Got in touch with Alchemist, they were able to quickly diagnose the issues I was having. Originally, I thought it was just a leak in the chlorinator, but it turned out to be much worse. The leak had caused the sand under the equipment pad to shift and put strain on the pipes. Creating cracks in some of them and the fittings. They were able to quickly get me on the schedule, work out a very fair estimate and got my equipment fixed today. It looks great! Definitely recommend! read more

Jeremiah came to inspect my pool motor and claimed that water had gotten into it, which caused my warranty company to deny coverage and try to charge me $900 for replacement. I asked for a second opinion, and the new pool company fixed the motor right away -- they confirmed there was no water damage at all. When I called and spoke to the owner to ask how they determined there was water in the motor, they kept saying it was an assumption -- yet their assumption was going to cost me $900! They closed the claim without notifying me, and I ended up waiting three weeks without a working pool. Because of the delay, I now have to replace the pool water too. This company wasted my time and money, and their poor communication and false assumptions created a huge inconvenience. I strongly recommend staying away from them. read more

We were referred to Alchemist Pool Service via AHS home warranty. While we were very happy to be connected with Alchemist and (Jeremiah and Carl) in particular, we were most unhappy with AHS but I'll get to that later. Jeremiah came out and looked at our system. Our request was that he remove the remote controls (AKA 'media system') so we could operate our water feature, spa blower, pool lighting and to determine if our pool heater was shutting off because it was not getting any feedback through the media system or was it something else. Jeremiah told us up front that AHS wouldn't cover anything while that ancient media system was still in our box. When I double-checked with AHS they confirmed that is their policy. My issue with AHS (not Alchemist) is that nowhere in their 'customer-facing' list of exclusions do they mention a 'media system'. AHS has agreed to refund my $100 service call fee as I would not have scheduled an inspection through them in the first place if that exclusion was listed, I would have just hired a company on my own. What Jeremiah did was to remove the media center and per our request put all the components on manual toggle switches. This part of the job cost next to nothing. Upon further inspection with the spa drained, Jeremiah saw that there was a leak in the spa lamp. We knew the switch to that light had power but would trip the GFCI when trying to turn it on. The new LED lamp is attached to the power cable at the factory so the housing is completely waterproof. We already knew that AHS doesn't cover any underground components (clearly stated in the contract unlike the media center BS) and asked Alchemist for a bid on the light fixture and labor. Again, well within reason seeing as it took 2 trips. The second trip was only necessary because we needed to see if there was some way to address the leak and a stubborn clog in the conduit that prevented them from feeding the new cable through. On the second trip, they flushed out the conduit. There were roots, small rocks and mud inside it. Once that was cleared and the new lighting fixture was 90% installed, they had to seal the back end with silicon. I waited about 4 days before refilling the spa to make sure everything was dry. Clay had also contacted a leak detection company (no charge to us) to see if they could put a camera through to see what was going on. That company said, doubtful without jack hammering through the deck. Before Jeremiah and Clay left they opened the heater and retrieved the error code from its control panel as to why it was shutting off, which now we know was independent of the media center. Now with those issues addressed, the only reason Jeremiah came today (29 Dec) was this heater issue was covered by AHS but we had to allow for the holiday break. I know this review is longer than most but wanted you to see how thorough was the attention to details, no hidden up charges and no double-labor charge on the visits where is took two people to remove and feed the spa light cable. Alchemist is my go-to for any future pool repairs, whetehr AHS covers it or not. read more

However, we decided to have Alchemist resolve the problem. Scheduling was prompt. Mike was able to diagnosis the problem in a short amount of time. A second trip was necessary since he did not have the required equipment. On the second visit the problem was fixed very quickly. read more

Like so many others here, this company sent Jeremiah out for a home warranty inspection and after 1-2 minutes decided that it was NOT from normal wear and tear, despite being an old pool pump. Once we noticed the problem, we turned off the system, but apparently that wasn't enough. No option to repair, and Jeremiah wouldn't even respond to texts for further discussion. Got the stiff arm from AHS as well and will be canceling contract presently. read more

