I don't always shop at Albertsons here in Lompoc, because I can get most of our groceries slightly cheaper at Aldi, Foodsco, and Grocery Outlet. But they do have milk in half-gallon glass bottles, from "Rosa Brothers Milk Company" (huh? Like, a "milk company" is a Dairy, right?). It is expensive, but the milk is really, really good. And even though I can chase lower grocery prices elsewhere, to be fair, it is a joy to shop here. The store is always very clean, the aisles are W - I - D - E, and their staff is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. So today I popped in to get our bi-weekly supply of milk (four bottles), and I noticed that there were still several large pallet-boxes of regular and also fancy pumpkins outside the south doors. So as I trundle into the store with my cart (holding our three empty milk bottles and two carrying racks), I notice a manager-type person chatting with a customer and I say, "excuse me, what are you guys going to do with all the leftover pumpkins? There is no sign with a price on them. I think you gave them away last year after Halloween". And the Manager-Man says, "I don't know what will happen to them, do you want one?" "Yeah", I say. "I don't carve 'em, I cook with 'em." He said, "take one on your way out." Pleasant experience at this Albertsons grocery store in Lompoc, CA. It was nice to see them open on Christmas Eve. We needed some stuff, and they had what we came for plus more. The staff who assisted us at the register were both cool and friendly. Store was clean and well merchandised. Even the Sushi that they advertise as making every day was good. No complaints from me. Albertsons, man, I like shopping here as it is the first one in town and easy to get to and from. The prices are definitely higher than other local grocery stores and that that's kind of a bummer. 95% of the time produce and everything seems fresh however, recently we got some breaded chicken from there back area where they wrap it in front of. The employees are not friendly. Twice we did held bake sales for our youth group. The first time, one of the manager or supervisor did not acknowledge our reservation for a bake sale, but because we're there with our teens, he let us sell. But later I went in to buy some water and snacks for my group, he gave me the dirty look and his eyes followed me as I walked to different aisles. Then the second time we held a bake sale there and they double booked us with another group. Although we booked first, they moved us to the lesser busy entrance. Our kids selling baked goods got yelled at by an older lady of the other group. The manager did not do anything. They did not come out to apologize to us or even dissolve the issue. I had a terrible experience at the Starbucks inside Albertsons. I ordered three drinks, but when I delivered them to the people I got them for, they all said the drinks tasted nothing like they normally do. I called the store to explain the issue, and they told me their policy is that the person picking up the drinks must taste all the drinks before leaving the counter in order for them to be remade. They refused to remake the drinks or give a refund, even if I brought them back. When I explained this is not Starbucks' policy and that I shouldn't have to pay over $7 per drink for something that wasn't made correctly, they finally offered to remake the drinks--but only if I came back immediately with a better attitude. I told them I couldn't return until 8 p.m., and by then, I wouldn't need coffee. After a long hold (at least 20 minutes), I was transferred to the manager, Yvonne, who eventually said I could come back the next morning for a remake. Then she hung up on me. I called back three times trying to confirm the manager's name, but they kept avoiding giving it to me. The service was terrible, and this whole experience went against Starbucks' standards. I was never trying to get free drinks--just the ones I paid for, made correctly. Being treated so poorly, with a manager hanging up on me and staff being evasive, was completely unprofessional. read more

The worst customer service I've ever experience. I went one day to purchase cleaning items using coupons with my account and went the following day to get some for my sister using her account. She is unable to shop for herself currently due to personal reasons and I had a worker come up to me and snatched the items I had in my arms and said that I had already purchased these items yesterday and could not buy them again today. I thought she was joking but she took my items after I asked her if she was being serious. I was then watched to make sure I did not purchase the same items. read more

