Tom I have been a customer for 15 years. I am from SanDiego Ca. Of course I was searching for a decent Mexican food restaurant when I first got here. I am a Chef. Most important is the flavor of the food. Not necessarily the authenticity. Aldacos has always been flavorful and satisfies my Mexican craving . The service, on the other hand has not always been up to par. But that is the restaurant business...don't confuse good food and bad service. If I were paying 50.00 per plate I would absolutely complain if the service was bad. Bad service can ruin your meal. I don't think any body goes to Aldocos for great service. Go there for a good Mexican meal. You will be satisfied. read more

I thought the service was great and our waitress was awesome, and the food was pretty good, but it was a bit disappointing to see that the taco bar is now a catering only situation, at least on the lunch menu. I understand the world has definitely changed and things have gotten very expensive, and I also understand that if the volume of diners doesn't justify that expense than it shouldn't happen, but it seems like the "taco bar" part shouldn't be on the sign anymore if that's the case. That being said, our waitress did go the extra mile and I have absolutely no complaints with the service or the food I did order- it was great. read more

We stopped here for a quick group lunch. Many people in the group picked the buffet for their lunch . It was reasonably priced and had a decent amount of food. I selected 3 tacos. They were good. Service was ok. They needed one more server. We will likely stop back. Tons of room read more

Aldacos Taco Bar - three tacoss on a plate - Mexican Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

I ordered the buffet on a Sunday. Didn't know it was $17. All of the food was cold. The enchilladads had nothing inside. Good thing I didn't order a $3 fountain soda. Wish Ramon's was back. Oh and never refilled the tortillas. read more

Aldacos Taco Bar - a plate of mexican food - Mexican Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

Tacos here are horrible they do not have Asada tacos nor do they have cilantro please find another place

Service was good but that was likely because no one was there. Menu has been really paired down. Don't offer the lunch buffet anymore either which is why I'm guessing it was really slow at noon on Friday when we went. read more

Aldaco's is always legit Mexican food. It's family owned and wonderful people. Proud to call this my staple place to eat Mexican over ElAzzzzzzzteco in Lansing. Come hungry, leave stuffed.. #SOUTHLANSING read more

Not good. Booth was dirty, including a half dead fly on the table. I ordered steak fajitas; steak was fatty and chewy, beans and rice were mediocre, tortillas were starting to harden, came with lemons not limes, and every bite had its own interesting flavor... Salsa tasted like marinara sauce. Plus, the fajitas were pricey $13 and they were a smaller portion that most other Mexican joints. My fiancé got the $10.50 buffet, not the priciest, but not the cheapest price. He said everything offered was just 'meh'.... This place doesn't sell liquor, so don't come here for a margarita!! Mediocre food, no booze, much pricier than other Mexican restaurants. read more

The best tacos in the whole world. I have traveled near and far and I promise. Real authentic amazing ness!!!!!!!!

Don't go on the weekend for lunch, 12.95 for an adult buffet very few options. Salsa tasted watered down, no thrills buffet. It was a learning experience. I won't be going back. read more

Food-Eh Customer Service-Horrible Environment- Kinda gross LOL. this place is a joke. My cousins and I went to Aldacos today and the waiter was rude. No introduction, no directions, and we had no idea what to do. The lady who was serving us looked completely lost. 1/10 do not recommend. read more

If you want no frills Mexican, here it is. It's cheap, they've got a bangin' buffet, and the food has just the amount of grease in it to qualify as real Mexican, but not enough to make you puke. The only downside to Juve Aldaco's Mexican cusine haven is that you can't get a Dos Equis with your meal. That's right, no EtOH for you drunkies. But otherwise, the food is great and the service is basic, but good, nonetheless. I started frequenting Aldaco's about 6 years ago and every time I took someone else there to eat, they were hooked. We call it "crack tacos" because we're convinced that they lace the refried beans with cocaine or something. My recommended meal? The chicken enchiladas or your plain ol' taco plate (#14). If you're feeling a little diet-ish, go with the taco mush and ixnay on the flour shell it's served in. All in all, you'll leave Aldaco's stuffed and happy. Ole. read more

Every time we visit Lansing, we make it a point to check into this delicious little spot. The food is authentic and not overly complex. Part of the attraction for us is the all-you-can-eat buffet, which is chock full of well prepared Mexican favorites. The salsa is robust, the meats are flavorful, and the specialty dishes are all crafted to perfection. A Mexican buffet is a great way to nurse a hangover too! The space is slightly dated and the staff is occasionally too busy to keep up with your table, but overall it works. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could.... It not just my experience here, this is the quality of service one would expect to receive here... Like most other people stated, they focus on the buffet here... When I went it was breakfast in the buffet. But not Mexican breakfast, They had American breakfast complete with French toast sticks and biscuits and gravy. (Rock hard biscuits, literally Inedible) I went to this Mexican joint expecting Mexican. So I dug through the SIX page menu.... No children's menu, very long, felt like going crazy reading so many entrees. I kept seeing the words "gravy"... I'm like what Mexicans use gravy... What is this nonsense... I ignored it. Kept looking for what makes authentic Mexican, AUTHENTIC MEXICAN and they didn't have it!! They have some whack gravy in substitution of it!! Ladies and gentlemen, they have NO green chili at this Mexican joint!! I'm mindblown!! As in, you go to eat off their six page menu, and there is NO GREEN CHILI for any of their items!! But plenty of American food.... Terrible quality American food at that. Would never recommend going there!! read more

