I wish there was another choice in my neighborhood. What's with the dogs? EVERY time I go in there, there are dogs, dogs, dogs. Three dogs were present the day before yesterday, and only one was a service dog. One time I was there and an owner allowed his pet to roam free, and it was in the checker booth bothering her. No one ever does anything, except for the time one was barking at everyone, the owner was asked to remove him. I love animals, I have animals. But it grosses me out to see dog butts in the baskets where I put my FOOD. Isn't there a health code or something? Some people are allergic. The bakery staff are rude and illusive. You can stand there for 10 minutes right in front of them and they pretend like they don't notice you and don't have time for you. Then when they speak, they're rude and very unhelpful. Don't ask them to write on any cake. It's a big deal and the result isn't pretty. The store has been refurbished and I had high hopes. Not so much. Plus the way they redesigned the doors, two parties cannot get in and out at the same time with their baskets, so one has to wait. I guess you can only do so much... read more

Albertson's on Winter Gardens Blvd is the most convenient grocery store for me and therefore my first "go to" place for groceries. Albertson's is consistently clean, courteous, friendly, and efficient. I've been shopping here for over 10 years and appreciate friendly, professional staff. I have asked for a specific product by brand name and they have provided that item for me. During the entire time of Co-vid, I've seen Albertson's go out of their way and take extra staff and measures to keep carts available and disinfected. I've often heard that Albertson's was overpriced but never really realized it until a week ago. My wife and I started doing a majority of our grocery shopping at Target over a year and a half ago. This past week we went to Albertson's because we got a coupon in the mail. Generally our budget is $80. Our coupon was for $20 off a $75 purchase so we figured we could spend $80 and in reality get $100 worth of groceries. After stocking our cart with groceries that we later priced at Target for $105 we added everything up and our total would have been over $211. We had to put back every non-essential item in our cart to get back around $120. We ended up spending $120 which would not be so bad, but we we later priced those items at Target we discovered that we would have spent about $56 on those items (many were the same brand and not even store brands). The atmosphere is also much more stressful. At every turn and on nearly every isle were had people standing behind us looking frustrated within seconds of beginning to look at an item. While this is not the store's issue the atmosphere is stressful. The checkout guy was fast and obviously knows his stuff, and the other employees we dealt with seemed okay which is why I gave this store an extra star. I simply can't say that the prices here are even somewhat reasonable though. Many items here are .50 to .75 cents more for the exact same brand that you can buy at Target. That includes many items that are only $3 or so to begin with that means these items are somewhere in the range of 17-25% higher in price. Way overpriced, and the management is inept to say the least. Called this morning because yesterday I went to grab to two items. I get to the register and even though everyone else in the huge line had a full cart, but they were still doing express 15 items or less. The cashier told me I had to go to the end of the line and wait until I was directed, There was NO ONE directing anything. Then she grabs the next customer that has over 50 items for the 15 items express lane. What the heck? I call management and she was no better. Its very clean and large. It replaced Luckys a long time ago. Staff is nice and store is well stocked. They have the Albertsons card now, for sure with out it they are insanely expensive. With it its moderate. I would definitely be thrifty shopping here. Liquor selection is decent, quality of produce is excellent and the meat and dairy is always fresh. Update - went in again a few days ago, and still saw a couple employees wearing masks below their noses. There's one woman who's there every time I'm there, working in the flower department right next to the live, constantly passing within inches of customers as she goes back and forth through the line, and never has a mask on properly. NO! JUST NO!!! I will only go here if i am in DIRE need of something, and even then I would rather drive to the Vons in Santee or El Cajon. Anywhere but here. I've been coming into the store almost 40 years...they used to have a bunch of really nice people working there there still are a few... Jason the store manager eventually bailed me out....but I got nothing but sarcasm and rudeness from Joanne the front end manager the other day... I don't think she's ever smiled...she's never really that nice to me and others... Read all these yelp reviews they mention a mean lady and I'm pretty sure they're talking about Joanne ....NO MATTER HOW NICE I AM she never smiles.... if you try to return something you'll have to walk a hotbed of coals while your frozen food melts.... even if you have the receipt