away, minus the growlers. As you can see, whats driving this high rating is chiefly the beer selection, it really might just be quietly one of the best in BK and I hesitate to blow up my own spot but I must give credit where it is due, and its very much due here. Beyond that the place is one of the more bougie "gourmet" delis that are found throughout the metro that generally represent a step or so up from the humble bodega, both in terms of quality/selections of offerings and in pricing. Basically a good spot in the area that doesn't have one. But the Russian grocery products and produce are much more impressive - larger offerings, good deals, and just... it's huge! I misjudged its size from the outside as the further you go back, you'd find a large space to your left that consists of a huge assortment of deli items, herrings, aryan yogurt products, and something which I learned of recently - tarragon soda. The green liquid was at first disturbing but I was brave enough to try it and found it to actually be nurturing for the stomach - oddly. But either way, I wouldn't have learned about this if it wasn't for you - Gourmet Plaza. A note about customer service - nobody is really friendly here it seems - it's pretty cold and straight forward, with outdated POS systems and in a place where even walls and floors are needed of a good update.