Two words: Mexican. Buffet. Aldaco's has buffet all the time and they also have a menu. On Sunday's they have an even mas grande buffet. They serve Menudo so if you have a hang over- head on in to Aldaco's. They make their own tortillas and everything is really fresh. It is a busy place, but large so they can accommodate the crowds. Head on over here when you are really hungry and fill up! read more

Lunch buffet on a Saturday + small side of guac, no drink (I like water), including tip came to $16. The food selection was rather bland, imho. The hot sauce was at the buffet (not the table) and I'm PRETTY sure it's Frank's Red Hot). The pork on the buffet was by far the best of the alternatives. With Cancun as a "similar product alternative" with their lunch specials at half the cost, I probably won't be back. Check out my other reviews; I'm generally very positive. read more

Why haven't there been more recent reviews, probably because no one comes here anymore. With Los Tres up the street they are no longer the only game on the Southside. The food is really not that bad, but the combination of so so service, outdated decor and a dirty interior doesn't draw you in. I always wonder if owners of failing restaurants like this ever watch Kitchen Nightmares or Restaurant Impossible for tips. It does not appear so. If they did, they might decide to lose the prize games in the entrance or the tacky blowup chili peppers. The hub of this restaurant is the buffet. Not bad as Mexican buffets go, but the pricing scheme has always puzzled me, and no doubt turned some off. There are different prices for nearly every night of the week. Apparently this is due to different offerings, but it does nothing but cause confusion. They should have a weekend price and a weekday price and be done with it. As another reviewer described, the salsa appears to be chopped stewed tomatoes with raw onion. If there is a spice or piece of cilantro, it is hard to detect. The "hot" has a little more to offer, and the best bet is to mix them. Its sad to say, but this place has really gone down hill. Not sure I will be coming back. read more

FOOD (4 out of 5): Not too shabby... The homemade tortillas are good, but can probably be on another level if they would just serve them fresh and hot. It hurts me that there is so much unrealized potential there... For those who are familiar, my point of reference is Nena's in Stockton, California. As for the authenticity and flavor, the only standout is the Caldo de Res (Mexican Beef Soup). The use some good cuts of rib meat in the soup. As for real-deal, greasy food-- Hungry Man burrito fits the bill. It is everything you could ever want for breakfast, rolled into a tortilla. The salsa is good and fresh, but not life-altering. DECOR (3 out of 5): Looks like this place used to be a Chinese buffet, but they've done their best to decorate the place. SERVICE (4 out of 5) This place gets busy during lunch, so it doesn't have the fastest service, but they definitely make it up in friendliness... read more

We were on vacation and looking for a place to eat. There were 3 mexican restaurants within a half mile. This place's parking lot was the most full of the 3, so we went here. Decor: Old & outdated. But, it was clean, and things were not in a state of disrepair. Service: meh. Our waitress was pleasant, I suppose. Our food took 25 minutes to get served to us. Food: The chips were G-R-E-A-S-Y! The "salsa" was canned stewed tomatoes, rough chopped, with some fresh onions, rough chopped and added in. I think a little dried oregeno was sprinkled in as well. That's truly it. Not good at all. When we finally got our meals, I wished they would have served it to us 15 minutes earlier, it might have tasted better. My husband got something basic like a taco and a tostada. The refried beans were dried out. I ordered a breakfast omelet with green peppers, cheese, and bacon. What I got was an omelet that was completely brown on the outside from overcooking, with cheese and green peppers - no bacon. In all fairness, we opted to sit down and order based on the quality of the mexican buffet we saw. It looked like it was absolutely better than Taco Bell. Apparently they put all their focus on the buffet, adn the rest of the food suffered. I will never go back. read more

This is really good Mexican food the service is nice and fast a little pricey but overall really good

Food was...OK. Lots of grease, not very much flavor and overall, just not as vibrant as their local competitors. Decor was sad, especially for a Mexican place, and the staff was friendly, but service was haphazard. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially when there are better choices in the Lansing area. The chips and housemade tortillas were particularly good, however. read more

We walked in and immediately walked out. We went down the road to Los Tres. I wouldn't risk it at aldacos, looked terrible!

