If you place an order via phone call, make sure you ask for a total. The prices on the website 'menu' are not accurate. I'm not talking about the 'online ordering' menu...the website itself. https://www.jalapenostogo.net/menu#taco-kits The 12 Taco Kit is currently $45 base price, while the website states $37. Honestly, I thought $37 was too good to be true. I have no complaint, just wanted y'all to be aware. read more

Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurante - shows the price on website of $37, however the price has since been increased to $45 - Mexican Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

Saw a lot of people coming to Jalapeños so I thought I'd give it a try and was pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. I wouldn't say this is authentic Mexican food but it was still good read more

Truly an americanized version of mexican food. But, nevertheless a good subsitute for the real thing. Food is pretty good for the most part. Definately always fresh and served hot. Food preparation area looks very clean. Dining area not so much. Hours are horrible, closes by 3:00 PM everyday and no weekend hours whatsoever. And for the life of me, I can't understand why after all of these years, the restaurant shuts down during the Christmas holidays, spring break and fourth of July week. One would think by now that they would have an adequate number of staff people in place to keep the restaurant going during those times. read more

Yum! Fast, affordable, and delicious! I really enjoyed me enchiladas and the portion size was HUGE. More than enough there for two meals. I'm excited to head back and try a couple other things on the menu. There were more than a few options that looked good. I'd avoid heading in at peak lunch time. You might have a difficult time finding a seat. read more

Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurante - Enchiladas! - Mexican Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

Is more Tex-Mex than Mexican... so not really Mexican at all, big disappointment and not many food options before 11 (so, even if it's open, not a good idea to go)... should've guessed, when the name is Jalapeno instead of Jalapeño. And FYI probably by breakfast nachos, you mean chilaquiles? read more

Excellent food and efficient service. Would highly recommend eating there. All the food is delicious.

Yo I feel really bad for a community to continue to buy Mexican food that does not show what real authentic Mexican or Tex-mex food is .downtown workers that allow this place to serve that food is messed up. It lets you know that type of people work downtown aka Taco Bell is better read more

At 8:30am this place is BUSY. This doesn't bother me. I wanted to try a breakfast burrito but did not want eggs. I substituted beans fit the eggs and added mushrooms. I had it placed on the griddle and it was served with their fresh salsa. The burrito was large, filling, and very good. I can see this becoming a regular breakfast stop. Trust. read more

I have to start by saying I only go to Jalapenos for breakfast, but I go almost every day. And, because of that, I almost never eat lunch (only if I miss my morning run to Jalapeno's). As a non-egg eater, Jalapeno's is one of the few places that I don't feel cheated ordering an item that typically comes with eggs. Most places just leave off the eggs. A few places will let you order something in place of the eggs (but VERY few). This place loads up my breakfast burrio with everything else so that my tortilla is just as full of goodness as everyone else's. I'm a big fan of their hot salsa and the refillable cups, but I love the little bambino fruit pies for the days I want a little something sweet to counter the spicy hot salsa. read more

Stopped by for a breakfast burrito, Great food ! Good size for the money. This place has really werid hours though, I've stopped by and they have been closed a few times. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot downtown. They are open during the week for breakfast and lunch. I wish they were open in the evening and on weekends. I haven't had their breakfast but I have heard it is really good. They do get busy at lunch, but if you go between 11 and 11:30 there is not really a wait. Even if you walk in and the line is all the way to the back, they are very efficient and you will wait much less than you think. The tables do fill up, but clear out quickly. In the summer they have tables on the sidewalk, or you can get it to go and eat on a bench on the street. My favorite dish is the chicken nachos. These are hands down the best I've had in the Lansing area. The half order is plenty for lunch and I'm not a skimpy eater. They are reasonably fast and the food is always fresh. The order taker girl is nice and so is the cashier, watch out for the girl manning the nacho oven- Frown Town USA!!! I miss this place since I don't work downtown anymore!! read more

I am a fan of Jalepeno's and would echo the sentiments of all the reviews to-date; namely, the lines are long, but move quickly through the lunch hour & wish it was open later than 3 pm. That being said, I recommend going on Tuesday when the daily special is Tamales. So good, generous portion, with beans, rice, and handful of chips. Friendly staff that always seems to appreciate my business is another reason I like to spend my money here. read more

Good quick food. Fair price and worth the wait. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Close at 3 pm. If I am back in the area , I will certainly go back. Staff was great. A little tight to sit but manageable. read more

Great place for Mexican food at a great price! Lunch combo and a drink for $10-11! A lot of people complain that this isn't "Mexican" food - it's "Tex-Mex." I got news for you - 95% of the "Mexican" restaurants in this country are "Tex-Mex"! read more