and the packaging they give you a hard time ....if you have the receipt and forgot the packaging they give you a hard time ...if you have the packaging with no receipt they give you a hard time....the store used to say if we know your face we'll take care of you... I spend up to $600 a month in this store and over a $9.00 refund I had to go through absolute hell... I eventually reached out to Bob Miller who is the CEO of Albertson's... Just so you know Albertson's is run by hedge fund company... I wasn't able to speak to the office of the CEO... I had to call a different number and was on hold for about 30 MINUTES... The store gets the worst yelp reviews of any store in San Diego and now we know why... The cashier and the bag boy were so rude... I profusely thanked the bag boy and he just walked away and didn't say a word... When I got home these big bags of potato chips were crushed and all my frozen food was melted... All over a stupid $9.00 refund... This Albertson's store used to be filled with really nice people but now it's populated with a lot of inconsiderate people with a few good ones still remaining... If all the employees were as hard-working and considerate as Matt the guy who stocks the shelves for 40 years now they would be a lot better off.... JUST SO YOU UNDERSTAND... This Albertsons has extremely courteous and helpful employees in every department. The store is clean and well stocked. I have called for hard-to-find items and they have found them and held them until I have gotten in to purchase them. The store recently lowered prices and it makes them competitive with Smart and Final and Costco on many items. They also carry many items that the other two do not. Yes, the Albertson's card makes many items way more affordable. But in all the prices are not that bad on most items. It's a clean, friendly store and the customer service is excellent. I just moved to Lakeside and was getting the requisite supplies to move into a new place at Albertsons. While I was in line I noticed I needed a card to get their special deals and mentioned it to the cashier and she and the bagger immediately pulled one for me, helped me fill it out and I was good to go. Went in today for a loaf of fresh French bread, there was none in the bakery where you would expect to find it, it was all at the front by the registers. I went back to the bakery to get it sliced with no problems, however once I got home and opened the bag to make a sandwich all the bread was smashed together and more of a ball then a loaf. I drove back to the store and asked if it was normal, one employee said no let me get someone to help. Out came Amal the first thing she did was dump the loaf on the counter and then she said it was due to the bread being fresh, this occurred at 1:30 pm the bread is baked hot and fresh from 4 to 7pm how is it fresh from the night before? She reluctantly went to get another loaf and slice it, 5 minutes later she returns with a ball of bread now in a cellophane bag without a twist tie and seemed confused when I said that was not ok and I wanted my money back. I did get a refund only for her to make me feel like I was in the wrong. I will never return back to this store. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon and I have never encounter so many horrible and rude people. This place was filthy and a horrible selection in the produce department. My family arrived here for a week long vacation therefore needed a lot of groceries. I was asked many times if I wanted help finding anything....as I probably looked lost :) Once I could fit no more in the cart, I went to check out. Nearly $375 in groceries and my card was declined. It had a hold on it from out of town charges. I tried another card which also was declined. I was mortified as you can imagine since I had 2 carts full of bagged groceries now and couldn't pay. Debbie (who checked me out) calmly stated that she would freeze the transaction while I figured it out and assured me that I shouldn't stress. My husband was able to resolve the problem from the house and they reran the card. Catie then helped me with the other cart and proceeded to load the bags in the car with me. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. Even the man at the deli counter was extra friendly. Quality of both food and service was great. Highly recommend! read more

Very unhappy. Shame on you albertsons. I was in a hurry so I used the self check out and left my phone in the basket, less than 5 minutes passed before I realized my phone was still in the store. Didn't get the cashier's name but she gave me the run around while she asked two other employees if a phone had been turned in. She had my phone all along. She KNEW where it was the whole time and told me no phones had been turned in... She eventually gave it back to me...good job not coming back guess I'll have to go to Walmart instead. Their bakery sucks. I ordered a cake for reveal party it was a centerpiece for the party to reveal the gender with the color inside. Thank God they got the color right. The cake had none of the designs I ordered on it. It was slanted falling to the left with a big bubble coming out as it sat on the table. I will never order a cake from them ever again. read more

