Service was friendly but they sat us right in front of the entrance even though there were plenty of open tables- there only two other parties there. Food was ok not great flavor-wise. I had enchiladas & it came out super fast but as I ate, I realized it was cold inside (as in, pre-plated and heated before serving but not long enough). Would have been happy to wait longer for properly cooked food but as it was, my kids were getting antsy so we didn't ask to have it redone. Also, had digestive issues next few days which I suspect were from that meal. I'm sure there must be better Mexican food somewhere else in Lansing. read more

3.9 stars just isn't right. This place is 4.5 easy. I've eaten a bunch of Mexican food in my years on earth even some in Mexico but let me tell you none have come close to this. Hands down the best chili relleno I have ever eaten. As if that weren't all the refried beans were a 10. I'm not a big desert guy but I got Flan since it is made fresh daily and it was amazing. Personally I thought the waiter was rude, I told him I don't speak Spanish and he continued to speak to me in Spanish anyways. I know I'm brown, Im Guatemalan but I'm adopted. I don't know anything about my culture or language. So I felt uncomfortable. My friend ordered 5 tacos and he got 4, he eventually brought his last one out. I ordered a Bahama mama and it was iced down pretty badly, I'm small and have a low alcohol tolerance but even then I felt like I was drinking watered down orange juice. I ordered a fajita quesadilla and it was pretty sad, I HAVE HAD WAY BETTER. My total was $22 and it wasn't worth it. They barely put any cheese, the slice of the vegetables were poor, they put way too much where the portion was not fitting to the actual size of the quesadilla it's self. One of the most authentic and delicious Mexican meals we have had in a long time. Rivals some restaurants in Mexican Town Detroit. We are from California and have eaten great Mexican there and in Mexico. So we come at this with a very critical position. I had the California burrito and was delighted. My wife has the chimichanga lunch. We both asked for the cheese sauce on the side, which was a great addition as some queso for dipping our chips! (Pro tip!). The California burrito was simple and awesome with chorizo, chicken and beef with outstanding rice on the side. It was simple, which was even better. I was able to add the cheese as I liked and also the salsa. Let's talk salsa, the standard salsa and chips are very good. Hot chips that seemed fresh. And a lime flavor to the salsa which is always a plus. ASK for the hot salsa, which is spicy and has a great roasted pepper flavor. My wife's chimichanga was chicken which was smoked. The food is soooo good. The frijoles some of the best I've had. The warm chips and salsa reminded me of the Bay Area. We couldn't stop eating them. The guac is better than Taco Deli!! Needed to order a serving for each person since I could've eaten one serving for myself. We enjoyed the place so much we went twice. Friends told me, which live in the area, it's their favorite place. One of my friends in-laws are from Guatemala. The always ask to go here and the grandma from Guatemala loves it too. Probably the best of the Cancun locations in the Lansing area. The menu was recently redone with a lot of new options added. If you've hit up other Mexican restaurants in the Michigan area, you'll like some of these additions. Most everything is flour tortillas unless you ask for corn, which they may still even screw up, as 99% of the gringos prefer flour. A few of my standbys are: California burrito, pineapple fajitas, or Ismael Special. It's hard to go wrong with any of the selections and you'll find something you'll like for sure! read more

Yes you Can-cun! Had a hankering for a visit to our friendly neighbor south of the border but didn't feel like scaling the fence so we went to Cancun Mexican Grill instead. The service and attention from the staff was amazing. Everybody we interacted with was incredible friendly and helpful. We started out with the usual addictive chips and fresh-tasting salsa. My companions both ordered the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail which turned out to be a fish bowl filled with slightly sweet tomato juice, avocado and tons of shrimp. It was enough to feed a family and delicious, if a little on the sweet side for me. I ordered the beef taco, chile relleno combination which came with guacamole and refried beans. And they bring out the addictive chips and salsa within seconds. (God, I miss America sometimes. Good luck getting salsa this good in the UK, and certainly not provided free at a restaurant! But I digress). I am often disappointed with shrimp dishes; it's just too easy to overcook. But they nail it here - juicy shrimp, smoky sauteed veg, and the usual (admittedly fairly dull) fixings of rice, beans, lettuce and sour cream.
