Try this Aldis in Avon rather than the Walmart across the street
Carmen V.

Love a good bargain? My mom LOVES this Aldis. Every time I'm home I seem to come. My mom swears that everything you get at Aldis is cheaper than larger grocery stores. IF the grocery store doesn't have that item on sale or clearance. My mom buys the bulk of her produce at Aldis. (She despises Kroger produce). They're cheeses and luncheon meats are usually the best price. Dips are ALWAYS a $1.29 (sour cream, french onion, etc.) Cheap wine, too! No promises that it tastes good. $2-3 a bottle for the cheap stuff. Some people LOVE the liquor, wine, and beer they get at Aldis. They might share my family's working class roots and have the tastebuds for cheap stuff. (My family will drink anything.) Some shoppers love the German beer they can buy at Aldis. It's a German company, so lots of good stuff from overseas. ATTENTION: Bring your own bags and a quarter for the grocery cart, though. The good bargains have some tradeoffs when it comes to convenience.

As far as Aldi's goes this particular store is always nice and clean and checkout is amazingly fast and friendly. Of course it is a great value as all the Aldi's stores are.

Great prices on fruits and veggies. Easy to get in, grab what you need and head out. Don't forget to bring change for your trolley and bags for your stash. Currently have items for entertaining such as tiered serving dishes. If you are a baker they have splat type mats for $4.95 which is a bargain.

There's a sign in the salad bar area that tells customers a) The Famous Tomato has the freshest and…read morecleanest salad bar in Indy, and b) please don't touch the salad bar, and also wait behind this line so someone can help you create your salad. I guess this is how they maintain a salad bar that's so fresh and so clean. (No Outkast.) You animals used your grubby, bare hands one too many times to reach for the croutons, and now look what you did. Now we have to talk to someone if we want a salad, and point at what we want like a child. It's all your fault! Actually, it's probably for the best because the salad bar did look delectable and immaculate. So many fresh a clean vegetables! They also have an area with soup and chili, which the staff will also help you with. There are some tables in the salad bar area, so you can sit and eat your food inside the shop. Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. Lots of old fashioned candy, hot sauce and barbecue sauce, novelty sodas, so many different flavors of Moon Pies, and random things like salted peanuts in the shell. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. When you step inside, you'll see that this is a special place, with lots of special and local foods.

The price was incredibly cheap and the salad quality was very respectable. The person taking my order was very nice I would go back for a cheap and easy meal.

My boyfriend and I came on Mother's day (unintentionally) and we waited about 10-15 minutes to sit at the bar. Getting our orders taken & our food served definitely took a bit of time, but we enjoyed seeing all the cooks in action and getting to smell all the amazing smells!! I got Grandpa's one pan skillet and my boyfriend got the sausage breakfast sandwich on croissant bread. All I gotta say is those chefs definitely knew what they were doing! The flavors were unique and intentional and I enjoyed every bite. The home fries (potatoes) were also so yummy and everything was cooked really well. There's nothing basic about borage and I love that! This place is a gem. They also have a cafe/market area where you can order drinks and pastries. I wish we waited until we got seated to order drinks because the menu was much more extensive than what I saw in the cafe and I would have ordered a different drink had I seen all the other options. The staff here are also very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our little brunch and will be back with family next time!

The owner is SO sweet, always offering up samples and letting us know about the new flavors they have out. We most recently stopped in here for some scoops of strawberry ice cream after dinner Monday night, but will usually stop in here before or after taking the dogs on a walk at the nearby YMCA trail or Washington Township Park. It was the perfect way to kick off some warm weather and I highly recommend stopping in and trying one of their MANY delicious flavors of ice cream, sundaes, esquites, or mangonadas.

Danny's has a great selection of flavors to choose from as far as ice cream. I sampled the Honeycomb and OMG!!!! It melted in my mouth. I tried the Cheeto Equite and to my surprise, it wasn't as spicy as I was thinking it would be. It's served warm. Personally, not my favorite because hot Cheetos is not my thing, but I can say that I've tried it. Now, the Churro Sundae is more of my thing. The churros are not made in-house. I opted for vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. I would have like a few more pieces of churros, layered throughout, but it didn't take away from my liking. I'd get it again on another visit. Danny's is a clean, well kept ice cream shop with good service. He's tucked away in a plaza; sitting off Rockville Road. But once you step inside, you'll be in a little bit of ice cream heaven.

It is visible from Crawfordsville Road and next door to Crew Car Wash. There are two entrances, one if you're going West on Crawfordsville Road is Founders Square Drive and the other turn west at the first light at High School Road and 25th Street by Valvoline Oil Change. Then just follow the street till you see the store. Aldi's street address is Founders Square Drive. You'll find a large parking lot with handicapped parking spaces close to entrance. I like Aldis for their prices, which are cheaper than Kroger on a fairly consistent basis on fresh produce, snack foods, bread, and many frozen items. The fruit is fresh and cheaper than most stores. My favorite that keeps me coming back is the carmels they carry in the candy section. The products aren't brand names, so you have to just give things a chance. I'm not a big fan of the meats, but I do find myself purchasing chicken, milk, and several of the frozen meals and veggies, fruits, and vegetables. The frozen NY Style Cheesecake is one of my son's favorite. I enjoy browsing the home goods aisle and household essentials (Tide Pods and Downy Fabric Softener), kitchen items, home decor (under bed storage bins), and outdoor decor items. You never know what you'll find. The wine reviews are excellent on several brands and affordable. I haven't personally tried the wines yet, but several folks gave me their personal approval of wines they had purchased. Stop in and check them out.
