the 716 sandwich

I wasn't totally impressed. They have great options and a lot of them but I do think their sandwiches are a bit overpriced considering the size. I was expecting a bigger role but it seemed between the size of a slider and a burger. They used to not be great with allergies (nuts in the front of the cases) so I haven't had their baked goods in a while. The workers seemed really nice and were helpful.

The best pastry I've ever had.

I was driving in the area and a very large, bright blue sign caught my eye that said "GELATO!". It was 90 degrees today so naturally I had to stop to get some! My fat, pregnant heart was broken when I walked in and asked about their flavors and they told me they actually don't have any gelato. But but but you have a sign... I bought a pastry instead. One of those home-made toaster strudel things with the strawberry and cream cheese filling... And it will go down in history as the best pastry I've ever eaten. I also got a pastry heart with buttercream and that was equally as delicious. $3 per pastry is a little steep for my wallet but whenever I'm in the need to curb my sweet tooth, I would go back. Just get rid of that darn Gelato sign!

Contemporary style adorable family ran bakery/ cafe located in the heart of Alden. My mom and I decided to take a ride to check out this cute, warm, cozy cafe. This used to be an old deli that was converted, and recently opened this past July during the pandemic. The cafe is clean, staff is welcoming and appreciative for your business. They even offer vegan, gluten free options, everything homemade : soups, salads, artisan sandwiches, baked goods, latte, iced drinks, expresso, Gelato. Something for everyone's taste buds. Local businesses are vitally important during covid pandemic. The owner even came up with a pay it forward board. My mom & I both took part; what a rewarding creative, thoughtful idea.

This little cafe is so cute and I wish I lived close by to walk here everyday! They had a lot of baked goods to choose from, the breakfast sandwiches were delicious and the staff was very friendly. They had hot beverages but also smoothies which was a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend this to any locals if you are in the mood for a sweet treat!

Meatball sliders

Stopped in here on a chilly Sunday afternoon. Pastries were 2 for $5 which I though was an awesome deal considering how huge their snickerdoodles and cinnamon buns are! I got the pumpkin pancakes and the Mummy Latte - both were pretty sweet for my taste but delicious. My friend enjoyed the meatball sliders - she commented that they were juicy and flavorful. Very cute place to stop and reasonable prices. Blueberry scone is a MUST!

The sign in front, very cute logo

This restaurant could be in Manhattan or downtown Chicago it reminds me of the little bistros you would find on the side streets in the city not in a little town like Alden. I was blown away by the quality of the food and quite frankly the whole atmosphere of the place I highly recommend

The Vegan Outskirt; they also veganized their sausage hoagie special for my mom!! Delicious

It has become an annual ritual to visit Cartwright's Maple Tree Inn. Every year, we look forward to…read morethe scenic drive along the wooded backroads of Angelica, NY. You know you're close when your phone goes into SOS mode and you fully commit to pancakes & maple syrup as a survival plan! I learned something new on this visit. We were initially shown to a table, but since only 3 of our 4 party members had arrived, we were asked to return to the lobby until everyone was present. The server assured us that once our fourth arrived, we'd be seated with the next available table, and that's exactly what happened. It gave us a few extra moments to watch pancakes methodically and continuously be poured, flipped and served from the griddle. We had the chance to sit in the original dining room, which features beautiful hand-painted murals. The booth cushions are well worn from years of use, adding to the charm and nostalgia of the space. The room itself felt bright, warm, and inviting. Service from Michelle was prompt and friendly, even with the steady pace of the restaurant. We ordered three AYCE pancake and sausage plates, coffees, a kids' pancake, and a maple milkshake. Pro tip: skip sugar and add maple syrup to your coffee. Trust me! Whether you're visiting with a few family members or bringing a large group, the Maple Tree Inn is a place full of memories, tradition, and perfectly maple-infused breakfasts. Remember to bring along cash or a check since digital payment is not an option. And mark your calendar for next season because they are only open for 2 months each year between February through April, while the sap is flowing. Looking forward to their 65th season next year in 2027!

During Canada Day, Fort George has a BBQ (hamburgers and hotdogs), live music, canon performance and fireworks. This location is ideal if you want some freedom to rest / go elsewhere throughout the day. Only a 6 min walk or so from Fort George. Room: A bit dated but if you are just staying one night it's fine. I wasn't in the room much. However, traditional rooms face parking lot so I recommend asking for 3rd floor. It is a bit dark but more privacy on a higher floor. Also I think room could have been cleaner, there was a lot of dust collected by the windows. Service: Staff at hotel are quite nice and during Canada Day, they served sangria in the lobby and had some cute Canada Day sparklers, stickers, a small candy bar, etc. They also text you asking if you need anything and rate your experience with them. Amenities: On the Basement level, open 7:00am-10:30pm there is an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and gym available. By the elevators they also provided a tea/coffee bar. I went right at 7am and no one was there, nice and quiet so you have it to yourself. Another service they have is a shuttle. You can request it to take you to fort york, into the town, and other areas but it's close to a lot of places so we never ended up using this service. Overall, not a bad stay and I wouldn't mind coming back if this location was near some activities I wanted to check out like Canada Day. If just coming for a regular stay/ anniversary/ celebration - I would lean towards like deluxe rooms and above. For instance, deluxe rooms face the marina with lots of sun but only has king beds.