I had the worse experience at Albertson's in Winter Garden yesterday night. Had to make a last minute errand for some groceries and while I was in the line, the cashier named *.*. was very rude. Holding my item in his hand and chatting with his colleagues and that went on with items that he held. Just chatting, laughing and taking his time to swipe my items. I was too timid to say anything or cause a scene because I'm just the type to breakdown and cry in a confrontation. So I just stood there and let it all happen. Then, *.* hands me a CLOSED sign and says "Put this over there." in a stern tone. No 'Please', no 'Thank you'. So I stood there for about 5 seconds looking at the CLOSED sign and then I took it and placed it down behind my stuff. The "Bagger" who caught that, stared at him and said 'Nice..' sarcastically without trying to make a scene. I swiped my card and went to get my bags. The "bagger" was extra nice and asked if I wanted any help softly. I said "No thank you" and left the store. --- SO! After I got home, I just realised that I had to say something because I truly felt that that was very rude and it all just hit me! So! I called Albertson's in Winter Garden (The one with U.S. bank) and asked to speak with the manager. His name was J---s. I told J---s about what happened and in the middle of me talking, he laughed. Then I said "Are you laughing at me?", he said "Oh yea, there are people over here laughing...wait so, what is this about again?" -- So! I said, "never mind." And I said "Thank you for your time anyways." and hung up. #MindBlown read more

The new store manager, was fresh in this store not even a week and he sure did come to my rescue! I had placed a deli order online for my daughters first birthday party, well when I went in for pick up it was not prepared or ready and I had a melt down, complete meltdown, it was already raining on the day of and it was an out door party, I was running late doing all last min errands, so when the clerk said, "Umm no we don't have it", I lost my shit! He came to the rescue, fast and made the entire situation that could of gotten a ton worse, so much better and pleasant. His attitude was nothing but friendly and calm, he just genuinely wanted to help and was concerned (something that you don't find a lot these days). He rectified the wrong of the manager who had just left the store earlier that week. It is the managers duties to review all incoming online orders and make sure the different departments execute whatever it may be by the deadline. He explained the process to me and was really a great guy about it all. It helped calm by sudden anxiety panic down. I than received my order and at a discounted price! So we we're stoked on that! I would definitely use the deli again for placing large catering orders, I would just also make sure to call ahead of time so a snafu as such wont happen once again! I can't believe all the bad reviews on this place, but I noticed they're all pretty old. I've been shopping here for the last few months, and been impressed. The people working here are always really nice and helpful. One of the few grocery stores in the world, it seems like, where if they see the lines are long, they open more lanes! Store seems pretty clean, and they have a pretty large selection of food, as well as beer and wine. The deli and bakery are pretty good, and there are plenty of decently priced sweets and breads to buy. Hm, what else? They don't require you to use the card anymore, so you get the sale prices regardless. Lots of good deals all the time. I buy basic stuff like chicken, eggs, milk, dry beans, and produce -- I can't speak for the price or selection of packaged stuff like Pop Tarts or whatnot. Actually, some of the prices, for dry beans for example, are even competitive with the commissary... but much closer to home if you live in Lakeside. I'm not sure how much gluten-free, organic, etc. types of foods they have, but I do know that they always have tofu. They also have a bit of a selection of pre-packaged kosher foods, and Asian and other ethnic foods. Produce always seems to be in good shape. This store is the best in Lakeside, for sure. I can't think of a complaint, that's why I'm giving five stars. read more

I just don't understand this place. They NEVER have enough help. It seems they have plenty of business..They never offer 3 is a crowd. I have shopped here since we moved to the surrounding area. The only good thing about this store is the butcher(s) and the nice tall dairy guy. This store is constantly out of products!
