This is a small and much older Albertsons than the one by my house, it felt like the stores we shopped at as kids, just really dated. It could definitely use a remodel. The employees I encountered were all pretty friendly though, so I would return if in the area again. It's an easy location to get in and out of. There's not much here as far as deli and bakery goes, but I mostly bought produce and that was a decent selection for the most part. I did notice they had a lot of empty sections on the shelves in other areas of the store. read more

I know the news has suggested Albertsons/Vons is under a buy-out by a large grocery chain - so I'd like to start by stating that I love Albertsons. They are less expensive than Walmart with coupons and give you birthday and loyalty coupons. This location, you are in an out of 'if' your order goes okay (so much faster than Walmart). The problem is they do make a lot of mistakes in the pick-up area and tipping exists (if you oppose this). So, that said - Walmart makes less errors and has a better sub procedures for pick-ups. That wasn't and isn't to say I prefer Walmart. I do not. The area manager acted with hostility when voicing dissatisfaction and I attempted to point out areas where improvement could be good (for both them and customers). Later, when calling to explain I meant no offense, I was not allowed and snapped at. We all have bad days - for me as well (as a customer). Yet, all this for simply wanting groceries (I am unable to return to this location / not wanting the added drama if errors are made - just to obtain my groceries). The manager is long term and liked. I hope that trust is not abused further than myself. Not caring about customer loss is not something I hope expressed to other customers. After full buy-out of Albertsons/Vons that the news claims will take place, I do hope this location might remain (but better systems could be created). The pick-up manager suggested that this Albertson is not affected. Hope that is correct. Areas that ruined my day (when I just sought groceries): 1. I believe all customers should be treated with kindness. They are the reason one's jobs exist. 2. On pick-ups, the substitution process should be better thought out. I was told that substitutions outside of what I chose as a sub cannot be done. Yet, It was done on this same order with other items. This is why I declined the substitutions / they were other brands). Just one of my items was marked out of stock [although it was in stock, same brand, and the same flavor I ordered]. I lost my coupon price (since I needed 2 to received my discount). I was told I could reorder (there is a min order for pick-up / so not a good solution given). 3. Monetary tips for pick-up workers: Today a different worker told me the pick-up workers are not allowed to accept tips, but it is being encouraged. I had been tipping (when I could - $5.00 was suggested to me by the manager stating they work hard ... which I believe most people do). I tipped on average/not always, but some customers can't afford tips on top of groceries. 4. Refunds should be issued for declined substitutes at the time a refund is noted necessary (not put on hold, albeit busy). I was given substitutes I declined (even after calling 2 1/2 hours prior) instead of refund. I had to call a second time. One time (I believe in 2023), I waited a week and had to call back to get my refund - a week later. I was apologized to - that time. This time gaslighted (the website states when a refund is given. It had not been even after 4 hours from my initial call [instead I was given the subs I declined]). 5. Other pick-up areas do not ask if they can help bag groceries or just throw groceries in a trunk without bags (that are present). I understand customers bringing their own bags is new to this Albertsons (it used to require purchase of bags). I actually would suggest buying the bags. For me, things were not grouped and put in bags. I do prefer the thoughtfulness of Walmart workers. 6. Customers will not return and likely will leave bad reviews (and I do see a lot of bad reviews for this store on Yelp) if "not valued." That said - I am a picky customer on subs with food as I read ingredients and try to avoid chemicals/dyes as a cancer survivor. I don't believe the workers at this location are purposely 'thieving' as is suggested in another review. I shopped there for years (I was usually satisfied. I quit going due to personal tragedies (a series of deaths) and not always having cash for tips. I recall I used to not allow subs and I would recommend this for customers most likely to resolve issues with not receiving coupon prices when other brands are subbed. Bottom line: Everyone makes mistakes. Both employees and customers have things going on in our lives. Don't personalize or dramatize ppl who are not desiring troubles, but simply seeking to get some groceries. read more

