So I'm aging...no surprise, we all are. But my aging process is killing my neck. I ended back at…read morethe chiropractor this past week, and they got me together. I've never been one to do CBD anything, but if you wake up at 3:30am and can't go back to sleep b/c if you lay down your neck may break...you'll try anything. However, I thought I should help myself a little bit more by adding salve to my neck rubs I've been instructed to do. I pass this place every day and finally had a reason to go in. Yall, I got the CBD salve for neck and joints, and it's working my neck out! The owner was super knowledgeable and helpful. She made me a convert. They have all types of things for ailments and enhancements. Go and get stuff.. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you get.

Donna Troy Cleary is less than one-month old in this neighborhood, but her herbal lineage is…read morethousands of years old, as she descends from Celtic healers on both sides of her family. In addition to being a certified herbalist, she's a RN, a fiber artist, a mother and a grandmother. The story of her development is truly inspiring so you should just drop in to ask her about it, especially if you are wondering how to give yourself the permission to fully acknowledge the dimensionality of your life. Because yes: you can work your day job, pursue crafts, garden, have wonderful relationships, volunteer, lean into running marathons, learn a new language, get serious about starting that organic vegan hot pockets food truck idea, etc. Whatever it is that you do, let Donna hold space for the fullness of your life, with some useful, organic and well-priced herbal healing. Maybe you need some herbal tea as a thirst quencher or as medicine; or hand-crafted CBD balm to ease muscle soreness or as pain management; or perhaps some tincture for a dry, scratchy throat; or a bunch of calendula to make a soothing summertime drink that cools your system? Yup. All of that can be found in this deceptively tiny shop that stocked to hilt as any apothecary should be but don't expect a dark little store with midnight blue velvet drapes, a selection of wands, a bubbling cauldron, crystal balls and butterbeer lol. (All the herbal majik--aka formulas that truly work and are way better for your body than Advil or Pepto Bismol--is crafted elsewhere ;) Instead, you'll walk into an airy, duplex space that feels light and fresh, with open shelves stocking large jars of dried herbs, flowers, seaweeds, plant materials, arranged by color and texture--Donna says that this is the artist in her--that invites the shopper to get pulled in by her curiosity. Herbal folks who know what they want will appreciate that everything is easy to find and because Donna is right there to answer any questions. I was thrilled to find the calendula I needed for my favorite summertime drink and even more so to learn that it was grown upstate. Donna shared that when she's not sourcing directly from small organic farms, she's personally harvesting herbs for her formulations and bulk offerings. Spiral Herbal Remedies used to live in SOHO but since the shop relocated to its Washington Ave spot, (Get Donna to tell you the story of how the splendid old oak tree anchored right in front of the shop is a Celtic symbol symbol of healing that called to her to rent this spot. Goosebumps. Seriously.), the store's stock list is committed to serving its Caribbean and diverse neighborhood's needs. This means lots of Irish Moss (pls note the Celtic connection), imported directly from Jamaica, which is not just for enhanced boom chika bow wow, but also for congestion/mucous and holds anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Irish Moss is also super amazing for dry skin and for skin conditions ranging from eczema to psoriasis. I also saw huge jars of turmeric, and rose petals, etc. easily made into beauty treatments and/or used as driving flavors in Indian, Bangladeshi, Persian, Ethiopian, Latinx cuisines. Bonus: Spiral stocks a few products not made in-house but by local neighborhood crafters and other niche herbalists. Check out the lovely candles (with embedded dried flowers and crystals) and soothing herbal goats' milk soap, too, for yourself and those you love. Finally, Spiral Herbal Remedies has a charming cafe table set up out front where you can take a load off and have a little rest. I love this gesture to the neighborhood best. Maybe I'll see you hanging out there there I swing by next!