I am from out of town attending a week-long training in Lompoc California. While on travel I often seek out Albertsons grocery stores and visit the sushi counter whenever there is a need to pick up a quick and healthy lunch. Albertsons stores partner and contract with local independent sushi chefs and retired Japanese restaurant owners to make prepare, package, and vend relabeled authentic sushi. Each store has unique flavors and sushi combination options that make visiting Albertons for lunch the obvious choice. Today I picked a six-piece Sashimi Chef Special #4 with a seaweed appetizer, two dipping sauce cups (teriyaki and Spicy Sauce), and a Pure Leaf iced tea to wash it down. Complimentary disposable chopsticks and soy sauce packets were included and the total spent was $25.10 (including tax). The meal was excellent as always. The sushi was delicious, the seaweed was crunchy and flavorful, and the sauces were sweet and smooth. If you need a quick bite to eat, then Albertsons is the place to go. read more

The lady's at the self checkout are very rude and make you feel very uncomfortable when you're checking out your items they make you feel like you're stealing. What a horrible feeling especially when this store is so close to my home I've made the decision to drive all the way to Belton since the service over there is a lot better. I come in and out of town often. I do not eat out but cook my own food at home so I frequent this grocery store usually first thing (6:05 a.m.) in the morning (after my gym workout). Based on my experience I have to figure out another place to shop. I wonder how good the Commissary is. The last two visits have been met with a checker, Alma. The first meeting (12/8 7:17 a.m. 3171 1 56 8931) she was not pleasant nor provided good customer service. She even made a comment to the customer behind me about having to wait for me, as I may have had 18 items in her Register #1. However she was the only Register open and Self Check was closed. She did not greet me, engage with me nor say thank you at end of checking out my items. The bagger was super friendly (I will get his name next time) and sparked up a conversation that then included even the customer behind me. He really changed my view of that experience. However, I went today (12/14 6:18 a.m. 3171 1 19 8931) to pick up a couple of items. Once again all Registers were closed and Self Check was closed. And I get that, they are just opening and no one was waiting for assistance except for me, of course, and what seemed to be a shelf stalker called Alma for Customer Service (I was waiting at the Customer Service desk). She yelled out, "what?". He repeated himself stating someone was waiting at the Customer Service desk. She did not respond, and then he told me, "someone will be with you shortly". I thanked him (I had only been waiting maybe 30 seconds - he was on it) for his assistance. She eventually appeared and from the staff door she asked what I needed (once again, I notice it is the same person form 12/8, she didn't greet me). I told her my needs and she motioned me to follow her to Register 1. She is rude and short with her communication (in processing my return). After shopping for roughly 10 minutes I went to check out and again only her Register #1 was open with the same friendly bagger from my 12/8 visit. There was a customer ahead of me that was chatting with Alma about Alma's children's teachers and how she was fortunate to have such good teacher's for her child(ren). She did not greet me and continued to whine down her conversation with that customer. I thanked the bagger for his service from 12/8 (because of the conversation that day I realized I did not thank you him for his service). After which, Alma, thanked me at the end of my transaction. The pleasant bagger handed me my bag and told me to have a good day. I then heard Alma, say to him, how popular he is with customers. Alma is struggling and needs a break or shift in position. Customer service is a struggle for her. Alma can not have a bad day at 6:05 a.m. when your store opens. I did notice her chatty with other employees as I shopped and with the bagger. She needs to be refreshed in customer service skills and technique in order to ensure the customer experience is one that is reflective of the organization's desire for sustainability. Usually the entire family's first go to shopping destination for groceries. For decades, how they have done it speaks volumes about the management, this Albertsons has had the friendliest and most helpful staff. Just as an example. They were running a special buy one, get the second half-off on some items. The Wife saw another customer take two of the last three of one of the items she desired... So she spoke with personnel at the appropriate department, whom then checked in the back and presto; he found more of the sale item and the Wifey was able to save us some bucks. This can-do attitude is just par for the course at this Albertsons. In addition; the shelves are always neatly stocked, the floors clean, meat and produce fresh and a decent choice of fresh flowers, arranged nicely, to boot. read more