Great food but the staff is running this place into the ground. The most disgustingly lazy employees I have ever seen. They never smile, they don't greet you, they barely even stand up. I stopped dinning inside because of this and they recently took 15 minutes to get my to-go order and it was sitting in the window the entire time. Three people passed me without saying a word and the person who finally took my money had been sitting at a table watching me stand there. Never said a word. So that will be the last time, I won't be coming back. read more

Got the buffet. Very good food. Problem is they never refilled the nacho cheese the entire time we were there. Then they ran out of shredded cheese and didn't replenish that. Need to do a better job of attending to the buffet so things don't run out. Kind of pricey too, IMO. $10 for dinner buffet. read more

Pretty decent food. I've never had the all you can eat Buffett but I've heard about it. I think that they are a bit overpriced for what you get. read more

Amazing Authentic Mexican food. My family and I have been going here for years and it has consistently been great food, simple ambiance, and always a stop on my list when I am visiting home. read more

I think most people who have commented on this place must not have had good authentic mexican food! Aldaco's is very greasy and in most cases the food on the buffet is NOT hot enough! I rated them 2 stars because there are a couple of good dishes on the menu. The wait staff really needs to learn some manners at this joint! They are NOT friendly in the least. They seem to spend most of their time visiting with one another. I asked for a refill of my coffee 3x and left never having got the second cup. I eat homemade tortilla's at home almost every day, don't pay for what they call homemade. They simply are not! No respecting mexican chef makes their tortillas so thin and with so much shortening. Any way, if you eat here order from the menu you will be much for satisfied than with the buffet!! read more

Fajita Fridays is the best time to go! They have delicious shrimp and steak etc...on the buffet!

Being allergic to red and green bell pepper, may have ruined my experience here. I wanted the Roast Beef Wet Burrito, but it had green pepper in it - as did the rice, so I had to pass on that as well and got double refried beans as a replacement. Starting with the chips & salsa - chips were very hard & I could hardly eat them, but the salsa was good -- without green peppers. Ending up ordering the small ground beef wet burrito, the texture was good ( I'm a texture freak ), but almost flavorless as were the beans. I kept looking for the waitress so I could get some hot sauce, but ended up pouring the salsa over everything. Will I go back? Maybe -- IF I don't find any where better. Taco Bell tastes better, but I don't like the texture of their tacos, etc.. read more

Really disappointed. Used to love the food here, particularly the buffet. Not tonight. The cheese enchiladas had no cheese! Main problem was the ambiance. Not busy but had to wait for a waitress: this was unusual. There were several--about 8--dirty tables. Finally, after having been here 1/2 hour, staff started cleaning tables. read more

I went Tuesday morning & got 2 breakfast tacos for $5 & some change service was great & food was great. I went the following day which was Wednesday the service was horrible. They charged me $20 for four breakfast tacos that I got the following day for $2 & some change. I asked the cashier why was it so much & why was the prices different from the day before she told me "everyone runs the cashier differently". The food was horrible & it made me sick. read more

Authentic Mexican food. That is delicious! I have been going here for decades, I have never had a problem with the food or the service. Very nice people! read more

Awful food. Beans were sour. Several items never got refilled on the buffet. The beef was grizzle, Staff was very nice though.

Good, quick Mexican food. If you have a big appetite for Mexican food then I would suggest you dine in and get the buffet. Lots a food...

DO NOT USE CREDIT CARDS HERE, THEY STEAL!!! My boyfriend and I went in to eat and a couple weeks later we both noticed our checking accounts were slightly off so we looked up our charges and compared them with our receipts. For both of our bills they added an extra $15-20 for a tip! We called them to ask what was going on and they hung up on us. Besides the theft, their food was below average and service was atrocious. read more

Just had lunch there. Food was ok but the service is terrible. We didn't get chips and salsa right away until I asked for them. Then what she brought out was a bowl of crushed up chips. Don't waste your time here. Los 3 Amigos is much better and it's right up the road. read more

When opened this place rocked, but since their success has gone to their head. Bad quality, had to wait for tortillas to be made, my "fresh" tortilla shells were sticking together so the busboy was walking by and he grabbed the shells and separated them with his bare hands. I will go back in a year or so to See if they reevaluate Themselves and their policies and practices read more

Food is decent. It's buffet style and they are constantly working hard to restock. Well one person seems to be working hard while the wait staff seems to watch the poor guy work. The wait staff seems a little lazy and some are not very friendly. It's not that they are rude, but they don't have any enthusiasm and seem a little lack luster. What bothered me the most is when I watched the bus boy running around as I was on my way out the wait staff was sitting in the front taking, not helping at all. I believe in team work, so that didn't sit right with me. read more

Went there last night. Just plain bad... The buffet was empty except for beans and rice and stuff for nachos. They had hard shells but nothing else. For the price of the buffet, it should be fully stocked. They used to have a great dessert and fruit bar - not no more. Had to wait 10 minutes until someone came to the front to be seated. Once seated it was almost another 10 minutes before someone took our drink order. It seemed like Noone cared. I always had a great meal when they were at the other location but totally disappointed now. read more

The food here is delicious. Had the buffet on a Sunday night and there are plenty of choices. Roasted beef is my favorite on a soft shell but shredded chicken, pork, ground beef and at red meat also on the buffet. Enchiladas were also yummy. Everything we tried was good. Sodas are included in the price. The only negative I have is that the place could use a good cleaning, ie around the booth window ledges were dirty. read more