Absolutely terrible rude contractor, overpriced estimate with inaccurate information. My partner is a master electrician and the guy ( Jeremiah?) was obviously upset when he questioned his evaluation as it was ridiculous. Was told not to touch our pool valves , if needed to touch to ask us in order to do correctly,, but he did anyways and when we came home our hot tub was drained and spraying water everywhere leaving it open to sun damage. But when the time comes to pay, and I need a job done honestly and correctly; knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy are what I value. Alchemist has delivered in those areas every time they show up to my home. When their employees step in, they make me feel like it's someone I know; someone relatable and familiar. Jeremiah, one of their technicians, has been to my place twice in the last year, and both times, I've felt reassured that he wasn't simply trying to make a buck off me. He presented kindness, exceptional knowledge, and a demeanor that made me feel I wasn't being handled for cash, but rather as a respected customer. I am someone who compares and contrasts; especially when my warranty company dictates who I can and cannot work with for issues. Pool owners run away!!! My home warranty sent this company to my home. This is a very incompetent company particularly Jeremiah who came to my home to diagnose a filtration issue. Whatever he did, he did it incorrectly which caused my pool to drain. This actio costed me over $300 to my water bill to refill it then at the end he had the audacity to send me a message after he denied all of this asking if he left a tool behind. Had an extremely professional repair service worker! He arrived as schedule! He was uniformed in a Clean Attire and scraped his boots on my door mat before entering through my home. He gave the option of going to my back gate. The worker introduced himself as Jeremiah Rains. He went right to work and made adjustments and added some wiring and "VOILA", he was finished. Lazy scammers. Was told that I needed a new heater for $4400, and that the unit was damaged beyond repair due to leaking bad water and chemicals. Got a second opinion: wound up that I needed a new electrical panel and pilot tube total cost $710. There was no leak, the rust was due to rain, and there was no way they could have tested the heater because it wasn't getting any power...like literally they diagnosed the unit and wrote an estimate without being able to turn it on. read more

This service contracts with HSA Home Warranty. I called requesting service on my pool pump last weekend and HSA set me up with Alchemist Pool Service to check it out...they came out on Wednesday. After my pool person told me it was the pump motor, I was pleasantly surprised to get a diagnosis from Nico that it was a capacitor. The pump worked for a day, then quit again. Had Alchemist come out again on a recall on Friday...he (Nico) said it was a switch and it started working again...for a day!!! Soooo, today is the the Saturday before Labor Day with temps this weekend to be in triple digits. Called Alchemist...THEY ARE CLOSED (I assume for the long weekend)!! Called HSA...they simply arranged for another recall, again with Alchemist. The upshot is we enter the long weekend with no hope for help until Tuesday!!! I am not happy with either, as Alchemist had two chances to fix the problem and, apparently, HSA has no emergency contingent plans!! read more

Had this Alchemist pool company come out for a old republic warranty issue. The bottom base of pentair filter tank cracked after years with extreme heat in summer and cold past several winters. I received a response back from old republic that it wasn't going to be covered under warranty because Alchemist reported the pool wasn't maintained and that caused both top and bottom tank to crack and filters were bad and not cleaned or maintained. I notified my pool service of this report as he cleans pool weekly and the filters were also cleaned in mid November 2023. I saw home clean them. Also, I have 2 sets of filters that we rotate. The top of tank is not broken at all. Alchemist report is total fabrication. After calling old republic and having them speak with my pool service company. They asked him for a written inspection and diagnosis. Which he is providing them with and went over the Alchemist report and the significant errors. I don't even know if Alchemist actually looked at my pool to make such a report that was not at all accurate. Steer clear of these con-artists. They just want the copay and then up sale you for things that aren't even broken. Welcome to Vegas scammers all around!!!! read more

My home warranty is carried by AHS but over the last 25+ years I have had many different warranty companies. Anytime I have to place a service call to them, I prepare myself for a battle. After all these years I just assumed that is the way it goes. Today changed my mind! I sadly did not get the name of the Gentleman that came out & serviced my pool. Well it was a simple fix he gave me a few tips on my pool that I had no idea either existed or should/shouldn't be done!! I was somewhat shocked at how pleasant he was & how simple the fix was. This is the best $75 I have ever spent!! I promise to recommend your company in the future, you have a lifelong fan now. AHS assigned us to Alchemist for a motor replacement a couple of days ago, we were put in contact with Jeremiah and he is 10/10. I explained what was happening, he reviewed some pictures and told me what the possible avenues we could take were. He was very informative and knowledgeable. It's unfortunate that sometimes these guys who are contracted with AHS are made to look bad when it's really AHS who deserves the negative review. I was more confused than ever when I spoke with AHS and when I spoke with him he was very clear, these are your three options to fix this, you pick. Give them a fair shot! read more

