They underwent a long, annoying renovation/expansion earlier this year, so whenever I popped in, half their stock was always missing. But Ace Supermarket, now known as 7th Avenue Gourmet, is back with a bang. The previously dusty and claustrophobic aisles have been replaced by brighter, cleaner shelving, and you no longer feel like a 20-lb bag of cat food will collapse on you when you turn a corner. They're somewhere in between a bodega and a supermarket, with the inventory to match. Stock since the renovation has gotten a bit fancier, with organic this and that and shiny types of water - even produce! Looks like they've added a deli counter as well. Most notably, 7th Avenue Gourmet retained Ace's AWESOME beer selection. What the heck kind of neighborhood grocery has this many kinds of beer?? You can mix and match bottles, too - they have a stack of recycled cardboard holders in front of the coolers. Prices are comparable to Key Food nearby. But the older man (owner?) at the counter is always ridiculously friendly - decidedly not comparable to surly Key Food cashiers. Support your local businesses!

Completely fine neighborhood market, but 'gourmet' is pushing it.

It's dependably open 24 hours and it has the kinds of staples you need from a 24-hour deli.

Memberships are about $100 and while they were too busy to really help me at the time I was there (it was pretty crowded yikes!), I will return and get more info. But this review is for my experience as a "guest" and I was impressed. It's certainly somewhere I would return to shop!

This food co-op personifies everything people hate about Park Slope. Uppity, insular, privileged,…read moreand provincial. If you are interested in joining, you must complete orientation and pay the $25 fee (non-refundable) and $100 equity investment (refundable upon giving them the finger and ending membership) BEFORE you are even allowed to set food into the co-op. There are no exceptions to this rule. Signing up is also dicey; you have to keep going to their website until there's an opening for orientation, which is rare. I sincerely wish someone would infiltrate this elite organization and destroy it from the inside. Kind of like the Night Manager, but in food-coop form. They'd be running so fast their Birkenstocks would fall off.

Park Natural is an all around health store most likely similar to same establishments in other neighborhoods. It's much appreciated to have in the ' hood even though it's been around for years. Let me be candid for a sec. I don't represent myself as a person who subscribes entirely to eating only health, organic, raw or plant foods. However; I do make a concerted effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle which is where the difference lies. Everything or most things in moderation! But back to Park Natural. I love this store simply because they have just about everything from organic veggies/fruits, vitamins, and bottled beverages to skin care items, refrigerated goods and cooked foods. Keep in mind, you'll dig a bit deeply into your pocket to pay for them. Most health food stores are on the expensive end. In other words, to eat well and maintain a healthy lifestyle isn't cheap. It's why fast food joints are inexpensive. How ironic when we are encouraged to be healthy! Park Natural is the kind of store that appeals to everyone in addition to vegetarians which is great because they carry tempeh and seitan. I like those items myself. Situated near the corner of President and Court Streets, the store is spacious and immaculate. I buy all my vitamins here. And it's comparable to a good friend--you may not always visit them, but you know they are there.

It only became worse the very next day when I had to toss 4 of the 5 for being moldy. The 5th one had to be tossed the next day. Contrast that with the 2 x 2lb bags of nectarines and peaches I purchased from Trader Joe's for $10 that were excellent and not moldy. I'll continue to use Park, but only in emergencies and probably not for fresh fruit.

I can't remember if they have meats besides like cured meats. A lot of snack type stuff here. It's basically like in between a bodega and a grocery store. This is where I come if I want bodega stuff and slightly more, and the store is cleaner than most bodegas. The guy at the cashier who I assume is the owner is really nice too.

Think going deep into the smaller batch offerings of many local brands in particular like Barrier, Evil Twin, Other Half and Kelso, as well as national stars like Half Acre and Stillwater among others. Its gotten to the point that it often rivals the selection of the excellent Goldstar Beer Counter a block away, minus the growlers. As you can see, whats driving this high rating is chiefly the beer selection, it really might just be quietly one of the best in BK and I hesitate to blow up my own spot but I must give credit where it is due, and its very much due here. Beyond that the place is one of the more bougie "gourmet" delis that are found throughout the metro that generally represent a step or so up from the humble bodega, both in terms of quality/selections of offerings and in pricing. Staff is friendly and efficient and again the beer selection is AMAZING...