This store has some of the LAZIEST staff I ever encountered at a grocery store. While there are some great staff here, there are some that sure make you wonder. This evening at around 9:15-9:20 2/20/24 when I walked up to the only check stand available, the checker was at the bottom of the stand chatting with a customer acting like she's cleaning the bottom of the counter. While completely ignoring me, I went ahead and sat my things down and continued to wait for her to start ringing me up. Then more customers continued to get in line behind me. Gina noticed. Did she do anything? No. She continued to chat a little more. After a little while later, Gina slowly walked towards the cash register. Still engaged in deep conversation with a customer who had clearly already paid, Gina continued to ignore all of us in line, and took her sweet time talking to him from the register while wiping more things down by the register (that could have waited). So I scooted up more hoping she'd finally get things moving. No. She continued to haphazardly wipe things down and talk to her friend. She never once acknowledged me or the people behind me. Having had enough, I left everything on the counter and walked out of the store and drove to another store where the employees actually work. This woman had no sense of shame or obligation to ring customers up. Willing to bet she made someone else put the items I left on the counter away for her too. What is she there for? read more

Now that VOND closed and their employees filtered in customer service has improved immensely. The rude people still work there but you can avoid them! Yes indeed, I've experienced a majority of California state throughout my years on the planet. Today, a young man was standing behind the deli counter chatting with some bakery clerks that were socializing in front of the counter and meat department. The boy in the back finally acknowledged the presence of 3 paying customers hoping to be served. The employee looked at me like a deer in headlights I waited for him to do his job by asking "next customer in line please" he froze, said nothing and looked at me to do his job for him. I did his job for him because I didn't have a couple hours to wait for a bite to eat. A really rude Mexican woman that really needs to retire and can brush up on her English starts jibbering at me while I asked grandma if she wanted to go and order because the boy in back was frozen for some reason and couldn't ask if she needed help. The Mexican girl went behind the counter and started doing the boys job for him. Dude?????????? Grab a small container right in front of you, grab the big spoon in the pasta labeled????? Really. So now we pay 3 times more for our necessities and we have employees that refuse to do anymore work than the $12 per hour can absorb. It sucks and our community should not have to drive to Buellton or Santa Maria for groceries and tolerable service. Time to bring in Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or Sprouts. Better employee staffing. Morale and clean, always stocked stores. For some reason, Albertsons Lompoc is the only store unable to keep stock on product. Every other grocery store has fully stocked shelves at all times. This Alberstsons has easy to navigate isles, is a grocery store with all I needed for our picnic and a large wine selection in one place. We were set for our day full of activities with all the food from this place. Produce items were fresh fruits and veggies, hot foods delicious fried chicken and salads, cheeses, breads, nuts, chips, also donuts. Too bad I couldn't give a lower score, However customer service is horrible! I wish I could remember the name of the women who first answered the phone and constantly spoke over me. Albertsons made a mistake in billing my prescriptions. They were charging a "Discount card" by mistake, which I never gave them or authorized. I called to correct the issue and have them bill my insurance, actively trying to fix the issue. They women that answered the phone was rude, talked over me, would not listen, keep repeating herself, but would not answer my questions. Once I got to the point where I knew I would start yelling and being rude, I asked for a supervisor at which point she hung up on me. When I called back, she placed me on hold over and over. When I called back again... She muttered to her coworker before hanging up the phone, "who the F... Is this guy".. at that point I called my physician and changed pharmacies. I purchased on two separate occasions, two cartons of 8 piece rotisserie chicken. The chicken was awful; it has no seasoning, wasn't even salted, and it was sooo dry and overcooked. We ended up throwing most of in the trash. A few weeks later, I returned and purchased two more of the above item. I thought the first dry, unseasoned chicken was an anomaly. However, the second chickens were even worse than the first. These were $7.99 each, (what a joke!) and like the first two, I ended very up throwing them in the trash. I will NEVER again buy a rotisserie 8 piece chicken from Albertsons in Lompoc again. I never thought it could be easy to ruin a rotisserie chicken, but Albertsons has that down pat. Buyer beware; go elsewhere. Oh, and while I'm at it, waiting in LONG lines is commonplace for this store; they use to have a sign, "three's a crowd", meaning they would open another