Awesome selection of vegan regular items, like 'cheese', most in the produce section. Produce is on hit, BEYOND FRESH! They had the BEST hot food buffet with 3 kinds of fish/seafood, vegetables, mac 'n' cheese and a couple other sides. I would stop by before work and get my meals for 2 days in one shot. The fish grilled to perfection, and not at all fishy weird or funky at all. There were times they would have the mac'n'cheese out and fresh as early as 9am! Cashiers are cool and friendly! The variety and selection is so vast it's ridiculous! And one last mention? The music they play !

Food World opens at 7:00 AM, however, DO NOT GO there when it opens instead go when it is extremely crowded later in the afternoon and no assistance can be provided. Why you ask? - On August 27, 2025 at 7:01 AM, when we entered Food World located at 4209 Avenue D, Brooklyn, New York 11203, a "so-called" manager described as M/A/medium - large build/short height/spoke with an accent was standing and facing the produce area as soon as you enter Food World. After greeting this "manager", he responded with, "Why are you here so early? There is no one here!" This "manager" begrudgingly and caustically entered Food World's meat department, grabbed a knife to cut an end of weighed produce for purchasing, and REFUSED to cut the opposite end of our produce because this "manager" said, "This is cheap enough? I (Food World) have to get something! I am not cutting it (the weighed produce) again!" For years, we have shopped at the Pathmark Supermarket on Albany Avenue in Brooklyn, New York less than five blocks away and NEVER experienced such rude, disrespectful, lack of courtesy towards customers, and down right discontent towards customers taking advantage of a food supermarket opening early in the morning. Lesson learned by going to Food World located on Avenue in Brooklyn, New York - TRY NOT TO GO BACK!!

Some common items might be a little bit more than a few other local stores. For example, something like regular whole milk might be a little more. However, they seem to excel for specialty and organic items. Also, there is rarely a line and, if there is one, it's typically just a single person in front of you. This is really convenient if you need something quick and you're in a rush. I'm able to find some items in here that I've only previously been able to purchase online and have delivered to me. This includes items like specialty soups etc. The meat selection is a little bit limited outside of preserved and lunch meats. But they're next to a Key Foods and a market that does almost only meat. So it seems to make sense that Isaac's would try to specialize in other niches. Something they seem to excel at for the area is fairly fresh seafood and a wide variety in the back of the store. They also have a rotating supply of international desserts, treats, and drinks that are outside of the norm for Flatbush. So, in conclusion, I religiously buy eggs here but will often grab some other specialty item on my way to checking out. I have not yet set up a bank in Brooklyn and my closest branch is located in Manhattan. It's convenient that they accept credit cards and has been a life-saver for me on many occasions. The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. If you're not sure after all this but you walk by it often, poke your head in and see for yourself.

Always check expiration dates, because there are often products past their date on the shelf. They do take returns if you realize that you bought something expired, just show them your receipt to prove it was already past the date when you purchased it. There's no scale to weigh produce, and you have to watch carefully at the register, because sometimes the scale might not be correctly calibrated, or there might be something leaning on it. I was once charged for four times the weight of produce I purchased, but luckily I noticed, went back, had a different register reweigh the items, and they processed the return minus the correct charge of the items. It's definitely inconvenient to have to be so vigilant when all I want to do is pay the listed price for groceries that aren't expired, but at least they correct their mistakes on a case by case basis. You're better off at Isaac Apple or Carnival, but this place is ok. Especially if you like the Frank Sinatra soundtrack.