I don't typically get massages but I was pregnant and my body was aching for relief and relaxation…read more I work at the nearby hospital so it's very convenient for me to stop by here before work (I work evening shifts). They have a long range of times for you to get in a massage session which is wonderful and very considerate since not everyone works your typical 9-5 jobs. This parlor is located on the 2nd floor, and they request you to remove your shoes before entering. It's also secure because you ring the bell before they buzz you in, and the front desk is already expecting you so they greet you at the top of the stairs. I believe they offer slippers but I usually have socks on so I just walk in with that. However, if you plan to use the restroom, I'd recommend grabbing a pair of their slippers because socks in a public bathroom is gross. There is very minimal wait time unless you come super early, but I'm usually there right on time or 5 minutes before my appointment. I recommend coming 5-10 minutes early just so that you can get the full time you booked for the massage because if you're pregnant, the set up might take a few minutes, and getting comfortable on the table also takes a few minutes. The masseuse also takes a couple minutes to talk to you about your problem areas if you have any and what your main goal is for the session if it's for relaxation or muscle pain relief. Anyway, I'd never gotten a prenatal massage before, and this was my first pregnancy so I didn't know what to expect but let me tell you, after the first session, I was hooked. My husband gifted me a session for Valentine's day and I made my appointment a month later when I was starting to get uncomfortable with my growing pains. Their website to book appointments is very nice and detailed with every masseuse having their own picture and biography telling you about themselves. I absolutely love this feature of this place because as an anxious person I like to be prepared and know what to expect. As silly as it may seem, it's nice to have a visual of the person who will be massaging you for at least an hour and get a glimpse into their personality or vibe. I truly appreciate whoever thought of this when building their booking website. I've had 2 massages with Noriko, and 1 massage with Ellen. The prenatal massages are relaxing and wonderful, and I highly recommend getting them if you're pregnant. It's such a treat and I looked forward to them right after booking an appointment online. They set up the massage table with plenty of support pillows for your bump. You are in a side lying position and your belly and legs are supported to make you especially comfortable and relaxed. I personally want to gate keep Noriko because she's my favorite. She's also everyone else's favorite because she's always typically booked a month out. She's the sweetest lady and she gives off such a warm and caring aura. I had a second prenatal massage by Ellen and she is also super sweet, she has such a soft and quiet voice which was very calming. She has a different massage style from Noriko, and she massaged me with a seemingly firmer hand than I what I was expecting. Certain points were kind of painful but not to the point I had to say something. Nonetheless her massage had me asleep 30 minutes in to the session just like Noriko's. I haven't tried the other masseuse's. So I can only recommend the Noriko and Ellen thus far. Getting massages regularly gets pricy especially because I like getting the longer sessions. 60 minutes just isn't enough for me. I gave birth already so I'm looking forward to coming back soon for a postnatal massage with Noriko. The front desk staff are all nice and friendly. You can pay by card or cash, tip can also be sent via Venmo if you don't have cash on hand and they have a handy tipping guide taped to the front desk so you don't have to whip out your calculator to figure out 15/20% of your session price. Thank god for that. Fumbling with my phone calculator is embarrassing. Overall, I highly recommend Red Moon Wellness to everyone, and especially to all the pregnant mama's out there. Pregnancy is hard on the body and mind, so it's nice to be able to come to a place like this for some much needed relief and relaxation. I kind of want to know where they bought those support pillows because my pregnancy pillow from Amazon was not nearly as comfortable as theirs. Kind of pointless now that I'm postpartum but wanted to point out that's how comfortable they made me feel when I was all belly.

I had a terrible hives breakout all over me after attending a wedding & my doctors told me I'd have to take a 6 month treatment, & I was also told I should consider doing a weekly allergy shot for a year in order to help my situation. Another time (months later) I was dealing with a situation where I could not grasp anything with my hands without the feeling of pins and needles & heat in my palms. I knew my body was trying to tell me something and for 3 months my doctors just didn't take me seriously to help me figure it out. Both situations I ended up going to Lin Sisters & within a week of what I was dealing with, my symptoms were gone. It's a two week herbal medicine they gave me & honestly within days of taking the tea my symptoms both times had subsided. The third was for my son & again, the symptoms he was dealing with subsided with the herbal tea they prescribed for him. American medicine is just a bandaid whereas holistic medicine will actually search for the root cause & work from there & for that, I am grateful to the work Lin Sisters office does. The front staff & the doctor are truly all very pleasant people & you're for sure in good hands here.

The process is pretty simple: - walk in, fill out a quick medical form and highlight any particular issues you're dealing with. - pay $35 and go upstairs - wait for Dr. Frank to call your number (for me the wait was about an hour but they now allow for online appointments on certain days). - Dr. Frank takes your pulse, checks your tongue and writes a ton of things you can't understand on a piece of paper. - you take his note back downstairs and the staff at the front quickly put together your "treatment". I was given a 12 day regiment to follow and it ran me $90. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting if you're interested in TCM. I am on day 5 and I feel great. Warning- the tea does not taste good.. but not every good thing tastes good- my body will thank me later :)
