I want produce from America, by that I mean North America! I want California avocados. I'm willing to pay more!!! We have plenty of growers in California, why do we consumers have to join co-ops or travel to "farmer's markets to get fresh, local produce? The Lake Forest Stater Bros. once stocked Maui Gold pineapples. Now I buy pineapples by the case directly from Maui Gold in Hawaii. There is no comparison, so much better than anything from South or Central America. Our Albertsons is closer to us than most other local stores but in the deli department I have also run into really unfriendly staff. Once in a while, there's someone nice there but that's unusual. Every time I go to get fried chicken at the deli they're rude I've ordered so many times from them and they give me the worst chicken ever. It's supposed to be convenient to pick up for dinner for lunch for a quick little get together and everybody is rude there. Albertsons is a large chain grocery store. This specific location is off of Muirlands in Lake Forest. I like the variety of items that Albertsons carries. They carry good quality products and have fair pricing. They have a good size organic section as well as produce and bakery. This specific location is a bit older looking and is not very updated, but it's still a good quality store in regards to its supply. The customer service here is also great and they always have good promotions going on around the store. Overall, it's a good quality store and I recommend coming here for your shopping needs. read more

Pretty good location. Large store, well stocked and clean, a bit older but still fine. Lines can get kind of long, parking lot is busy as well. Prices can be kind of high, but if you shop the sales and specials you can find great deals. So I came here 3 months ago and asked for them to double bag everything which they didn't do, and so all the grocery bags got holes in them of course and I wrote a review about that. No employee from the location ever reached out to me to try to apologize or rectify it. I guess somehow I forgot about the bad experience and made the mistake of coming back here. And the people that work in the deli are truly horrible! There were 2 women working when I came and one was really old and slow and the other was really obnoxious and rude. I asked for some potato wedges and the really slow person put some in a bag and then started walking away to put the price on them. I asked, can I please have more than that? And the obnoxious woman chimed in and said you said "you wanted a quarter pound so that's all you get". So between the 2 bad employees I couldn't get the amount of food I wanted because I was told that's all I could have. Then they gave the bag to me open and I asked them, can you please put the sticker with the price over the opening to keep it closed? ( This is how every good Deli already knows to do it! ) The obnoxious woman said, no we're not going to do that for you. So I peeled the label off myself and moved it over so I could close the bag, and told her as I was leaving, it's really not that hard! Never been so shocked by such difficult and aggressive treatment from a deli person. These employees should really be fired because they are telling the customers they can't have the amount of food that they're asking for. One lady is just way too slow and I don't even think she could hear because she was so old, and when I asked her for more food she didn't even respond, she just handed me the bag. This is the worst Albertsons I've ever be to. The only reason I go there is because its less than a mile from my house but I regret it every time. I should have known better. Thinking this store would get better the next time I go in is pure stupidity on my part. If you go to this Albertsons beware for over charges. If you don't pay close attention they will overcharge you a couple dollars every time. there are a handful of good employees there but most are not. Me and another customer asked an employee if they had anymore of an item. He quickly said no which caught me by surprise because most employees at other stores would go check. I decided to do my own detective work and walked back into the warehouse and found a couple cases of what I was looking for and carried it out to the store and put it in front of the shelf. I saw the other customer told him and he told me thanks and said you should work here because you know more about this store than the employees. The deli department is another sad story. They won't help you unless you stand there for 10 minutes. They make eye contact with you but just walk away then they'll say I'll be right with you and walk to the back and talk on their phone. I know because I could see them making the call. I think that's bad but that's my opinion. I try to go to the one in Mission Viejo or the Pavilions which are far better stores. I've also was told by employees that the Lake Forest store is the worst and that employee still works at Albertsons but at a different store. I've been to this Albertson's a few times and have not had good experiences. The customer service at check out is pretty good. The cashiers are friendly; but when I go to the grocery store, my purpose is not to just chit chat. My plan is to buy groceries. There's another Albertson's nearby that has amazing customer service and the store is stocked and well organized. This review is based on my experience yesterday at this Albertson's. I was very disappointed. I was looking for basil. There was none in the section with all the fresh herbs. There was not even a basil plant or basil in a package. I could not find basil anywhere. I decided to move on because I didn't really