I wanted a special cake for my son's birthday, he wanted white cake with fresh strawberry filling and a whip cream frosting. So I called another Albertson's near my home but the young man in the bakery wasn't able to help me, he was polite but not experienced in cake sales, so I asked if I could please speak to someone else. A lady came back to the phone and I asked her if they had a quarter sheet cake and she snapped back at me said yes and said no to my fresh strawberries"not in season" she was obviously irritated that I had to talk to her and very abrupt with my choices, I told her I would have to call back. That's when I called this Albertsons in Brea and was greeted on the phone with a cheerful associate in the bakery, happy to take my order, Christina! I could tell they were busy in the background but she said she would be happy to assist me with my cake order. Do you have fresh strawberry filling? ABSOLUTELY she said. So sweet and helpful.She was the bakery manager and told me anytime I needed any bakery assistance she would be happy to assist me. The cake was perfect! I have got to remember to avoid this location in the future, or at least the express lanes. The last couple of times, the cashiers have been so busy talking to each other they barely know there's a customer. My social standards are incredibly low for cashiers. I expect basic human respect and for the cashier to actually be listening. Today, the cashier was barely there. I messed up and hit the no cash button when I wanted to take out a $20. When I managed to squeeze a word in, I told her as much but she seemed to think I didn't know how to use a bank card because she asked if I knew my pin number. I thought maybe she wanted to finish that transaction and then help me get the cash. I didn't realize what she was really doing until I typed it in and she gave me my receipt and told me to have a nice day. When I stared at her, she asked as an afterthought whether I wanted a bag. She'd been too freaking busy to bother until then. So she'd been too absorbed in her stupid conversation to even hear me. read more

I would've given it three stars but when I was there a week ago I witnessed this older employee being so rude to a different employee. She seemed like she was degrading that other guy. By far, the best supermarket sushi place around. The employees are extremely nice and the selection is pretty good. I usually go for the dragon roll and CA rolls. The stand out is the rice. It's not the mushy kind like other supermarket sushi places. It has the perfect amount of vinegar and the right texture. I also like it that there is a lot of filling and just a very thin layer of rice. It's perfect. Very unfriendly deli staff, except for the gentleman who works there. I know it's difficult to reach to the front of the case to scoop out items that are in the front row but that's not my fault. Staff seems annoyed to fill my order. Asked around, others had the same experience. Albertsons on Placentia just has employees come around to the front of the deli counter and lift up the glass case door to easily scoop front row items. They are always really happy to help, so maybe that's a solution for the Albertsons in this review...? read more

I've been racially targeted at this location recently (Apr 2020). I work hard for everything I have and I do not appreciate being monitored, singled out or inadvertently accused of stealing because of my race (Black) or appearance (young). A older, bald, caucasian man was watching me in the liquor section. Although I thought I was being overly cautious, I also saw him 2 times deliberately and intensely watching me between the aisles. At a point I walked directly towards him and he ran to the back where employees work. When I paid at the front, I requested a manager and graciously let her know what happened. I do not want my family to experience this behavior by employees here and have since told them to avoid this location. read more

I grew up going to this grocery store, and now that I'm back in Brea as an adult with a family I've been appreciating anew how friendly and well run the location is. It's been particularly noticeable in the era of Corona - the carts are wiped down, the staff is helpful and kind, and the store is well stocked. I never write reviews but I felt the need to write about my horrible bakery experience with a manager. I cannot remember her name but I do remember her bad attitude and what she looked like as well as the way she treated her staff that worked back there with her. I only walked up to order a cake for my daughters birthday and was greeted by a nice employee I believe her name was Megan. She had mentioned she was new and she was truly a delight. As I started telling her what I envisioned the manager walked up behind her and started taking over as if this poor employee had no idea what she was doing, but she did. The manner in which she spoke to this individual was appalling to say the least. This employee however Keep the best attitude about it all and helped me till the end. She was so personable. The manager kept rolling her eyes and harassing all her employees as I noticed and also at one point I heard her mention to another employee about the nice one taking my order that she would never make it and she didn't like her. I felt that extremely unprofessional and uncalled for as this employee not only helped me but was smiling the whole time. Albertsons in Brea you need to do better and hold this manager accountable for her actions. I would never order another cake from her again just because of that women and the attitude displayed. This review is for cashier Marcus. I had two bad consecutive interactions with him. Please note, I'm normally not the type to complain or write bad reviews. However, the first time going into his line yesterday he started bagging our groceries without asking if we wanted a bag. My girlfriend then politely informed him we had a bag and he seemed upset. And then as I was bagging my own groceries, he was pretty aggressively throwing our groceries towards me. I came again today because I forgot to pick up dog food and decided to get some candy as well. I went through self checkout this time, where Marcus was monitoring them. I was using two separate cards to separate the transactions. When I rung up the dog food first and the receipt came out, I was about to ring up the candy for a second transaction when he REACHED around me and grabbed my receipt before I even took it and obviously saw the candy wasn't rung up and said "you going to ring that up" in a stark manner. After I told him I was doing a second transaction, he didn't say anything else and then proceeded to KEEP my receipt for the dog food. It seemed as if he assumed I was stealing, which is an absolute not okay assumption to make. He was downright disrespectful and ruined this store for me and my family. read more

