It is close and convenient which is why I went there initially. However, there's not enough variety except for the alcohol section. The aisle with cleaning supplies for example, is a scarce aisle that has items with visible dust piled on top. read more

This little store is perfect. Has a little bit of everything. Amazing fresh butcher meats with affordable prices. The produce could be a little better but decent. Great liquor selection and super nice staff. Love this little shop! Ooh and they just added a little cafe where we can catch a decent priced quick lunch! I had stopped by on my 21st bday and wanted to try this lemonade (alcohol). That was on the 2nd of August. I had let the cashier know that there was an expired can and more of it, but he asked of I still wanted it and I said no bc it's ILLEGAL to sell expired product especially alcohol. It's the end of August when I came back and wanted to check if it was still there bc they don't know the importance of what I said to them and I figured they brushed it off like nothing. So sure enough it's still there. If you are the manager reading this, you need to get yourself and your employees in line and actully do your work and pay attention to stuff. Locally owned Market with friendly & attentive staff. The owner is frequently on-scene and has done a nice job of finding choice suppliers for the Meat Counter. The Produce section is small, however, the fruits and veggies they have are typically better quality than most of the local large franchise grocery stores. The employees at the Meat Counter also make some great Pico De Galo, guacamole and ceviche. read more

This little market has new ownership and I am updating my review based on my current experiences. First, the meat counter is phenomenal. They have choice cuts of ribeye, New York's, delicious carne asada, chicken. Oh and they have the best guacamole fresh daily. Here's a little secret; get half hot and half mild and mix it together! Also the wine and liquor selection is surprisingly good and affordable. My fave Sav Blanc was cheaper there, than the supermarket. They have a small selection of produce which is typically fresher than the supermarket. Today I picked up the most gorgeous fresh juicy ginger root. Much fresher than out normal grocery store. I am very happy that the new owners care about the quality of product they carry. I will be spending a lot more time shopping here. read more

For some reason, they quit carrying my choice of beer. It's not like I didn't buy it there regularly. They have a great choice of craft beers, some of which don't move very quickly at all. My brand always moved quickly. Sad, at least there are other stores in the area that carry my favorite and, if I'm going elsewhere to get my beer, then I might as well get all the odds and ends that I pick up elsewhere as well. read more

I shop there every week for the odd item or two and I appreciate the convenience and I expect to pay a slightly higher price. They have just about everything I need and I love the Meat market, the guy there will cut anything I want any way I want and the beef is choice. Surprisingly the meat is often less expensive than the major markets. In my experience the workers are friendly enough and I always see them wearing gloves. The down side....The produce is less than prime, but as I'm usually coming straight from the Farmers Market across the parking lot on Sundays, I can live with it. read more

By far, the only real market around -no seriously, the next closest market is four miles away in Mission Hills. But lets not get into that, because anyone who is coming here is either a. avoiding going into Lompoc (i.e. looking for convenience) or b. in the mood for some tasty deli sandwiches. Sure there's a Subway next door, but why waste $5 when you can get a higher quality sandwich with more goodness (i.e. meat and freshness) for less, $4? You wouldn't, so don't. Not to mention the fact that being a grocery store, you can wander and sample some of their most excellent freshly made guacamole or salsa and pick out a bottle of wine to go with that delicious sandwich you just ordered. Other than that, I'm not sure I could recommend much else here (I haven't tried their meats yet though), but I should advise that their produce is very hit or miss. In the event that I need an emergency one-off item I'll head to the Village Market. Be prepared to pay a premium for it, and if the item is a step up from basic, they might not have it. The homemade salsas and guacamole are outstanding, as is the beer selection (for and small a store as it is). I'll agree with some of the comments that the place seems a little dirty. I've seen, for example, some of the meat handlers only rinse their hands after preparing raw meats before helping me out, either with ladling salsa or packaging my choice of meat (giggity). Their rising is cursory at best, and if they used soap it wasn't for the prescribed "twinkle twinkle little star" duration. Luckily, I have not fallen victim to a food borne illness. Yet. read more

i am going to give them a 5/5 for their beer selection and liquor i was amazed of the variety of beers they have from commercial brand (bud light, coors, etc.) to stouts (guinness, local brewery stouts, other brands too) to pale ale and never seen a market with local brewery beer or even none commercial beer except Bevmo, so i wish they had this down my street i be here everyday! and they also have chip mix you can try for free which tastes good too this place is a little hidden gem and the store owner seemed nice she knows her beer read more