need basil in what I was making for dinner. I needed to buy green bell peppers. It was "99". Is this per pound or each? That makes a big difference. See photo. Then I moved on to the kale. It's was $1.429" and backwards "3". It would have been nice to know how much I'm paying for these products. See photo. There were a few other items that were similar to these examples, but I don't remember them on top of my head right now. I spend a lot of money at this grocery store because I love to cook and it is closest to my home, but I am willing to travel further to get a better experience. I love this Albertsons! They have a fantastic full service bakery, & deli. I buy my birthday cakes there. They make the only German chocolate cake without heavy buttercream frosting. When I was a student at UCI we had an Albertsons across the street. If the campus shut down electric for repairs we went there for the hot chicken dinner. They have wonderful side dishes there as well & still have the best chicken dinner combo & prices of anywhere else. The chicken doesn't sit for 6 hours under a warmer, it's always fresh. They have a great donut selection as well! My sons birthday cakes were made with care. The only reason I shop at Ralph's now is because they are down the street from me or I would do all my shopping there. They do charge a bit more for some things but it's like that everywhere. There are so many other grocery stores nearby, I probably went to this deli for the last time. The guy in front of me was being super rude, taking forever, trying to nickel and dime the kid behind the counter and get a bunch of stuff for free. The kid ended up clearing out a whole case of mango habanero chicken, which happened to be what I was waiting for, and was super loud in telling the guy not to tell anyone. Then it was my turn. When I found out that this case was the last of the habanero chicken for the entire store, it kind of blew my mind. So now I wasted 10 minutes waiting. I would have bought it. Today I witnessed a man with a basket of groceries ( eggs vegetable milk- necessities) - he tried to run out without paying ( not acceptable but again he had necessities) Then I saw a big girl ( I think she was the manager she had keys) built like an athlete , tried to snatch the basket making the guy fall and she kicked the food back in. I know he stole but that's not acceptable, both people could've got hurt. I've never seen a big name store have an employee tackle someone trying to steal. She could've just let him go, it wasn't booze instead just eggs and bread. Instead she humiliated him while he was probably taking it home to his hungry child. I would've ran after him to pay for his food but he got on his bike and left. I then see the manager come out a few times making sure he's not outside, thinking she's buff and feeling accomplished. I forgot to mention it happened right before closing . As I'm typing this I can only feel for the guy, anxiety rising while trying to take food for his family, feeling humiliated while being tackled to the floor while leaving the food, and running away feeling like police and going to get you over some eggs. I was checking out when I noticed the cashier (Tracy) was very rough with my items. She literally scanned and chucked the items if not slammed them on the counter. I greeted her by name since she didn't feel the need to acknowledge me. She continued to be rude and I offered to buy her a soda (which she snapped back saying she didn't drink soda). I decided to give her a "pass" since everyone's entitled to having an bad day. I figured she may be having a bad day. Fast forward to returning the shopping cart. The older lady who was collecting carts demanded I throw away an empty plastic bag that was sitting in my cart (was there when I grabbed the cart, mind you). I was in utter disbelief. Not only did I not get a 'thank you' for returning the cart, but the lady ordered me to throw away trash that wasn't even mine! I was so upset I went back into the store to complain to Enrique (a manager) who was very receptive to my feedback. Never have I ever been treated with such rudeness!!!! Been shopping there for 20 or so years out of convenience. I find expired dairy, meat chips just to name a few. Been complaining to managers and even called their corporate office. It's plain to see this is their way of keeping their numbers up. To me they are thieves plain and simple...not pulling expired items like most other stores. Just shopped for a few needed items including tofu and found 10 or so containers that expired today. If you have to shop here check expiration dates like you would in a 3rd world country. Unfortunately the Lake Forest location that weve been shopping at for 30 years has gone considerably down hill. The past 3 months have been very frustrating. Frequently find expired items and or items with only a day or two left. Many items are frequently out of stock. You would think a major chain would have a sophisticated inventory management system to assist with the ordering as well as out of date alerts. If they do it doesn't work or is not being used at this location. Having mentioned concerns about shortages to management and staff their response is apathetic at best. The morale seems to have taken a real turn for the worse in all areas of the store(except the baggers they are very helpful and cheerful) the past 3 months. Sending feedback to Albertsons/Safeway was also futile. The response was canned and did no good. Having been patient but seeing no improvements I will take my business to a Ralph's that's 2 miles away. The only problem with that is Ralphs is it's so much busier...hum I wonder why. read more