This store is so fun in the early morning when you're trying to beat the rush! Ready for a scavenger hunt? You bet! Try to find carrots that are not bagged baby carrots! Try to find your favorite brand of peanut butter! Watch in amazement as stockers are not stocking the shelves! Then? Then you get to play cashier! That's right! Why would a store want to pay people to take your money when they can make you do the work yourself! Ha-ha! Isn't that funny? And if you have vegetables and no barcode? Well, you either better know the exact name of said vegetable or you get to guess what they call it. So, for example, if the label in the produce section says "Gold Potatoes" and you look for "Gold Potatoes" on the scanner, you're not going to find them. Because they are actually "Yellow Potatoes"! Ha-ha! Isn't that funny? As much fun as I've had at this store, I'm going to have to call it quits. The rest of my day just hasn't been able to match this level of hilarity. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING THIEVING STORE!!! Clipped 10 for 10 coupons for water and pound of strawberries on browser at home. Upon purchasing the checker said no discounts. Manager told her to discount 10 bottles of water one by one manually. When got home and checked receipt mentally challenged checker charged me for 11 bottles (only had 10), charged full price on 5 bottles and charged return values for 11 bottles. NO discount for pound of strawberries, OVER DOUBLE the coupon price. I have deleted my phone app, requested thieves delete my info and will be boycotting Albertsons in Lakeside forever. Ivan isn't very helpful with difficult situations like these & as a customer who is right about the fact that her card does work... Ivan doesn't seem to care if "the customers are always right." He doesn't even bother with accepting the fact that maybe... He could be wrong about how well their Systems "actually" works. That maybe he could bring this topic up with his other managers the next day, or with his Boss... So they could have Someone else like a maintenance Check on their systems... But NO. I have been shopping at this facility for years. I even pay more because of Location I will never step into the store ever again. The customer service from rosio, I believe that was her name at the front end, was terrible. I did mess up on the coupons, but she couldn't accommodate me and scanned each thing one by one to take up time when she could've opened a register and gave me my money back. This is just a terrible grocery store. Not enough staff when it is busy. Narrow isles so they get new carts in that are huge. If you get there when it is not busy you cannot navigate past the stocking going on. The aisles are too narrow. Poor inventory maintenance. Unattended customer service counter and on and on. They have a Starbucks inside though. Just terrible. Too many "self-checkout" customers who do not know how to use self checkout. The problem with this area of Lakeside is there is no good grocery store alternative. You have to drive to Santee or Walmart on Camino Canada for this. No, Grocery Outlet is not a viable alternative, sorry. We used to have this poor grocery, a small Von's nearby, and a Fresh and Easy. Another Von's further down Wintergardens into Second St, but no longer. We are left with this poorly managed store. Look for the Rite-Aid that is about to close to become a gym or church as has been the case with other grocery locations that have closed. read more

I usually don't have an issues with this store, other than the terrible parking lot. But I've been having issues lately with the quality of bagging. I've watched a couple times while in the store that the baggers don't really pay attention to items that need handling with care and can't go under heavy stuff. Today I got a pick up order and when I got home my eggs were sideways and all out of the container, and my bread was underneath heavy items. Update: 11/20 : I have been coming here now for all my groceries. The staff is much more pleasant now. I have been here over ten times lately and each time the service was great. They always have great deals here on a lot of the food I like to buy. Their deals on chicken and other meats are especially good. You can get a whole chicken cut up for like 7$. It's well seasoned chicken and always great quality. Their prices on crackers and chips are excellent. They had a deal the other day on lays chips. It was buy 2 bags and get 3 free!! This Albertsons is one of my favorites. The employees are always friendly and the sales they have on Fridays are fantastic. Every time I go to another grocery store they seem to run out of something or I see employees not doing their jobs. More chit chatting and sneaking in some phone time on the sales floor. Yet every time I come here I see all their employees hustling . Friday's are definitely their busiest days because as I said before, all their amazing deals land on that day. I'm not the biggest fan of their customer sometimes but other than that I always have a relaxing time shopping, and no one ever seems relaxed to buy groceries. read more

If you've seen my review of the Santee Vons, it applies here. Albertsons and Vons are the same store. I like this store. It's clean, well stocked and the staff is helpful and friendly. I don't like the narrow aisles. Like Vons, Albertsons can get a pricey. The exact same dog food pouches we buy at Food 4 Less for $8.99 are $11.99 here. Why? Because it's Albertsons? Same story with salad dressing. That said, we'll keep coming here for meats and specials, but for "regular groceries" Food 4 Less is much more budget friendly. read more

