Staff is friendly here willing to help customers find digital app coupons on their phones when they really don't have to. Santee store is well organized and is definitely more organized and shopping efficient than the El Cajon and Mission Valley location. The produce looks fresh and well stocked. Prices are reasonable and sale items can really help save. Fyi definitely take advantage if of the app and digital weekly coupons and coupons in general. The only issue is there was only two cashiers initially and then a third cashier came in which was cool and made getting through the shopping experience better. Staff are fast ringing up items when the lines are more than a few customers and still remain professional and friendly. I hope they get more help so it doesn't affect their morale and customer service as it's stressful working short staff. Definitely room for growth with staffing. read more

I live in Santee and will no longer shop at this store. I will be traveling further to get better deals. Food for Less is awful. Never have good deals. All their cashiers look like they hate their jobs. Worst off, you have to wait for customers to bag their own groceries which seems like they take their time. Don't you realize others have things to do. Never enough lines open. Customers always tend to check out at the same time. Better deals at Stater Bros or Ralphs. read more

This is fairly large F4L. Big vegetable section. What I found surprising was their alcohol section. Anything hard liquor was locked up by the front. Found some limes here for a cocktail recipe we needed. Apparently this Santee store has been here since 1980 (a sign indoors said so). This is one of my preferred grocery store as produce and Kroger brand items are very affordable compared to grocery stores like Vons. I like the location of this food 4 less because it's kind of off the beaten path from mission gorge road. Also the food 4 less is very large per usual, but it is kept a very clean and very organized which I really appreciate. They have good sales and good products. It doesn't seem to be crowded anytime I've gone here even on the weekend before thanksgiving. they do a good job on having multiple cashiers open if it is supposedly busy so that the line can go faster. Never thought I'd use "favorite" & "Food 4 Less" in the same sentence, yet here I am, writing this review why this is my favorite Food 4 Less and the only one I'll shop at. It's the cleanest, loneliest, newest, least ghetto Food 4 Less I've ever stepped foot into and I'm living for it. After having dismal experiences at the Food 4 Less in El Cajon, Lemon Grove, University square, Mission Valley, I'd rather drive here to shop at this location. The clientele here is a lot more low-key than at the aforementioned locations, hence a much better shopping experience. Parking here is always plentiful and there's never bums or sketchy people loitering around the parking lot like there tend to be at other locations. As long as this is the case I'll keep buying my cheap groceries here. read more

Do better - cleanliness is a big fat zero. I have not been to this store in a bit. I was disappointed with the overall filth- The manager is not managing, nor is the supervisor - For example - The check stands have built up food, crumbs, and dust that has not seen a good wipe in a very long time. Gross- if this is what check stands look like for the public to see I cannot imagine what the meat dept, deli, and bakery cleanliness or lack of behind-the-scenes - for all the employees there if you are ok working in those conditions I wonder what their houses look like- that's all rant over - read more

WOW! I was impressed with this grocery store. We had just left Sharp Cuyamaca and I had to buy Gatorades, pedialyte, soups, popsicles, crackers and a couple other items for my sick daughter. This store is very spacious and clean and everything was easy to find even though I had never been in the store. Oh! AND THE COST! I couldn't believe it! I spent a little over $20. Bakery was not helpful. I needed to Christmas Cakes. I asked for writing on them. They wrote on the chocolate cake with ORANGE frosting and dripped water on the cake. No it didn't dry, it left marks. Ad they were writing in the 2nd cake with Orange frosting I caught it and they used RED. The chocolate cake will need repair. I do not shop very often at Food 4 Less, but this location was a lot more convenient at the time given I had lunch near by and needed some avocados, Peruvian Beans, and white potatoes. Yes, I know, such the exciting shopping list. They had tons of medium size Hass avocados for .99 a piece. I was pleased with these because they were larger that I find at other supermarkets. I had to spot the Peruvian beans because they did not have a sign on them nor a price. After trying my best to pick out the duds, I filled a bag with one pound of the beans. Lastly, the white potatoes were at a great price of .79 per pound. When I asked about the price of the Peruvian beans the staff was members were very helpful and looked up the price. The gent at the register was friendly enough and I was glad that they had multiple registers open to help thing flow smoothly. read more

we spent a weekend at Santee Lakes and realized that we forgot quite a a few grocery items. searched yelp for what was around and Food 4 less was the winning choice. This place is better than the local Vons by leaps and bounds. Their prices are good, the produce isn't the best, but it's usually pretty decent, and they have a good selection. The people who shop here are often pretty scummy, which can be frustrating while shopping here, but the employees are universally wonderful. Get the rice pudding! read more