register which they RARELY did; hence, they removed that sign, and it takes what seems like forever to get out of that store. September 25, 2019 at 21:30 hours Posting false advertisements on free range chicken indicating discount will be taken at register when in fact there is no discount available. When notified, the clerk began an argument with me in line (a customer who studies law) about what a sale means and that he, the clerk, intends for me to pay full price. I left all my items and shopped at a different companies store location. I don't shop at stores that employ argumentative employees or post false advertisements. Welcome back Albertsons. Everyone is friendly and happy to be there. The selection is still very good, and the produce looks fresh. Maybe it's because they're still a little young, but I found it disappointing that the strawberries weren't local to the county...they were labeled from L.A. The store is a little confused: they have a lot of Safeway brand food, but cleverly marked inconspicuously (maybe because of the merger?) There's a cafe area, but hardly any prepared meals, nor is there a coffee stand. It's truly disappointing that they did away with the self checkout section. That's the Achilles heel of the Vons down the street. Old Albertsons had them (I can't remember it Haggen had them) but this small convenience would be extremely nice. Recently, some genius decided it was FINALLY time to invite Albertsons to the party Vons was already having. That party being the justforU app. The app that enables me to afford quality produce, food that has an ingredient list I can pronounce, and discounted gas. Albertsons is closest to where I live, easy to get in and out of, and gives me about an extra hour out of my day off to do something constructive, rather than drive an extra ten minutes to Vons, navigate people and vehicles I'd rather avoid for about forty minutes, then another ten minutes to get home. I am SO VERY HAPPY THAT I can use this app at Albertsons. Makes grocery shopping a lot easier for me. Ah, Lompoc Albertson's. Being right across from our cheap hotel and all of us having various needs, we visited you three times in 24 hours. You served us well: cookies and candy on sale for our snacks, cough drops and cold medicine for my flu, a gift bag for a wedding present. Sure, doing things like entering in codes for apples at self-checkout takes a bit long, but that was our choice, and it's the price we pay for the amusement of swiping our own groceries (you can tell I've never worked retail). You're not a very big store, but that's ok, you had my basics, and your sale items with club card were very reasonable. Should I ever end up in Lompoc again, which, admittedly, is unlikely, I'll at least give you a wave from the car. Good times. read more

Years ago I did my weekly shopping here, including the food I would take to LA for the workweek. But no longer. They used to have a fantastic produce section but when the store was remodeled the produce section was reduced in favor of more high margin trinkets and junk. All of the bulk SLO decaf was gone as were several other common items . My last visit on July 4 was the final straw. Most of us in the store were there to get final dinner items and the lines were forming. Not a bad line until our checker ran into a problem with the price code on a $3 deli item. The line stopped for the next 10 minutes while she tried to get the correct price code. The customer was happy to pay anything reasonable, but he was on instructions from higher authorities to get the item. With about 6 people in line and approaching 15 minutes the checker then explained that she needed to get the manager to approve the over-ring. The manager finally arrived , eyed the line and offered no apology. If I worked for the organization we would have had a brief chat. When I suggested to the checker that she needed to bring this up at the next staff meeting she treated the comment with all of the respect due a wayward cockroach. She's a union checker making double time on the 4'th of July . My comment that she might want to see what Walmart pay greeters since this store was likely to close with service like this and an approved Walmart expansion a few blocks away she explained that she suddenly noticed all of the customers in line. This is the WORST market I have ever been to. Their customer service is horrendous...the management is unimaginably rude...not to mention their lack of fresh food. We have, on multiple occasions, purchased food only to get home and find out it is spoiled. Today takes the cake. Bought a head of garlic. Opened it up at home, to find mold, rot and maggots. Live maggots. How long does a garlic have to be rotting to have maggots? As we walked back into the store the manager, with whom I have had words with before, just watched me walk by, and then I stood at the service desk for about 5 minutes. Not one employee, including the manager, payed any attention to me. Finally a girl came to help; she offered me a free garlic, to which I vehemently declined.
