I brought in some 100 door hardware that had all different kinds on coloring and didn't match. They were different types of metal, which I was unaware holds color differently when trying to match and can be difficult to make all one metal color. They were able to not only get the exact color/Petina I asked for, but we're so patient and worked diligently to get just what I asked for. No issues, no hassle, seriously just great results. I bought a vintage bike as summer project and came to Alberto's to have it powder coated. I was really excited to see the outcome so I called probably twice a week to ask about the progress (in hopes to hear to was ready for pick up). Anyway I got the bike back after about a week and a half and the job Rick did was awesome! Can't wait to have the bike completely assembled and ready to ride. The paint job is going to break necks. Alberto was very kind and told me it may take a week or more, because they outsource to local powder-coating warehouses. Rick (his son?) is into bikes, so he was the one who chemical-stripped and sanded out all the rust and prepped the frame for painting. I stopped in to get my bike frame, and it was wrapped in plastic and looked perfect! They did a great job, with attention to detail and friendly service. If your priority is time, don't come here. What a job!!! - I thought they gave me new parts. I had them re-finish the brass front door hardware. Since I had to remove it from my front door I was a bit apprehensive that they could get the work done in one day. I had called around and was told it would take several days. These guys promised one day service and they came through. I dropped off the parts at 10:00 am. At 2:30 pm I stopped back they were ready. It was amazing how clean and new looking they were. There is a level of professionalism, pride, knowledge, and friendliness that you just won't find at the best chain. I came in here to get a bike frame painted. I have been putting a lot of time and money into building up a really fun fixed gear bike. I was really worried about trusting my frame in the hands of just any old shop but a friend of mine highly recommended this place so I gave it a shot. Right away I met Rick at the shop and after a couple minutes I knew I was in good hands. They hooked my bike up with a super clean, smooth, and deep powder coat. Every edge was perfect and I had no trouble getting all my parts back on. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I had the front door handles and hardware done here as a surprise for my mom last weekend for Mother's Day. They did an awesome job! They were super friendly and offered next day service - which came in handy for a procrastinator like myself! The hardware looked better than new and really made my mom's front door stand out beautifully - even our neighbors have noticed! I will definitely be back. While I was dropping off the hardware, they were powder coating a bike and I wanted to buy it!- it looked like new! They are located very conveniently to me, right in town in Pasadena. They did an excellent job polishing up some stainless steel. The price seemed high (I think, didn't check other places, didn't haggle), and they blew their estimated deadline by several days. I would go here again for another small job where the convenience is worth the money, but for a bigger job I'd probably investigate prices at places farther away or in more industrial areas. read more

We got several if our bath fixtures refinished from chrome or old bronze to polished nickel. It took about a week to get our items back. Pricing is fair and we are happy with the results. Rick helped me with my orders and he was nice and helpful. I will use them again next time I need to refinish something. Tip: call before you go drop off/pick up to make sure they are open. I have to echo Stuart E -- I'd go elsewhere. The good: the final job turned out great, and they didn't lose any parts. The bad: they promised them in a week. I first came about 10 days later assuming they'd be ready. Nope, but I was promised they could be ready the next day as long as it was late in the day. Long story short, I ended up having in total to return three different times to get them. Twice they made promises they didn't keep, and there were zero apologies or even the slightest effort customer service effort made each time. It left me feeling really bummed out because I'd love to have reasons to support the local craftsmen in my community. (I suppose I did, in a way: I ended up having to pay the handyman installing the hardware twice.) It seems like others have been luckier with their experiences. They're contracting out the powder-coating to someone, seem to have no control, and also couldn't give a rat's ass about how it affects you when things go wrong. I hate reviewing small businesses negatively, but with attitudes like theirs, I thought fair warning was due. A 10 percent discount and some apologies would have gone a long way to making me think I should give them another chance. read more

A little late but before Christmas, I had a 5oz silver bar that I bought "used" on eBay to get engraved which came with some small scratches on it. Alberto's is a complete joke. Be prepared to be disappointed. This is not run like a business so forget about your job on time, or worse have returned to you the parts you left with them. I live in Pasadena and have taken household hardware for polishing, and most recently some small pieces for plating. If its smaller than a toaster these nitwits will lose it. They have no procedures for tracking an order, oh take that back, they use the hot potato system. Kinda like Moe, Larry and Curly do. So if you care about what you have go somewhere else. He also wouldn't state his name until I made it a point to ask if I was calling the company line. I was trying to describe the metalwork I wanted restored, he kept cutting me off.