I ordered cupcakes from the bakery department. I was so disappointed. I went pick up my cupcakes and realized they put the wrong frosting on my vanilla cupcakes. The lady said she can fix it for me right away, so I was kind of happy about that. Then when she returned with the cupcakes it looks like she just scraped the old frosting off the cupcakes and threw on the new frosting. It looks really sloppy. Very unprofessional I could have done that myself! I also ordered the cupcakes without any sprinkles, I ordered the chocolate shaving on the cupcakes. I told them that I only wanted regular chocolate, nothing White. They end up giving me regular chocolate with white chocolate on there. This is a horrible food 4 less.... I go in there and it's dank and scary inside. I went to buy some of the sandwich meat, and there is literally mold COVERED in it. To my knowledge the package wasn't opened, but there was mold from top to bottom, left to right, COVERED all over the sandwich meat. I shake it off, and decide that maybe they're not updating the sandwich meat area yet. So I buy some of the dinner rolls, that comes in the tube (like Pillsbury)... I take it home and make dinner for my family. I'm about to plate the food, and put in the dinner rolls, and I smell the rolls and they smell disgusting. .. there's VISIBLE mold on the edges/corners, and lingering in between each roll. ***I literally bought the rolls THAT DAY!!!!!*** (and the expiration date wasn't for another couple of weeks!!!! After spending $157.00 as we were bagging our items he makes the statement "You know those Arn't free" being embarrassed by his clear crappy comment I acknowledged that I was fully aware and had full intentions to pay once we knew how many bags we needed. Of. Purse he'd ask my wife we needed bags and she told him yes, so we knew about the bags. This began a back and forth exchange with him making the statement I should have "Voted about the bags" HE DOESNT KNOW ME! After a long, abusive relationship with the Lemon Grove store, I am so grateful to adopt this location as my new grocery store. For the clean and larger space, better selection, sparce population of customers, and the normalcy of those customers at that, this is worth driving the extra miles to save money. F4L still doesn't carry everything I wish they would, but I've learned to let that go and shop the other stores when need be. This location actually has the toiletries I can't find in LG, and a few other things that just contribute to the better shopping experience. It gives validity to the old phrase "going the extra mile". Though I've heard good things about the one in Emerald Hills...and that's not too far, so we'll see! read more

I've never been a Food-4-Less shopper until we recently moved to Santee and there is no Ralph's close by :( BUT to my surprise, I'm kinda diggin it! Prices are great! And since it's the same company as Ralph's, they have many of the same items/brands for even less expensive! The produce seems legit, dry foods/canned goods also. I'm pretty picky about my meats, so I'll stick to sprouts or trader joes for that because I prefer all natural meat. The inside of the store could use a little sprucing up, looks kinda ghetto. Rotten produce, expired food and generally just a dirty trashy store. They will have one register open and 10 people in line.

This is our grocery store and ill tell you why. Food4less is hard to beat price-wise as we all know, but the stores can be a little...torn up. Sure, i liek going to another name brand store and enjoy the selection, neatness and..attitude. Am i right? Well this store is clean and pretty well organized. MUCH better than most other stores locally ive seen. Thier selection could be better, as usual, but its not too bad and they often have good stock of the killer sale items. Parking is never an issue and tax is CHEAPER than el cajon. Yup, this is where i go until i find better. I welcome any advice on finding such a place. read more

This is one of the nicer Food 4 Less stores (in my opinion). Way nicer than El Cajon and Lemon Grove. I often stop here on the way to Santee Lakes. If F4L carries it, it's about the best deal you're going to get. I only knock off one star since they don't have as many even mid-range "gourmet" items you might expect out of a store this big. But the prices are awesome and that's what keeps me coming back. read more