Living in the village, I love that this place is here. Some of their prices can be high but, it's so convenient. Butcher and meats are great and can't beat the prices! Lots and lots of drink choices; everything from lemonades, juices, sodas, beers, and liquors. I can't say that I've had a bad experience here. read more

Wow! The kid at the register has no customer service skills. No greeting. No eye contact. Did not give me a receipt or my coin change, instead just threw it in a box next to the register. Bought ice cream there last night. Took it home and it was partially frozen. Ate it anyways and now our stomachs are jacked up. This happened last summer, there freezer had problems. For being the only market in town, it's good for grabbing a couple of things and not having to drive the four miles into Lompoc when one doesn't feel like it. Some prices are more reasonable than others, and service isn't bad, but it isn't memorable either. Personally, I am not a fan of curry, so I have to hold my breath when I go in because of the Indian Restaurant that is located within the store, and the smell of curry dominates the air. When you catch one of those with access to the Post office after hours, they will usually give you boxes no problem, to bring back and mail...well, guess Gary had a REALLY bad day! I have had numerous poor experiences here, and now will never go back! The clerks are usually disinterested, and today at the Postal center I was ignored, even when I asked for help. Plus they charge an extra fee for debit cards, and you have to spend at least $5 to even use one! The place is dirty too, flies on the food and in the butcher shop. Gross! read more

Best meat market around. Their Rib Eye Steaks and Pork Chops are better by far than anything you can buy in any store in Lompoc. In fact all the meat I have purchased there has been terrific. Julio also makes the best guacamole and salsa. Couple either one with a bag of Lompoc Tortilla chips and you've found one to the secrets of the Central Coast. The Market just opened a new Indian Restaurant and the food is wonderful. Glad I live close enough to visit often. read more

I had gone in to grab a drink when i first arrived so expected a liquor store , nothing else. I walked by the butcher/deli shop and glanced at the prices. I was pretty surprised with the prices but skeptical on the quality so i went ahead and got 2 t bone steaks just to try out. I must admit i was really impressed with the freshness and great quality all for a cheaper price ive seen so far in lompoc. I will definitely keep purchasing my meats from there. I dont know about the rest of the store because i solely payed attention just to the meat dept but that dept is 5 star to me. read more

The market is really filthy. The produce is never checked regularly and not fresh. They said that they get it from farmers market, but I have asked many of the residents that do the farmers market and they have said that none of their produce goes to the village market.. They are really rude as well as the people that work the front register. Unsatisfying with the customers, I've also seen the manager yell at one of the customers there. Not pleased with this place. They also sell expired groceries. I have countless times have gone in there and seen the stuff that I bought, out of date, for a few years! This isn't the place to go to for anything. Dirty, expensive, and cheap owners keep the freezer on about 32F, so the ice cream is half melted before you even get checked out. People say the meats and homemade guac is good, but as dirty as the place is, I'm not risking it. Indian food takeout is decent, for general convenience store type stuff it's ok (soda or chips or something) but for actual groceries make the drive to Lompoc. Coffee is weak, one choice - no flavored versions or dark brews or decaf. I live within a couple minutes walk, but avoid at all costs unless its an emergency. read more

I've been shopping here for 3 years now since I moved here to Vandenberg Village. This market has just about everything you need, although prices are a little higher. Their beer selection is great, and the beer is always ice cold, which I prefer! A great selection on alcohol in general. Most of the cashiers (women) are friendly, I get along well with the male owner, the other two family members (two young men) are not so friendly whenever I need help at the Post Office side.........I smile at them, ask them how they are, but they always pretty much just ignore me, they're disinterested, and no eye contact from them, its such a shame because they are in the business of customer service and are making a bad first impression for new customers walking into their establishment. Those two young men make me feel uneasy whenever they are there working in that store. I wonder if the owners know? Anyhow, the store is convenient, although I wish it would remain open until at least midnight (instead of 10pm), and 1am would be better like it. read more