I love this Albertsons. I shop here daily, for instacart and personal. Tonight due to a computer glitch, my discounts didn't apply, $25 worth. The manager Andrew was the most rude, unhelpful and could not have taken longer if he tried to. In addition one of the items was buy 3 for $6... with a sign on it, advertised in their mailer and online, with pictures of the item I bought and he told me it didn't apply to it,,. Each box alone was $6 so that was 3 boxes for the price of one. I don't need 3 boxes of it but that was a great price... apparently I can read signs and adverts better than the "manager " Andrew. Took him 25 minutes of cold rudeness to correct a problem that I didn't create. I just went in to pick up a cake for my sons birthday. He wanted just a basic cake you can find ready made. Never in all my years of dealing with this bakery have I had such a piss poor experience. Three women working and one with such a crappy attitude that when I walked up she was actually yelling at another customer. I should have just walked away, but my son loves this particular cake and I didn't feel like driving elsewhere. I grabbed the cake and went to the counter to ask if they could write Happy Birthday on it. A request I have made dozens of times and always receive a pleasant response. Cranky woman actually rolled her eyes at me and asked what I wanted on it. I gave her my sons name, spelling it five times because she couldn't seem to remember, (and we aren't talking about a strange uncommon name. Five freaking letters and all spelled normally). The result was something my two year old could have done. I thanked her anyway because I'm polite and she pretty much threw the cake at me. It saddens me because this has always been my go to place for cakes and because of this rude woman, I'm going to have to seek other options. Had she been even slightly customer service oriented I would have chalked up the less than great writing on a busy day and this review would have not happened. i'm not usually a review writer and i normally don't have any problems with the customer service at this store i mean it's below average at best, but this situation really pissed me off,, so i went to albertsons at 11:50pm and i know they close at midnight but i literally just needed one item where & i knew where it was so i would've been 2 minutes max to wal and go get it then walk to pay, plus i still would've left before there were closed but when i walked up to the doors at 11:50 they were already closed and there was still people in there shopping and i looked at the time again and it was 11:52 so i opened the door bc there still supposed to be open and other customers were still shopping in there and the cashier lady yelled at me. i was totally taken aback but i said i literally need one thing and you guys don't close till midnight and it's only 11:54, she was still talking shit to me but the bagger kid was nice and said i could come in and go get what i needed. i was with my friend and i told them to go get in line and i will go grab the milk to make it speedy and i'm guessing the cashier didn't see him go get in line because she started talking shit about us to the customer in line and the bagger. I just think that was super unprofessional and disrespectful to us, i was in line before she even finished checking out the customer in front of us with the one item i needed and even the bagger said damn you were fast and the cashier was just giving us dirty looks and being very rude! i get the we came in 10 minutes before you close but all i need was one item and albertsons doesn't close till midnight so i don't see what the issue was and to talk shit to us and the other customers when you shouldn't even have the door close to begin which at the end of the day took up more time then me just going and getting my one fuxking item is bullshit and horrible customer service. the only reason i'm giving 2 stars is bc the bagger kid was super nice and didn't do anything wrong in this situation read more

Called ahead to confirm they are open, man I hate going some place nowadays and showing up to get something and the business is closed. The person on the phone was polite and friendly, I voiced my concern about the hours and they re-assured me they are open until 11pm. Hooray, gonna grab some lunch meat and make some samwiches, (yes i spelled it wrong) I love a fresh sandwich. The first thing that sucked tonight was it was 8:05, guess who has shut down for the night, good ole deli, closed, well I guess I can come back, its so easy to get in and out if the stores these days. So off to a rocky start, squirrel!!! No not really, found the cookies stacked to the brim on shelves, the nights getting better, for a change the cookies are over cooked, hooray!! As i wander through the store to get ice cream and chocolate syrup I see one if the ladys who work here buying groceries. So I pick up the rest of my things and head up front, we are now 45 minutes in holding 4 things, two of them are melting because I cream and warm hands dont mix. As I am patiently waiting for the self checkout, people are just struggling with the sensor, put it on the stand, missing item, cant scan blah blah blah. Oh they dont want that hot chicken lets have the self check out employees put it back in the warmer?? Anyhow, that lady, yeah the one that has the Albertsons name tag and is going home with groceries, yeah, I cant use my reusable bags but she can pull out two and load all her stuff up in them, welcome to the scam, they are giving away the cheap bags again, but heres the kicker, if you dont see the small ass sign on the machine that says enter 0, when the machine asks how many bags you used because I have gotten use to paying for stuff I dont want, You will most likley enter how many bags you used and be charged the 10 cents per bag like I was. Anyhow I recommend this store to anyone, its usually clean, the people her appear to be nice if you engage, dont expect anyone to tell you to have a great day. Went in today and stopped at the deli. First had to stand there after the customer in front of me was already done while they went in back and talked for a little bit than came back to get what I needed. Than I asked for 1/2 pound of deli meat. I get 3/4 pound. Than was told it's ok. No it's not ok... I didn't want 3/4 pounds. Mind you I was there at 9:30 am and this is how the case looked. It doesn't even look like they even cared to cover or put away at night. The pasta had looked like it had been out all day yesterday and they had pasta mixed in with the potato salad. Ew! read more

I was shopping in this store today and apparently this store does not enforce the mandatory law of requiring customers to wear masks. There was a teenager with his mother in front of me at the checkout not wearing a mask. I asked the clerk why they were not requiring masks in the store and he said if we forced one person then there would be 7 more behind them without mask. Apparently it happens every day, but by that logic if you are going to beak the state laws, why not just start selling alcohol to minors. The law is the law enforce it! This is the closest grocery store to my house so I run in when I'm out of something and need a simple item . I was in a few days ago and needed cheese for my soup. It was four dollars more here then it is at Walmart how crazy is that . I just can't shop here because i can't believe the prices of food they expect us to pay.
