I work locally and when it hits lunch time- I have found that most locations are too expensive. However, what makes this location so appealing is the service, the quality, the prices, and how friendly the employees are. NYC is swarming with people and with our busy and chaotic lifestyles, we often don't think to say "hi" or get the small town feel by knowing your neighborhood vendors. Granted, Park Slope is unique in the sense that this is pretty much, Sesame Street- a family friendly neighborhood. Although, the intimacy of knowing who the merchants are is still lost. Whenever I call to make my order- they always know what I want and make suggestions based on my liking's (they actually pay attention :) ) So, next time you are there or if you choose to give this place a shot-- ask for Hector, because he is incredibly kind, sweet, and an overall awesome individual. They underwent a long, annoying renovation/expansion earlier this year, so whenever I popped in, half their stock was always missing. But Ace Supermarket, now known as 7th Avenue Gourmet, is back with a bang. The previously dusty and claustrophobic aisles have been replaced by brighter, cleaner shelving, and you no longer feel like a 20-lb bag of cat food will collapse on you when you turn a corner. They're somewhere in between a bodega and a supermarket, with the inventory to match. Stock since the renovation has gotten a bit fancier, with organic this and that and shiny types of water - even produce! Looks like they've added a deli counter as well. Most notably, 7th Avenue Gourmet retained Ace's AWESOME beer selection. What the heck kind of neighborhood grocery has this many kinds of beer?? You can mix and match bottles, too - they have a stack of recycled cardboard holders in front of the coolers. Prices are comparable to Key Food nearby. But the older man (owner?) at the counter is always ridiculously friendly - decidedly not comparable to surly Key Food cashiers. Support your local businesses! read more

I actually really like this market. It's close to where I live, open late (until 11pm), and, while maybe not the cheapest, will have necessities in a pinch like a can opener. They have a pretty good selection of brews, too. I'm not sure what the review regarding masking was about, because it clearly has a sign requiring masks on the door. I've never seen an unmasked person inside the store. read more

There are virtually no prices listed on the shelves or individual items. This is not a temporary issue due to remodeling or restocking. For items with several brands, it's impossible to chose the item within your budget because you don't know the price until it's rung up at the register. I'd like to support small businesses when possible as opposed to larger grocery chains, but it's impossible to do so within a budget when there is no price transparency. read more

Surly help, ridiculous prices and long past its prime. Deli guy never seems to notice when customers are waiting to place an order. Most beers sold individually aren't priced which means you have to go up to the register to ask, which is a hassle for the customer and cashier. Cashiers there are not customer-centric and could care less what people think about the store. They're non-communicative, non-engaging and would rather focus on their cellphones than anything else, including the shoplifting TV monitors. Would be helpful to have a list of what the pricing is on your beer, if you don't want to go to the trouble of pricing each individual can. On the plus side, they do have a good selection of beer. I think that most people in Park Slope aren't price sensitive and the store takes advantage of this. Avoid this place, but if you're in a rush or need something badly, you'll be be shopping there. read more

Picked up two yogurt containers and noticed at checkout that they had expiry dates for 12/31/19 (today is 1/14/20). I told the cashier and went back to get a different yogurt. This one had printed on it an expiry date of 1/18/20. I get it home and there is MOLD growing in it. So, not only problems with supply going on here (not keeping stock up to date with items two weeks past expired on shelves) but also clearly refrigeration issues too if a yogurt four days from expiry has mold as far gone as it has. It was expensive yogurt too! Fml. The last time I will ever be going is tomorrow, to demand a refund. read more

I used to love this place. It was a stones throw away from home and it always had just what i needed. HOWEVER, they've been doing a lot of changing there, and now they never have anything. I go in all the time expecting them to have common drinks or snacks and i can't believe it when the direct me to an isle that doesn't have what i came in for. This place has a decent selection of most things, but most important is that they are always willing to entertain the idea of ordering new items for their inventory if there is a reasonable request. They've done so on two seperate occasions and I am eternally grateful for it. read more

This is thee best supermarket in Park Slope. It's conveniently located on the corner of 7th ave and Berkley Pl and open until 10pm which is great. They are always friendly and helpful esp. Jimmy who is also very funny. The store is always fully stocked and has a great assortment of goods ranging from beers, beverages gourmet, and organic which is my favorite. They definitely have a unique selection compared to other supermarkets and you can just run in and out instead of waiting on a long line at Key Food. I would highly reccommend Ace as your supermarket to go to! read more

I tried to return beer bottles and was not only told that I could not return them there (which seems odd for a store that specializes in beer), but the woman at the cashier's counter turned on me with pre-emptive nastiness for even asking. Recently renovated, clean, and well stocked. Lots of higher end yummy items, and a bunch of good beers. But why am I writing my first ever yelp review of this place? Because after the cashier rang up my purchases, I realized---I didn't have my wallet!