Contracted Alchemist though My warranty company to fix a leaky pool pipe. Sent video of leaking areas ahead of the appointment. The tech came a week later, spent less than five minutes on the leak, then left. I inspected the repaired pipes and found one of the three affected areas was still leaking. Called the tech right away and requested he come back to fix. Tech claimed he didn't know about the leak in that area of the pipe even though his scheduling department had it a week before. Without coming back to inspect the area in person, he stated it was a turbo valve problem and said it wasn't covered under my warranty, and refused to come back. Subpar work and terrible customer service. Don't use this company. read more

We, probably like you, know nothing about pools. This means that pool companies, like Alchemist can fool you. This company ran our pool vacuum 8 hours a day 7 days a week for months until the circuit blew. Then they would have a reason to charge us to come and fix it. Their filter cleaner costs a couple hundred dollars when you could just take it out yourself and hose it down. Alchemist never suggested to drain the pool and fill it back up. This should be done once a year. If you don't do it, It causes large amounts of solvents to build up over time making you use more chemicals needed to keep the pool clear. I had an honest pool guy take a look and he said that the vacuum only needs to be used for about 4 hours a couple times a week to get what's on the bottom of the pool. The rest of the time you can run the pump without the vacuum. We also needed to drain and refill our pool. We drained the pool ourselves with a pump from Lowe's. We clean our own pool which isn't very hard when you figure out how to do it. If you need to check the PH levels you can get a home testing kit or go to Leslie's Pool Supply to have them test your pool water. We now care for our own pool and don't waste money on these fools. Everything is on YouTube people. Amazon has several of the supplies too. If you don't wanna do it yourself then do some actual research before blindly trusting a company. read more

Worst experience I've had with any home service contractor ever. Took more than 2 weeks from my first call, to the completion of the project. It took Alchemist pool 1 week before they could come and look at it for 5 minutes and say they needed to order a part...My pool was not able to filter during this time so I now have to pay $600 out of pocket to drain, chlorine wash and refill my pool for a part they claimed was "not available locally." So I moved somewhere with a hot tub, which needed work done on it before we closed. Someone from Alchemist "came and fixed the issues" and then we paid to have it reinspected to make sure everything then worked properly. All except 1 thing did, and they claimed it wasn't in the repair request order. It was, I looked. So we move in a few days later and everything is broken again. I call them and they tell me I need to call the home warranty company about it so I do. Multiple times, and was told each time someone from Alchemist would contact me about coming to look at everything. For 2 months nobody did, and I finally FINALLY heard back from them. The lady told me someone would be by Monday between 8-11am, and I got a confirmation text about it. I work nights so this half sucked if they'd get there at 8, but I needed this done so I got up way earlier than usual. Nobody ever showed. Ever. I am now having to pay out of pocket to fix something they "fixed", and using another company who've been nothing but professional. Not fixing things properly, then not contacting me, then not showing up at our scheduled time without a word about it even after the fact?! Extremely unprofessional. We are surprised by any of the bad reviews because we found Alchemist to be professional, quick and very honest! We were experiencing a loud sound coming from our pool equipment and initiated a claim with our home warranty company American Home Shield. Alchemist was extremely responsive from the beginning, and Dahmien quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to rebuild our motor and come back within a couple days to replace. I had a plumber come and they told me I need the pool plumber. My home warranty sent Alchemist. They did a consultation over video on the phone. They did not come to my house. The guy told me it wasn't cool plumbing issue that I needed to call a plumber. The plumber came back and stated again that I needed a pool plumber. Alchemist told me they would not cover my issue because the plumbing was connected to the house. I asked them what they would charge me if I paid on my own instead of through the home warranty and they told me they would not even give me a quote because their business insurance would not cover it if something went wrong. I called a different pool plumber to come out and he was shocked that Alchemist not only said they wouldn't fix it but said that it was a regular plumbing issue. He also said that any business insurance would cover what my issue was in case they messed something up. What I had was a pool plumbing issue and an easy fix.