Best place in town! Fresh and Delicious! People are warm, friendly and always quick. Can't think of a better place downtown for breakfast or lunch. read more

Good food & satisfied my yearning for some Mexican fare. Not exactly California- or Texas- level stuff, but good nonetheless. Huge portions if you get the rice & beans option. Must be bulking these guys up for winter! read more

Love this place! Bacon breakfast burrito is the best. Usually go for the special during the week and food is tasty and reasonably priced. The mild salsa is just right and enhances what you are having for breakfast or lunch. All staff are friendly and warm- a great place downtown to dine in or take out. read more

I found a rock in my santa fe salad today. (i'm a frequent customer). I called the restaurant back to let them know about this and the owner acted like it wasn't a big deal, refused to apologize and tried to gaslight me by telling me that this happens all the time and that "well beans are grown in the ground." Completely unprofessional. I will not be returning. read more

Update, Spring 2018. I've ordered twice recently. Both times, bacon breakfast burritos. Both times, I've gotten half-way through the burrito before finding even one crumb of bacon. They used to have big pieces of bacon in there, and it was chock-full of meat from one end to the other. Now it's barely there at all, scant, and minced to death. You can hardly tell what it is. Very disappointing. Food still tastes good, but come on. read more

I come here all the time for lunch. It's usually pretty busy during lunch the lunch hours but the wait is not bad at all. The staff is very friendly and the food isn't bad either. I usually get the enchilada armor but macho nachos are also a good choice and with large portions. I would definitely recommend this place for a friend if they want Mexican for lunch. read more

All of the food is good. I went for a breakfast burrito. Best in town. It was their tamale special for lunch which is another winner. And their nachos are sublime read more

My friend found a rock in her salad and the owner made excuses for it. Super rude.

Finally gave this place a shot and grabbed a vegetarian breakfast burrito. Cheap and yummy. Standard quality ingredients, nothing to drool over. It was kind of busy this morning and the service was still super speedy. I appreciate this place's existence in downtown Lansing. Note that they are only open until 3pm M-F. read more

Every week I get a breakfast burrito (or 3) from Jalapenos and im ADDICTED. I order a sausage burrito add tomatoes and jalapeños and its to die for. I usually call in to order before I walk down, it helps to avoid the lines on work days for sure. read more

Jalapeno's is probably my favorite thing about working downtown. Their food is fantastic, and the staff is always quick and efficient. And I love that I can make changes or adjustments to an order and they're always willing to accommodate. I love both their breakfast and their lunch. Only complaint - their lunch delivery service is limited, so you have to call and place your order super early to get a spot! read more

This place is been here for years is long as I can remember and I absolutely love it the nachos are good their tacos are amazing I just wish I didn't live so far away so I could eat it every day never can get sick of Mexican food read more

Very very stingy. Wrong order, or don't like what you get, they are not nice at all about it. Want extra chips on your salad? Yeah, right. Even though there are 3 things you don't get on it. Have overheard owner on the phone to customers and very rude. They don't seem to worry about losing customers, tho. Apparently they have plenty! read more

The breakfast burritos are hard to beat. They should serve them all day!

This place was a complete bust. A coworker and I stopped in to grab lunch. The price was on par with most of the other Mexican restaurants in town. The food quality though - might as well have gone to Taco Bell. Chips were stale, the tacos were super small, and the beans tasted like they had been sitting for hours. For the same price at Los Tres Amigos your food looks, and tastes better. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. There is a Los Tres Amigos near by that you will get better food at. read more

Fast to go service for a sit down. Surprisingly affordable. I paid less than $4 for a fresh burrito on a 12 inch tortilla. I frequent alot of mexican restaurants. With that said. Good food. Guac average. Salsa ok. Kind of soupy. I had the breakfast menu. The whole place smelled good. Would have rated higher but Gotye was playing in the background. Best breakfast burritos in Lansing. Eat one and say goodbye to lunch as you'll not be hungry.

I am seriously unsure how this guy is in business. this was a second attempt at placing an order for a bunch of us. Thought another try was warranted. Again this place would not take credit cards and basically made the order-making process very dissatisfying. Some still placed an order anyway, and the rest of us placed an order with the daily bagel some time after. the daily bagel showed up first. i guess all the positive reviews must only be if you go in-house because jalapenos certainly has not impressed this bunch of folks. read more

Food and service has always been hit or miss. Today I ate at the restaurant and asked for chips and salsa to go. I assumed there would be a fee but they wanted to charge me $8.50 for a bag of chips and salsa. That is more than my meal which consisted of chips, salsa, enchilada, rice, beans, and a pop. So I asked if I could get a refill at the table which they have ALWAYS done in the past. They refused. Love their salsa but not worth going back with the service I have received today and in the past, as well as the food is sometimes good and sometimes not so good. read more