I love this Albertson's. It is so homey. The people are so kind and helpful. This is the type of customer service that I really see anymore. Most of the staff is older which is why I think the service is so much better. None of those exasperated sighs and eye rolls that are common in other grocery stores. The meat section is too small. However, there is an actual butcher on staff who is knowledgeable. I can ask questions about preparation or make special requests with no problem. I wouldn't normally write a review on a grocery store because my least favorite thing to do is grocery shop. Plus, I am so focused on getting the items on my list and getting the heck out that I really don't pay attention to anything else. I really don't care if the person behind the checkout stand is nice or not. Ring me up and get me out. On this specific grocery run, I needed a few packages of husked corn on the cob. The produce section was sold out, and only had a few ears of corn in the husk available...not enough for what I was needing. I approached Danny, who was working in the produce section, and asked if they had any husked corn available. He let me know they did not, but he offered to go to the back, husk some corn and package it up for me while I waited. I was so pleasantly surprised at his willingness to do that, especially since he was right in the middle of something. Within 5 minutes he was back with what I needed. Wow. Let me remind you, I HATE grocery shopping. But because of Danny's excellent customer service, my husband and I left very happy customers and will most definitely be back. read more

I wouldn't normally do a review on a grocery store, but after I got married a year ago and moved out, I had to find a store to 'call my own.' I had been going to Ralphs' for a few months, and their produce didn't seem fresh, I had to dig for a good bunch of anything everytime I went there, and at the time most of the workers were snotty. I asked what time they usually closed, and an older man giggled at me and said, "um normal hours!" Terrible customer service. So when I started coming to this store down the street, it was the exact opposite. Very high quality fresh produce, and exceedingly friendly workers that will make sure you find everything you need. I notice the cashiers tend to strike up many conversations w/ the customers because they are very friendly. And while most grocery stores have those run-of-the-mill unproductive teenagers, the young kids that work here are the opposite. I seriously get asked if I'm finding everything ok about 3 times every visit. I have never had a visit to this store where there weren't a ton of items on sale! I always save at the minimum 10.00-20.00 on my bi-weekly trips, and that's spending less than 100.00 read more

I usually got to Ralphs but I do come here sometimes because it is closer to my apartment. I like the store, their prices seem to be pretty close to Ralphs. However, they do not carry my favorite brand of greek yogurt, Fage, and they do not carry Seattle's Best Coffee cans. And those are two things i really enjoy. Today a girl was on the phone with what appeared to be a personal call (no customers in line) and literally continued talking with me standing there looking at her while I stood at customer service counter. Long lines are pretty consistent and always a joy to see three employees huddled on a personal chat while lines get long. Management really need to look at staffing and performance management. I realize this is probably a union position but cmon. My first job was in a grocery store in Huntington Beach and management ran it like the Marine Corps. We were always busy and moving fast. Albertsons has always been my favorite grocery store because of the quality and selection that is offered. Their customer service in the Deli Department definitely surpasses any customer service I have ever encountered at a grocery store. I went to order some party trays and these two AMAZING ladies in the deli went above and beyond to assist me. I was a little lost and asking a ton of questions, but they were so patient and didn't mind all of the inquiries. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. This Albertson's is very clean and includes a hot deli, pharmacy, and Starbucks. I love that they store their beers in a huge walk-in refrigerator. The prices are fair considering that there are at least half a dozen grocery stores within a 2 mile radius- that's a lot of competition. They constantly have sales and promotions which help out a lot. I always look forward to doing my weekly grocery shopping here. read more

My go to store. Always have what I need. The store is also clean. The employees are always nice. However, lately they always seem to be out of common items, eggs, milk, bread.... My huge problem is they carry some sort of homemade soap or something in the store and it smells so bad it can throw you into an Asthma attack. I have to hold my breath every time I pass it.
