Mini green papaya, passion fruit, and sapota (aka zapodilla)

I shopped here on Juneteenth and bought some sapota (aka sapodilla). They had such big ones and I was so happy. Get 'em while they are still in stock. I was happy they were selling them because I don't know where else to buy these tropical fruit. The service is always good. The market got crowded fast; this place caters to the Caribbean community. I hope they expand the market because when there's a crowd, there's not much room to stand or pick through the fruit. I'm looking forward to shopping there again next month when they have the custard apples in stock.

You gotta pay inside first then go to this man to have your buko prepped.

Location: Brooklyn Service: soso Ambiance: was okay. Food: Well, the reason why I went here was to get the young coconut and the coconut sugar. But I found the sweet tamarind (my fave) and young buko was so so fresh. They will cut it in front or you, pour the juice in a container as well as the white meat. Man I was craving for it since I came here in the US. Been looking for the coconut sugar and I found here for a cheaper price (good amount, worth your penny) they have all sorts of tropical fruits. From sugar apple to guava. You name it probably it's there. Worth the journey.

The only place that I've found the actual soursop fruit which has amazing health benefits. I didn't know how to check its ripeness but the gentleman behind the register had no problem assisting me which was nice. Thank you TikTok.

I discovered this food market on Instagram by someone that I follow. I started shopping at Labay Market during the winter of 2023, and I'm still a customer. I bought two watermelons a couple weeks ago, and I must say they had seeds like they supposed to and I haven't had watermelon like that in several years, it was the best and I'm looking forward to getting more when I go back tomorrow, a line with some coconut water to. Everyone at the market is nice and helpful.

Ask the Community - Labay Market

Do they sell rose apple or otaheite apple aka Malay apple Nase berry custard apple?

I know what custard apple is and they do sell those. I was told they would have them in July.

Does anyone know if they sell pimento wood chunks? If not, does anyone know where I could find some in Brooklyn? Thanks in advance!

    No they don't sell this.

This is a brilliant little grocery with all the essentials and quite a bit of Asian variety…read moreavailable too, along with a small produce selection. There's a lot packed in there! It's a good choice for coffee, snacks, but also fennel, vegan food, kimchi, or eucalyptus cuttings (and, like many small grocery stores, some things are better deals than others). Importantly for the neighborhood, Bad Wife also sell live plants and flowers at very reasonable prices. In the spring and summer, they'll often have flowering plants available. I've always had great interactions with the staff here, and am a fan of the place.

Earlier today, I purchased several plants. In the evening, I returned to the store to return those…read moreitems, for a refund. I no longer wanted those plants. Mrs. Lee refused to accept the return. She referred to a sign that read, plants are not returnable. That particular sign was displayed at at the back of the plant section, on a high shelf. Interestingly enough, at the cash register, there is a sign that states, "Refund policy provided within 2 days receipt." It is mandatory for stores to visibly display their return policy at the cash register. 'The Bad Wife' failed to do so. Mrs. Lee's attitude was rude and dismissive despite being told return policies must be clearly visible by the cash register.
