The salesperson called the manager to come over, who was excessively argumentative about it. "Let me explain something to you about our products," he said. "Our products do NOT grow mold." It was a little like the old, "who are you going to believe?" joke, since mold was growing right on top of the lotion, and we could both see it. And he just wouldn't stop. I kept telling him, I don't want to discuss this, I just thought they would want to know, I was just trying to be a good samaritan for one of my favorite stores. And he kept arguing. "Mold is caused primarily by moisture," he said at one point, as though he thought I was very stupid. Finally I said, "I'm going to ask you to stop talking." And he wouldn't! So I had to say it again. This all bothers me for two reasons. First, I thought the guy was defensive and insulting. Why disbelieve me? Did he think I brought some kind of fake moldy lotion to his store because ... why? He should have just thanked me for letting him know. Second, I thought they SHOULD care that their lotion grows mold! So the manager doesn't care about quality control, and he has an attitude problem.