This Albertsons is HORRIBLE! I have lived in this area for over 25 years. I've always tried to support this store, but I give up. The meat department in this store is awful, almost every time I go, the meat and poultry is at its expiration date. I went today to try and get my weekly groceries, needed a 3 to 4 pound roast but all if them were 2 pounds so I asked the butcher and he told me he'd need at least a half hour to cut me a 4 lb roast, he said he was alone and had 4 other people to make carne asada for. He said there are roasts out there and if they aren't big enough then I should just make 2 of them! Ok, I give up... I'll take the $250 a week I spend there and go to Ralph's from now on. read more

Not Covid enforcers! There was an older woman on 1/29/21 not wearing a mask - no one in the store asked her to wear one or provided one to her. The cashier - female - had a plastic screen mask on with a piece of cloth taped to the bottom, but the sides were exposed! Even if these people have been vaccinated, it is very rude to not protect others and shows management issues at this store. A few months ago, at the meat counter, the man helping me had a bandana around his neck but no mask over his mouth or nose. I asked him to use a mask and advised one of the female cashiers about it and she seemed to not care. People like these are why there is a pandemic that is still occurring and not getting any better. For the past two decades, I have loved this Albertsons! With its new remodel, it is absolutely stunning and has a great feeling of a high class grocer. Unfortunately It seems as tho the remodeling cost is being passed on to the patron in the form of pricey produce and meats but there are always Alberston's club deals on alcohol and other convenience foods. It is filled to the brim with helpful employees and the self checkout is usually open too in the event that there is too long of a line. There is always ample parking in the lot in front and there is also a Bank of America ATM inside and a Red Box movie rental kiosk so you can easily kill 3 birds with one trip here! read more

I recently read a review concerning a recent attempted robbery at the store, I was also in the store and witnessed the situation and it did not go down as described. From what I saw the woman that I am assuming is the manager took the basket from the man's hands, which didn't contain that many necessities (I saw sharpies). The man never fell, so I'm not sure where that came from. He was also abusive toward the employee in question. I thought she handled the situation very well, keeping the food in the store while also ensuring that she and her fellow employees remained safe. I commend her! read more

So apparently if u don't fit the demographic or match the color of skin of the checkers they will treat you rudely, huck ur items so hard that peaches break and onions have visible bruises on them about 2 hrs from purchase. Warning ....The produce Dept here is bad. The cherry tomatoes I bought were full of hairy mold and the large avocados were 30% rotten and brown on the inside. I threw all of it away and went to Stater Bro's for produce. The rest of the store is ok - but extremely overpriced and very few good sales. This store has really gone downhill lately. What I notice the most about this specific branch is that it's so dark here, especially in the frozen food section. Anyway, it looks smaller than the other Albertsons I've been to, or maybe that's just because of the lighting. Their selection is about the same as others inclusive of clearance items, but they also have $1 flowers at the front of the store, interestingly enough. They have self-checkouts here. They weren't attended this time but the only problem with that was that it took a while to get Monopoly game pieces, so it's fine with me. The exits were full of Girl Scouts selling cookies.
